What our customers say about their holidays

The cottage was attractive and in the quiet rural seaside village of Flamborough which is well placed for the Yorkshire Coast and particularly for bird watching and enjoying Bridlington and Filey.
It was very warm and cosy, it accepted 3 dogs and provided bowls, covers and bedding, and treats! However there were a few glitches. The key code we were given in all communications before the day we arrived was wrong and we could not get in until we'd negotiated contact with the managers. An email correcting the number had been sent that afternoon, but arrived just before we did, having driven for 3 hours, so we didn't see it until later. There was no tea towel or oven glove but we found one in the laundry room. There was nowhere to hang towels or clothes in the shower room (this could be remedied with a couple of cheap 'over the door' hooks and a radiator rack). There was no enclosed garden (we knew this) but the patio area was actually the gravel drive outside all the cottages where cars were coming and going (and on the morning we left, where the biomass delivery lorry was parked from 8am until 10am - the driver apologized for the noise and blocking access but it was difficult to load the car and very noisy for the other people who weren't leaving with that timing.) We only found the actual open garden where dogs can be walked the second day - it is tucked away behind hedges - a sign or two indicating where it is would help. There was no visitor book - these are helpful for things like knowing to switch the router off and on again when the internet fails if other people experience this, and getting to the garden area, as well as other handy bits of information about the area.

I am probably being harsh as this was our first stay in a "three tick" property through Sykes and so I am probably comparing it unfairly.
On arrival with all the properties around the courtyard full parking is tight and I found it easier to reverse into the courtyard rather than try to turn within it. (not really an issue but I thought worth mentioning.) Having an EV you are well supported with a charger at each of the 4 properties. I suspect Sarah (the owner) may change her policy of not charging for this facility with increasing costs. There are a lot of uncared for pots and planters around the courtyard which makes the place look a little uncared for. The property was clean although the bedroom carpet could do with a clean. Possibly an end of season job but someone had been careless at some stage and spilt something which trailed from the door to the single bed. Seating is comfortable as was the mattress although the double bed frame moves significantly if you or your partner moves. Sarah promised to get her maintenance man to look at whether something had come loose. Two TV's and if you can not find what you want there is a DVD player and many many discs in a central location used by all properties. We had a good week and as I have previously mentioned probably expectations were higher than they should be for this category of property. Sarah tries hard to make sure you have a pleasant visit and maybe we should have voiced things sooner.

Postmanâs cottage is fabulous, with a cosy feel but spacious and beautifully decorated with everything you need and more.
Thereâs obviously lots of thought and care gone into making it a holiday home to suit everyone. The seating in the conservatory is lovely and a nice spot for a morning cup of tea while watching the birds in the garden. The garden is a beautiful sun trap with seating in different areas to follow the sun throughout the day. The washing facilities and downstairs shower room is great if you have those in your party who are not as mobile to get up and down the stairs to get to the bathroom often. The beds are so comfy we all slept really well while there. It is in an excellent location, halfway between the harbour and the old town, an easy 10 minute stroll either way, with plenty of amenities such as shops, cafes and nice local pubs just around the corner. Ruth, the owner, was lovely to speak to, so thoughtful and helpful, letting us know when the cottage was ready as well as giving lots of helpful advice regarding access, parking and events and things to see in the area during our stay. Postmanâs Cottage will be our first choice when looking to stay in Bridlington again as it is wonderful and suits our needs perfectly.

We have stayed in many holiday properties in the last 4 years with our dog and we found this cottage just lovely.
It's description and location were exactly as listed. The interiors were better than the photographs demonstrated (usually the other way around). The furnishings and accessories were ample, comfortable and made the cottage very cosy. On arrival we were greeted with wine, snacks, tea, coffee, biscuits and milk and more. These touches just made the first night and next morning perfect for us after a long drive. The owner was happy to communicate during our stay and very generously gave us extra time on leaving day. The cottage was very close to lovely shops and the beach. Local information was thorough (we took advice on dining, and days out). And finally we felt our dog was welcome as treats, bowls and other dog accessories were made available to us. Overall we had a great experience and would use again and recommend. Thank you.

Brilliant base for exploring as out of town.
Lovely hosting by owner and would certainly look at returning. Great for peace and quiet. Cottage warm and cosy. Amazing garden which was available to us (is seasonal) and was able to source pears, courgettes and rhubarb; only take what you need as it is shared with other cottages. Just down the road is a walk which is good for foraging; good quality rosehips and an abundance of sloes available. No problems with parking , secure parking through an arch so very large cars may have a problem as it can be tight.. Shopping just down the road and proper freezer in cottage. Some cleaning issues but owner now aware; Just a minor issue. Do not rely on WIFI as it does connect but then drops the signal. This can be expected in rural areas and was not a problem.
