What our customers say about their holidays

We had a fantastic week with family at this gorgeous property.
The views front and back were stunning and the area was very peaceful and restful. It was nice to sit out in the hot tub and I imagine when the stars are out it would be even better. We had a lot of rain and cloud for our week, so also got to enjoy snuggling up on the comfy sofas in front of the log burner and the TV. It was brilliant to have 2 en-suite bathrooms plus the family bathroom. The large table was super for eating all together and playing cards and games together on. So many lovely finishing touches in the property, a very well equipped kitchen and the nicknacks with the fox theme were a lovely addition. The welcome hamper was incredibly generous and thoughtful and appealed to us all with Prosecco, chocolate, pint of milk, coffee, tea, biscuits, jams- a kind thought to include a bubble wand and chocolate stars for my 10 year old daughter also. The pub a 2 minute walk away, The Pheasant Inn, did great food and the tea room in Falstone was super for cake or lunch. Falstone also has a very good playground for kids and a pub that looked good too. We enjoyed walking in the area and at Kielder Forest. Booked tickets for the Kielder Observatory which was great and The Bird of Prey Centre was excellent. We drove to Alnwick and toured the castle and loved the National Trust property, Cragside. A fun week for us all. We wouldnât hesitate to recommend this property as it was perfect, in fact the best rental we have ever stayed in. Many thanks to Jill the owner who was very kind when our car broke down at the end of our stay. (Please remember your midge protection creams and lotions, as you are near Kielder Water/Forest so they are to be expected. A midge protector was also provided by the owner).

Sykes cottages were great service.
The cottage we felt to be overpriced for what it was. For a family of 5 with 3 teenage children the bathroom and toilet facilities were vastly inadequate. In the details it offers it as a cottage for 6! The bathroom is tiny, no separate toilet and the fixtures and fittings old and inadequate. Nowhere to hang towels or put toothbrushes. The towels were very small. The cooker is very small for cooking for 6 and very dated. Outside it wouldâve been nice to have had cushions for the chairs as they were often wet or damp. A parasol on the outdoor table wouldâve been nice too. On the plus side, we were very grateful to have had our shopping taken delivery of and unpacked. Bike storage was excellent. The house keeper was wonderful, very friendly. She kindly offered us a mid week clean and thankfully brought fluffy larger towels and bathrobes for us. This wouldâve been nice from the outset, considering they were available. The beds were very comfortable and the bed linen luxurious. It was a great cottage for exploring the local area. The owners have given access to numerous walking trails which was very good. The children could safely explore on foot or bikes without having to negotiate busy roads. It felt very private and very beautiful surroundings.

We had a wonderful week here.
The cottage are grade 2 listed converted stables so donât expect a square box with double glazing. Yes it was a tad cold till heating kicked in, yes there are bits that have seen better days but undertaking any work in a listed building is not a quick or simple job. So if you want all mod cons and square edges this may not be for you. If you love rustic charm, character and the most fabulous setting anywhere then donât hesitate y to book. The owners and Susan the housekeeper were lovely and sorted a couple issues out for us with no fuss or quibble. The woodlands around are great and if you have dogs they will love it. There is also a little resident flock of Guinea Fowl which we have never come across before and they are such charming birds and very quirky. Bellingham is a great village with really really good food and the residents are genuinely nice and friendly. Nothing to not like. â¤ï¸

We had a lovely week at Fox View Cottage.
The weather was very wet but this didn't stop us getting out and about. Coming back to a warm (lovely log burner) and comfortable cottage was so welcomed. The cottage was so well equipped and lots of nice touches (e.g bike shed, toys for the children and dog). The hot tub was a welcomed addition and used regularly by adults and children. The garden was very safe, small however, very adequate for a small dog and young children. Lots to do nearby at Kielder Water and Forest Park and a nice restaurant only a few steps away from the cottage. Lots of bike rides, walks right on your door step. If you are happy to drive a little further we would recommend South Tynedale Railway and Belsay Hall. A super clean and modern cottage for an active and relaxing family holiday.

We met the owner who kindly brought a casserole dish / with lid that we requested as there wasn't one available in the kitchen - apparently broken by last quests.
Kitchen equipment very good / appliances easy to use. Did feel that the mugs / glasses available were limited [how 6 people would cope don't know] as we soon run out of suitable items. Only cereal / soup bowls available so no range of usual dishes bowls to put food / salads in when preparing food. Outside top area through kitchen doors really unwelcoming with loose dirt / stained paving slabs - if redesigned it would have been far better to accommodate outdoor seating. Lower floor with better furniture better to have been on the top area. Hot tub [owner says she will be removing?] would be better if situated elsewhere - we had no interest in it and thought it just took up space. hope that these comments can be taken constructively for future reference.
