What our customers say about their holidays
Kathy - Verified booking
We had a lovely long weekend, two humans and a dog!
The place is beautifully decorated and has lots of lovely mod cons. What I particularly appreciated was how Natalia, the property owner went over and above to make us feel comfortable. Itâs a long drive from London and when we arrived I was delighted to find milk in the fridge, there was a bottle of bubbly and chocolates as we were her first holiday residents. The little caring touches like the dog treats and doggy bags were so thoughtful. The dishwasher was very welcome as it reduced friction. The hose is a short walk from Whitby town centre and a beautiful Sandy beach. We were lucky with the weather and had crispy cool but sunny days. There are lots of nice shops. We arrived on a Steam Punk weekend with lots of people dressing up and promonading around town. This may have something to do with Bram Stoler, the creator of Dracula being from this region. Lots of fish and chip shops so it was great to be able to cook at the house with nice ceramic pots and pans. It helped me manage my weight as there is a lot of yummy food to over indulge on by the seaside! Iâd never stayed in a house quite like this one where the main entrance is not on the street. The house is on quite a steep hill with limited free parking. So if youâre good with hill starts this is a great place to stay. Once again, thank you Natalia for all the caring comforts of home

I booked this as a 60th Birthday week away for my partner.
I looked at many cottages in this area. This one looked exactly what I was after. My grievance is that in the description given you were quite discrete about the pub being next door. Also as describing the outside area as a garden. To be honest the issue with the pub wasn't as bad as I'd expected as it was only open from 6pm - 9pm It did however make our view during this time basically rows of cars. The outside garden, was basically not much bigger than a patio. It wasn't great for us having the dog with us. There were no great views fron the cottage whilst downstairs. The only rolling countryside view was whilst standing at the toilet and looking out the window. So when we were sat out in the garden, we saw parked cars. On another note. It isn't that great an area for walking dogs. The impression I get is the local farmers don't want this and most of the public footpaths are hidden and the markers are not there. On the plus point the cottage is lovely and is well equipped. ( though the TV needs looking at. No terrestrial tv at all) I think you need to mention that it's next door to the pub, rather than declaring the distance. I think that was a bit sneaky. We have used Sykes before and found the previous chalet excellent. I shall look using you again, but will check with Google earth and check the listing a lot more throughly in future.

Our first visit to the seaside town of Whitby was made perfect by staying at the lovely Monteva apartment.
A real home from home we always looked forward to returning here after our long days out walking, touring or fossil hunting!. The apartment was super clean, modern yet quirky with a really comfortable bed.All mod cons including dishwasher, washing machine, coffee machine with pods provided and lots of nice thoughtful little touches we discovered during our stay such as a selection of games to keep the kids entertained under the footstool!. Wifi was good and reliable and parking never an issue (we arrived over the famous Goth/steampunk weekend) with plenty of spaces available whenever we returned after trip out with the car. A quick 5 minute walk and you were in town with a nice Co-op to stock up with essentials for the days outings, plenty of pubs/restaurants,fish and chip shops etc,Whitby is a fascinating place to wander around with some stunning walks along the coastal paths and walkways heading out of town. We found plenty of fossils on the foreshore right side of the pier heading towards the abbey with some lovely Ammonites, sea glass and a small piece of Whitby Jet (confirmed). All in all a wonderful stay in a lovely apartment and we cant wait to return again and bring the grand kids next time for some fossil hunting adventures! Thank you Natalia for letting us stay at your lovely home!

there was no mention AT ALL that you was unable to park near the property, the directions led you to believe you could park outside or very near the property. NO mention at all that you needed to collect a scratch card to enable you to park in certain zones, no directions where to park your car to do this, we called to speak to someone as was not happy we needed to walk quite a distance with our luggage and had to wait nearly an hour for a response and then it was only via txt not even a courtesy call. we then received an apology for the lack of instructions, not the ideal way to start your holiday !! the website needs to state clearly the parking situation, especially if people are less mobile or have young children. If we had known we couldn't park outside our property we wouldnt have booked it. The outside very small courtyard with fake grass smelt (from previous dogs urinating we assume) it was so bad our dog wouldnt even go out there. The bed was very uncomfortable and the website photos certainly improve the look of the property. The outside terrace certainly would not have been an enjoyable small space to sit in surrounded by a high wall and buildings. All in all we have had much more enjoyable stays at other places.

We had a wonderful stay at Martindale Cottage & wouldn't hesitate to return in the future.
Overall lovely accommodation, the only critique we had was the cleanliness when we noted a £350 service charge for cleaning. When we arrived there were lots of long hairs and dust around the white marble flooring in the unsuite, lot's of crumbs left in the bottom on the oven and the rug in the lounge was slippery under our feet so moved for comfort but found alot of sand and dust underneath. We shook the rug outside and tidied up with the dustpan and brush so it wasn't an issue, but we assumed perhaps it had been quickly over turned as we felt things had been missed. It was lovely to have a welcome pack. A well throughout outbtreats for humans and pet owners. My only feedback was the lack of sugar, salt etc in the kitchen which all other places usually provide. On a whole, the house and outdoor space was lovely, and the tree blowing outside the bedroom window in the sunlight with the view of fields was a wellbeing treat. Thanks for a lovely stay â¡
