What our customers say about their holidays
Allister Smith - Verified booking
Little Egret is a delightful accommodation offering very spacious and comfortable conditions in a delightful location on the Solway coast. It is very well set out and in addition to the pleasant and comfortable furnishings, the front and back gardens offer additional space to enjoy the scenery and fresh air. Ailsa and Alan are very congenial hosts and are helpful and informative regarding any questions that arose. Carsethorn is a delightful village and the local pub provided a good selection of menu offerings. The regular bus service was a useful alternative if one wished to take advantage of it and apart from visiting some of the local towns there are also opportunities for coastal walking and for visiting some of the local places of interest including several nature reserves and the John Paul Jones Museum. Being in an open coastal setting provided much opportunity to admire the wonderful light effects irrespective of the weather. We had some thrilling sunrises and sunsets as well as spectacular cloud effects on dull and rainy days, all viewed through the front window of the property. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and certainly intend returning in the near future. Thank you to Ailsa and Alan.

Very pleasant cottage in a lovely village, fantastic views of Solway Firth and a few meters from the village pub. The accommodation is very comfortable and the hosts are welcoming and helpful and we are certainly intending to return in the near future. The location offers excellent shoreline walking and is close to a number of towns for exploring museums, local interest and eateries. There are several nature reserves close by which are interesting for their variety of landscapes, wildlife and scenery and some provide refreshment facilities which are very welcome on a chill day. The location is not too busy regarding traffic and one frequently encounters the brown roadside signs indicating places of interest which are always worth investigating. We loved the variety of agricultural landscapes, hill views, coastlines and woodlands and are very pleased to have stayed at Little Egret.

Excellent place to stay in a lovely little village with pub/restaurant just along the road. The accommodation was very comfortable, fully equipped, tastefully decorated and very dog friendly. The gardens were excellent for my dogs as they were fully enclosed so safe. We enjoyed sitting in the beachfront garden watching the birds and sea. The back garden was a little suntrap and very peaceful listening to all the little birds. We enjoyed walking along the beach in both directions. There are lots of different beach and woodland walks in the local area which the dogs and I thoroughly enjoyed. The pub/restaurant was an added bonus and would recommend a visit and the food was amazing. Also recommend visiting Aisla's art studio which is next door! Her art work is hung all over the accommodation. I would definitely recommend a stay at the Little Egret and hope to go back soon.

We really enjoyed our stay in Fish House as it was the perfect property for a restful and relaxing holiday. Spotlessly clean, the house was beautifully furnished and extremely well equipped - the best I have ever stayed in. There were lots of thoughtful little touches, including much appreciated nightlights and even a picnic set! The generous welcome pack was a real treat and made us feel at home from the moment we stepped through the door. The terrace and garden were a real bonus and made it easy to relax and unwind. Kirkcudbright itself is a real gem and we would recommend the art gallery, which boasts a really excellent collection of paintings and ceramics. Rock life and Dhoon beaches are also well worth a visit. I would recommend this property without hesitation.

This was our 3rd stay in Simply Suite which, I think, tells a story.
As always, the apartment was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. We love looking over to Carlingwark Loch where, this time, the swans were nesting. We enjoyed trips to Kirkcudbright and Broughton House, Kippford and Rockcliffe, a visit to Drumlanrig Castle which had lovely walks around the grounds, a drive out to Wigtown to stock up on books, as well as the charming shops of Castle Douglas itself. We enjoyed meals at Streetlights cafe and at the King's Head in Castle Douglas, Sunday lunch at The Old School House on the A75 outside Kirkcudbright and at Brambles cafe in Kirkcudbright. All in all, a lovely holiday, in a lovely party of the country, staying in a lovely wee apartment. If/when we come back to the area, we'd definitely book Simply Suite again.
