What our customers say about their holidays
Melanie - Verified booking
This Spa could be so much more.
I really don't know where to start. My stay consisted of myself, husband child of 12 and 2 elderly parents (in their 80s). After a speedy, courteous check in we were shown by map where our lodge was situated, (note to anyone with a disability the parking can sometimes be a distance from the car parking area to you lodge) was even more of a headache when you have to unpack and make 10 journeys with all you luggage!! Initial look of the lodges and surroundings were really lovely, and well presented. However when we started to unpack and put things away, we immediately noticed that the kitchenette, that is advertised is merely a micorwave/cooker toaster and kettle (how you are supposed to prepare a meal in this was mindboggling), that said there were insufficient plates, bowls etc, no larger bowls to cook anything in microwave/cooker, no chopping boards, sharp knives, wooden spoons, even a tea towels was none existent etc you get the picture like nothing!! I asked reception for these utensils - response was microwave was solely for warming food up?! I did state that it was a microwave/cooker but was informed that they didn't have anything like this, we were given more crockery, and they tried with larger pasta bowls but that was it. We then noticed we didn't have any robes to use the spa, so again went to reception and asked, housekeeping did bring some along and apologised stating they would bring some of the slippers the next day, this never happened! The lodge looked dirty cobwebs in the shower areas, cigarette butts where the hot tub is (at the back of the lodge), there was a brush and dust pan no hoover to clean any spills up. I asked housekeeping how did we get our towels changed I was informed that we had to ask for housekeeping and they would sort this. This never happened. In my parents room there was no blind/curtains at their bedroom window - not what you want when undressing etc - again went to reception this was rectified the next day. The mess from the drilling on the wall was never cleaned away bits of brick dust etc on the floor and nothing to clean it away with again asked for housekeeping never came. Now into day 2 of our 7 night stay and we had a blocked drain in our walk in shower room, the water was pouring into the lounge area, which we had to mop up with towels, my husband spoke to 4 members of staff over 2 days to ask for this to be rectified, and for all the dirty towels to be removed and given clean ones - shower drain was eventually unblocked however the towels were simply pushed into the other corner of the bathroom and no clean ones replace nor did the housekeeping clean the bathroom from the dirty water!! I had to carry all the dirty towels to reception collect clean ones and raise my concern that this was not good enough! We again spoke to staff that they was a leak on the kitchen sink and the en-suite bathroom sink no-one came, and to be honest got sick of going back and forwards to ask for clean towels. At no one given time did any member of housekeeping refresh clean towels, mop the floors hoover around or remove the rubbish ( I may add that there was nowhere to place you household rubbish so once again my husband had to carry and find a larger kitchen bin which was situated around the kitchen area of the spa)!! At the end of our stay another visitor had disposed of there household rubbish pizza boxes etc was strewn all over the lawns in front of us and seagulls and birds were feeding at a frenzy! There was ants and on our 5 night stay when looking at how bad the leak was under the kitchen sink, noticed we had had a visitor in the form of a mouse!! The spa itself was lovely and so were the staff we had encountered, however our stay was really spoilt due to the lack of cleanliness, and constant back and forth with reception. Would never return no would I recommend.

From the moment we arrived, the view from the quaint road was a sight to behold.
The two properties against the wooded backdrop and luscious green fields. Chickens and fresh eggs daily. Thanks to the hens, for letting us collect their bounty. The welcome pack and sweets was a lovely touch, something for the big & little kids in our group. The property is spacious, inviting whilst homely. Every small detail has been carefully thought out. No fighting over sockets for phones, tablets etc. Layout is extremely well thought out. Heating controlled at the flick of a switch. Fans and wide opening windows and doors, to let the Welsh air in. All bathrooms are large with excellent rainfall showers. I donât know where to start about the beds, bedding, comfort to sink into. Sunny days, or showers the upstairs bedrooms views are simply beautiful. The patio at the back allowed us to fully take in nature. Whilst the grounds, secret seating, pond created with love and the sound of the steam in the background. The balcony with a large barbecue, heating and seating in two areas, allowed us to unwind and take in the hills over yonder. Those sunrises and sunsets were a sight to behold, We were even treated to a double rainbow, after storm Agnes passed through. We were not able to think of any missing items for cooking, the owners have thought of everything. All weathers taken care of, as the very large hot hub was so inviting with privacy and superb views. Last but by no means least, Vickie & Grant were welcoming, charming and knowledgeable about their properties and the local area. There if we needed them, by no means intrusive. Thanks for a fabulous stay, we will be back to their little peace of heaven. Book you will not be disappointed.

What can I say.
. WOW!! Just stunning from start to finish. The lodge is pretty much brand new and has everything we needed for our stay. It really felt like home from home. Everything has been really thought through, the owners are incredible, so helpful with any questions and really lovely people. They very kindly included a hamper of goodies and also the huge sweet jar which went down a treat with everyone who stayed with us. The bbq and hot tub area were the star of the show, we couldnt quite believe it could be better then the pictures. We took our daughter who is 1 & it could not have been more baby proof- she adored the chickens and collecting their eggs, and loved all the sheep she could see from the house. Its super safe and in a great location, we did snowdon mountain, chester zoo, even zip world is just under an hour away. Lots of beaches closeby too. Lovely pubs for food and amazing country parks for walks. It was the perfect holiday for our family & friends. Cannot wait to be back at Fron Haul!

The property was absolutely gorgeous with everything you would need on your break and spotlessly clean.
We were treated by the owner who was welcoming and very helpful. There was plenty of space for 6 of us. The high end finish to the property highlighted the thought and effort that went into building it. The hot tub was fabulous, the best I have experienced and was spotlessly clean and well maintained. Great outdoor balcony with the hot tub, barbecue, fridge and plenty of space. A large dining table and chairs allowing you to eat outdoors. The location of the property was great with stunning scenery. We were lucky to have lovely clear days in February, I imagine during the summer months the scenery will be stunning. There is plenty outdoor space with folding doors to give a fab indoor outdoor feel. There is a bedroom downstairs which is great for anyone with mobility issues and the outdoor area is fairly level, despite a decline down to the property. Ruthin is very close and easily accessible. I would highly recommend to anyone. Thank you so much for a fabulous stay.

We had an absolutely lovely stay in our lodge, the facilities and location are absolutely stunning and I would definitely recommend to anyone.
Just a couple of issues we had, the lodge was generally clean but there were quite a lot of cobwebs in corners and doorways when we looked closely, a little more attention to detail with the cleaning would be good. We were celebrating my friends hen do and we're disayri find out that on both nights of our stay the cocktail bar was booked for a private function and we couldn't use it. This was not mentioned to me when I booked and if we've paid to use all the facilities then we should be able to, it's not cheap to stay here. And finally on our first morning we went to the restaurant for breakfast and the man greeted us and asked for our lodge number and my name. As there were no menus and prices anywhere we then questioned whether this breakfast was included as part of our stay. When we were finished we asked a waitress who told us it was £14.95 each. This should really be advertised as we would not have paid this had we known.
