What our customers say about their holidays

Excellent property.
We will be back! HOWEVER, you may wish to pass on to the owner the following problems: 1. Leaving the key in a key box located inside the external bin cupboard was not a good start. We arrived at 5.30pm (just half an hour after the earliest permitted access time) so it was starting to get dark. I am 79 and my Wife is 75 and we needed to contort ourselves just to find the key box! There was a chord hanging down, which we presumed was a light, but if it was, it didn't work! So, we found the key box but it was so dark inside the cupboard we couldn't read the numbers to open it! Our 'phone torch was not strong enough but luckily a lady who is living at number 24 came over with a torch and she actually managed to get in the cupboard and get the key out of the box for us. I'm not sure what we would have done if she hadn't been there! We think it would be far better if the box was screwed to the inside of the bin cupboard door, thus once the door is open, it would be easy to locate and operate. 2. The plug in the ground floor bathroom washbasin does not hold water. Impossible to keep any water in the basin. Most frustrating. 3. Two of the five table lamps in the bedrooms did not work (bulbs need replacing?) and the table lamp in the sitting room also does not work. We only offer the above information because if no-one tells you/the owner, nothing would be corrected. We WILL be back! Regards John and Maggie Reeve.

When we booked the holiday it said the Cottage overlooked the river Dart, and you had to go up to the top floor of the house, or up onto very high raised decking outside to actually see it.
There were multiple issues from marks on furniture, stains, damp, damaged items (that we had to report to Coast and Country Cottages asap due to threat of liability), air fresheners everywhere that cause asthma, multiple windows glazing failed/inner condensation, dust and debris, food left under table, the bed on the middle floor was dirty and unchanged as it clearly had been slept on on the left side as you looked at the bed it also had sand in it too and made this room uninhabitable, numerous broken blinds, broken chair, floors not mopped, rubbish left from previous guest, being forced to open a gate for a gardener when the gate just needed a push, no welcome tray, toilet seats on all 3 toilets broken, dirty cooking pans, not enough cups for size of property, radiators closed off so rooms did not get warm especially in kitchen, BBQ absolutely filthy, stairs that able bodied people struggle with as there was no banister, issues in guest book that are still present. There is a need to inform guests of certain requirements like needing black bin bags to put bedding in. Width restrictions for vehicle access to the property and parking would be a struggle with more than 1 car or a larger wider vehicle, also parked cars directly opposite make access and egress challenging.

The property was overall lovely, and comfortable.
The issues we had were as follows... Accessibility: the description of the access to and within the property is limited on the site. The road to access is incredibly tight and difficult to navigate, especially for large vehicles. The layout of the house was not clear from description I.e two separate flights of steep and narrow stairs to access kitchen and bedroom. Not a disabled friendly property at all. Garden area: no furniture provided aside from a bench! No shaded area or parasol and the raised decking area very unkempt and rundown. Not helpful in a heatwave. Area just needs a good paint and clean up. Equipment: TV very dated and instructions unclear on how to use. Tvâs in bedrooms missing remotes so could not use freeview. Tumble dryer not working correctly. upstairs electric shower head needs a clean as holes blocked and water spraying outside of bath. Storage: every cupboard in the kitchen in use so limited space to store a weeks worth of food that had been delivered. The whole house needs some TLC, e.g finding room chair pads stained and quite damp, general re-decoration. However, we did have a wonderful week, excellent base for Dartmouth, and house more than met our needs, with a bit of attention paid to it would be an outstanding property.

Dittisham is great and 20 Dittisham Court is an attractive three bedroom house in Dittisham Court.
It's generally well-equipped and was clean on arrival. We booked for 2 weeks and there was no apparent provision for clean linen/towels after the first week. There was no owner or agent contact information in the accommodation documents (they said refer to agent) and no contact information in Coast & Country's emails which said contact owner/housekeeper. That's a minor problem for linen - but worse for no hot water. The oil boiler is on the second floor next to the main bedroom. It smelled strongly of oil and fumes from the nearby roof flue continually blew into the ensuite. Two days before leaving the hot water stopped, I tried again to find contact information and sent an email - not realising until the next day all the agent's emails are 'no-reply'. I then resorted to Facebook/Messenger and sent a message, receiving an automated reply saying C&C's team would respond ASAP - that was 15 Aug 2024 - as of 30 Aug I have had no reply. So overall a mixed experience - better communications are needed and the boiler needs looking at.

Our property was beautiful both inside and out.
They layout was perfect for 3 families sharing and there were plenty of bathrooms for all parties to use. The kitchen had almost everything that was needed; some extra baking trays would have been helpful. The location was great and the facilities on site were well maintained. It would have been better if there could have been a field for the children to play ball on as it states no ball games outside the cottage. The playground was small so not ideal for older children 10+ but good for younger. The hot tub was a welcomed addition to the property and was used every day. The main bathroom with the bath had an awful smell. This bathroom didnât have windows and so ventilation was poor which could have been the problem but it does need to be looked at. Fortunately we didnât need to use this bathroom but had we needed to I think weâd of come out smelling worse. The Wi-Fi was good and was used by all 9 of us. We would definitely return as we had a wonderful time. Thank you very much.
