  Hello! Our stay at the boathouse was absolutely perfect. Being from Devon originally and residing to London for the past 10 years, you can never beat the feeling of being back by the water and our stay was exactly what we needed and hoped for. The boathouse location is picturesque and watching the sunrise from the bedroom window (in what is one of the most comfortable beds we’ve slept in) each morning was well, beautiful. We were gifted with beautiful weather over the bank holiday weekend (even returning with a little sun-tan!) and managed to get out for long walks around the cliff edges up to Gara Rock and bike rides over East Portlemouth & Salcombe. Thank you for letting us stay in your home - it’ll be a trip we won’t forget.

  We enjoyed a blissful few days at Horsepool Boathouse, thank you. The stunning watery views combined with tasteful and comfortable furnishings made it a perfect place to stay for rest and relaxation. It was easy to sit for hours, watching the boats bobbing and the swans swimming from the beautiful big windows, upstairs and down. It was a such a peaceful and tranquil spot. When the sunshine changed to showers, we felt snug and cosy, sitting by the log burner. The foot ferry to Salcombe was only a few minutes walk down the lane, making it easy for us to pop there for a delicious lunch. Stocking up on provisions at the local farm shop before arriving was a great plan as we then felt self-sufficient for our special stay.

  Warm small comfortable cottage in a good location, bed and sofa are comfy although kitchen and shower-room are cramped. There are a few drawbacks due to the age and location of the cottage: there are a lot of worn stone steps to get to it as well as a flight of steps to get up in to it, there is no nearby street or car parking so you will join the mass of cars looking for a parking space at busy times,there is no outside space or anywhere nearby to let a dog out if it's fussy where it "goes" so we ended up walking the streets early in the morning looking for a grass verge as the nearby park doesn't allow dogs in.

  I was overall very happy with the accommodation. However one or two things need attention. Whilst the fact that the shower is ageing with signs of rust and repair did not bother me it will impact others. It was very good to have manuals for most equipment but a couple of key ones were missing including the shower. Also the brochures were in many cases very out of date and the area and attractions have changed in the last twenty years. Another positive is that when a problem arose - the gas had been turned off at the property due to work nearby - it was dealt with quickly and efficiently.

  We made a last minute booking for a short break at Stag Cottage and what an excellent decision it was. The cottage itself is cosy and very well equipped, the views are breathtaking and the bedding and bed are the most comfortable things I have slept in. We met the owners who were so lovely and had the opportunity to feed the pet Alpacas and Pigmy goats. We then met the chickens and were given some eggs for breakfast. We are already booking another two stays there as it is an idyllic location but also so close to towns and beautiful beaches and we would recommend this property to anyone.
