What our customers say about their holidays

Location on the site gives a magnificent view (weather permitting) out over Millbrook, the Tamar river and Plymouth in the distance, we were there in late December and most days woke to low cloud/mist.
The lodge was well presented and comfortable, living up to it's listing. Although we appreciated the thought behind the voucher for the Canteen at Marker Heights it was not used as we were too busy exploring the rest of Cornwall. It was disappointing to find the base of the microwave covered in crumbs. We were also surpised not to find a welcoming pack advising how things worked (never got to fathom out the thermoset programming but never went cold either), local health care, local eating establisments, places of interest, what to do at the end of the stay, etc. As mentioned by other reviewers parts are in need of some minor TLC, we found that the lever operated plugs in both vanity sinks were in need of some adjustment to get them to the open position, althought as this was probably the last booking of the year it is not surprising that a little bit of refurbisment is required. Taking Ollie for his morning walk, the trip all the way down to the beach and back would have been too much for his owner but if you start this trek, just below the Cliff Top cafe there is a small path off to the right which enables you to safely meander along the cliff face enabling views of the water and sand below before a short easy climb to the road which takes you back to the site. We had a good meal in the onsite pub/restaurant on the first night but then tended to eat out in Kingsand (The Halfway House Inn)/Cawsand (The Bay Bar & Restaurant), all 3 places were dog friendly which is essential to us. There are a lot of narrow twisty roads in the area so take it slowly as you might encounter a small herd of deer coming the other way as we did one morning. Would we book again - Yes.

We had a lovely relaxing holiday in this very comfortable lodge.
It was very clean and homely and we loved siting on the decking looking at the view. There were just a couple of very small things: There were quite a few light bulbs that needed replacing including the outside lights and the smaller sofa was quite uncomfortable but none of this distracted from our stay. The location is great, very quiet especially off season, which we wanted. The site is well maintained and the pub was really welcoming, dog friendly and the food was exceptional. It is worth noting there is no shop anyway within walking distance and although there is a co op in Millbrook it is a single track road to get there or 20 mins drive the long way, so bring some basics if arriving late. The other thing I wish we had known was that although the beach is right opposite the site the walk down to it is very very steep so not easy to do quickly or too often if you have a dog who is beach mad and wants to go to it at least twice a day!! The slightly easier path is within the MOD firing range so not accessible all the time. All in all we would highly recommend.

The property was faultless.
It was thoroughly clean for our arrival and the facilities excellent. The lodge itself is situated in a quiet area of the resort and offers surprising levels of privacy with plenty of parking directly outside for 3 cars. There was tea, coffee and biscuits left for us by the owner which I found a nice and personal touch. For us however it was the extra mile, sorry, extra miles that the owner went to to accommodate us at very short notice after our previously booked accommodation was totally unsuitable for us on arrival in Newquay - we cannot thank Jamie enough. I will also extend a massive thank you to the team at Sykes Cottages who worked hard to secure us this beautiful holiday lodge at vey short notice.

Generally good, comfortable, clean and well provided.
Great wifi. Some notes for the owner: - lightbulbs need replacing with low-energy ones, some are missing altogether - we couldn't make subtitles work on the TV - info about recycling / rubbish would be useful - heating controller needs new batteries (I fitted one to make it just work) - most importantly the exterior woodwork needs some protection applied urgently to prevent deterioration

A beautiful property in a lovely location.
We enjoyed our stay, but could not get into our lodge until 5.00p.m. as the cleaners were still in the lodge. On arrival at 3.00p.m. I had to take my disabled husband to the cafe, to use the comfort facilities and hang around there for 2 hours before we could unload our luggage.. A coat, of paint would freshen the lodge, but it was the end of the season.
