What our customers say about their holidays
Suzanne - Verified booking
The parkdean resort was amazing.
The location, facilities and entertainment were great for a family holiday. We ate on site a couple of time and used the passes to access the pool and clubhouse I. The evening and both adults and children enjoyed it thoroughly. However, the caravan was not uo to the same standard as we expected from such a great site. The interior was dated, there were lots of unnecessary items in the caravan that couldn't be used such as lamps situated where there were no plug sockets. There was a lack of plug in general which meant that you couldn't watch TV at the same time as having a lamp on. The kitchen was very basic. The grill wouldn't stay on and to use it, you would have to keep the gas knob pressed in. There was only one shelf in the oven, which meant that cooking for 5 people was tricky. From staying in other caravans there seemed a lack of storage space in bedrooms. We also couldn't seem to find any instructions on how the heating worked. When we arrived the shower was on and the bathroom floor was flooded, I believe there had been a problem with the water on site before we arrived so assumed that when the cleaners were in they forgot to turn off the shower. The light switch in the bathroom was also too short. This meant that 2 of the 3 children couldn't use the bathroom at night as they couldn't reach the pull cord. It was also very hard to shut the double bedroom door, which meant waking the children up eheb the adults went to bed. I think it would also be worth mentioning that, as you are surrounded by established trees that it is quite a common noise to hear acorns falling onto the roof. This wasn't a problem but 2 of the children were a bit scared of the noise on the first night.

We booked The Leys for a family holiday - hoping that all 7 of us could be together for the first time in ages.
Sadly, because of Covid restrictions, our adult children had to visit at different times but we still made the most of all that the property had to offer and had a wonderful time. The Leys is ideal for this type of gathering as each bedroom has its own ensuite and the living area is big and airy, with plenty of space to socially distance. There is also a separate snug for anyone wanting some time to themselves. The standard of the decor and furnishings is very high, tasteful and comfortable. Much thought has been put into providing lots of activities on site for those days when you don't want to go out and for children especially - both indoors and outdoors. We loved our stay here and found the owner, Jill very helpful and welcoming. Her artwork is displayed on the barn walls and other products are also available to purchase as a souvenir of your stay. One point that should be high lighted is that the upstairs bedroom is in fact on a mezzanine level, it has walls but no ceiling and so is open to any noise coming from the living area. Having said that, it is big and includes its own settee and TV, as well as access to its own bathroom, which includes a large bath - very comfy indeed! I would and will recommend this property to anyone looking for a large family retreat in the Dorset countryside. Thank you Jill for allowing us to stay at The Leys and for all you have provided.

A great property for 2 families and 1 dog.
It's a bit tired and needs a bit of maintenance. But rental price reflects that as its very good value. Very comfortable beds, fully equipped with everything that was stated on the booking site. Bins were overflowing when we arrived, could have provided a few spare bin bags and a few extra toilet rolls and some cleaning cloths. So bring these along with you Garden could do with being more dog friendly, especially in a dog friendly property. Not enclosed at all , small stone walls that she easily could jump over. Our dog was kept on the lead when outside as lots of rabbits. Otherwise can't fault it. Views were stunning and everything was clean and kitchen was stacked with utensils, pans and cooking equipment. I've only marked the house slightly down due lack of general maintenance and the garden. Only thing you could do is provide a recycling bin for plastic waste. Sadly No acces to windermere or the bench on the latest picture .Thank you for a lovely stay. We Would stay again.

Whilst the property was nice enough the listing says it is a short stroll to Lake Windermere, however you canât actually get to the lake as there are private properties all around the area blocking you from doing so.
The property is NOT dog friendly, there is a small paved yard and although there is a lovely field and wood next to the house where it would have been pleasant to take the dog first thing or in the evening you are totally forbidden to do so thereby you have to drive some distance every time to take dog for a walk. There are lovely views in the distance of the mountain tops but immediate view is of trees no visibility of the lake which was a shame. On the ground floor and in the yard area there is no view what so ever just a mass of tall shrubs which as they grow may in time block view from upper windows too. Bathrooms have been updated but rest of house is pretty tired but comfortable enough. Sofa vey nice. Beds comfortable. Some cooking utensils could do with replacing and pans needed a good wash so didnât use them. Good base for the lakes but wouldnât go back to this property Iâm afraid.

This property is a hidden gem in a fantastic location just as you enter the Dartmoor National Park.
The views are out of this world and you truly feel like you are completely isolated from the rest of the world which is exactly what we had hoped for. There was bags of space for our group with all bedrooms being more than sufficient in size, a games room, a large lounge area and the enormous kitchen was suitably well equipped. The gardens were fantastic for our young people to explore aged 6-8. There it's lots to do and see locally and we enjoyed walks to Chagford and Sandy Park, a walk from Castle Drogo to Dewsteignton and Fingle Bridge. A little further afield we travelled to Dartmeet and Spitchwick for a picnic and kayaking, Dartmouth for some crab fishing and Saunton Sands Beach on separate days. There is so much to do from Sandsgate and we look forward to hopefully returning again one day.
