What our customers say about their holidays
Amanda - Verified booking
We booked Pen-y-bryn for our 2 week honeymoon.
It didn't disapoint! On arrival our cottage was open for us to get into. The cottage was clean, comfortable and very well equipped. There was a welcome pack of ground coffee with a cafetiere, a trio of jams/chutney and some tea, coffee, sugar. Under the sink was a cleaning kit that also included a few dishwasher tablets. There was also a hoover, tea towels, oven gloves, bin bags, recycling bags and food waste bags. There were clear instructions regarding waste and recycling. The bed is VERY comfortable and the shower room is bliss! The towels provided were a really good quality and size, not postage stamp sized like other cottages we have stayed in! Jamie and Claire came and personally greeted us and ran through some 'housekeeping' such as hot tub operation, swimming pool, games room, recycling, and fire pit. They also gave us some amazing restaurant recommendations and places to visit. Jamie, Claire and their children are all lovely and very approachable. It is worth having a read through the guest book and noting where others recommend too. The whole complex was immaculately maintained, and the trades people we encountered were all friendly and approachable. We had a boiler issue which they sorted very swiftly. There are so many things to see and do within an hours drive of Canllefaes. The location of Canllefaes is very peaceful and waking up to hear the birds is simply bliss. There is a petrol station at the top of the drive that sells a small selection of groceries. There is a Tesco, Aldi and B&M approximately 7 min drive from the complex. We have made SO many happy memories and are already looking to book for next year.

Teifi House is a beautiful cottage in a very peaceful area sitting just above the river.
We had nothing but bird song during our stay and although the public carpark at the bottom can get busy with people doing various water sports you really arenât disturbed by any noise at all. Itâs a lovely place actually to take a picnic down to and sit by the river and a short walk up to the castle. The cottage upon arrival was very clean and tidy and was exactly as described. Yes it could possibly do with updating decor wise upstairs but it didnât let us down in anyway and we were perfectly comfortable. 2 dining tables to chose from, comfy living room, nice beds, clean linen and plenty of room for the 5 of us. There was everything we could have possibly needed provided in the cottage and even towels left out for us which was amazing. Plenty of room on the drive for our vehicles and a lovely stone bench and table out the front to have a coffee on. The only possible negative we had was it took forever to cook anything in the oven! It just didnât seem to get going quickly and then took ages to cook the food. However, that may be because weâre used to quicker appliances so we just started cooking a lot earlier than we usually would and allowed a lot longer for the oven to get up to temperature. The big plus in the area is the local little shop at the top of the hill which stocked everything you could possibly need and was very eco friendly. Very friendly staff too. We enjoyed the area, the cottage and our weeks stay very much and we would definitely book again.

We are a family of 5 adults and a dog and Teifi House was perfect for us.
I would highly recommend staying here. Itâs a beautiful setting. It is a good size and has comfortable sofas and a choice of 2 tables to eat at. The location is great with the river a minute walk away. The owner was very responsive and helpful. It was warm and comfortable and the wood burner was a bonus on one chilly evening when sitting chatting around it made for a special night. It is clean and comfortable, but still homely. The shower is fantastic. The 2 bathrooms are well equipped, although it would have been good to have a shower over the bath. The garden is a nice place to sit. Like most holiday homes, we couldnât let the dog off the lead in there as she could escape through the gate or over the low wall. With riverside walks so close this wasnât a big problem. Although generally very well equipped ( good choice of pans and oven trays) the kitchen would benefit from the knives being sharpened and a new tin opener. A bigger mat by the patio doors would be good as the outside mat collects water meaning you step in with wet feet and there isnât space for 5 people to come in onto the mat and take their shoes off, meaning the kitchen floor inevitability gets wet and muddy. Not a big issue but easy solved with a bigger mat inside or a non absorbent one outside. These are all small issues but would make a a great holiday even better. Overall the perfect base for a holiday in this wonderful part of Wales.

We stayed in The Old Vicarage in September2020. The Old Vicarage is an ideal base from which to explore the south and west coasts of Wales. The cottage is very comfortable with plenty of space and is exceptionally well equipped with everything you might need and maybe a few things you hadn't even thought of! We bought food online from a local farm supplier, which was delivered on the day we arrived, although the local shops at Newcastle Emrys have everything you could need. The main attraction of The Old Vicarage is undoubtedly the beautiful gardens, developed with love over 20+ years by Pixie. Her knowledge of plants is second to none and her capacity for work, despite her years, is an inspiration! The garden Is a haven of peace and tranquillity and if you sit quietly a close encounter with some of the local wildlife is very likely. We enjoyed some fabulous walks near the house or took a day trip to the coast and walked some of the impressive coastline. On other days we just ambled about the local towns and villages. There is plenty to do! After a day out and about there is nothing better than relaxing for an hour or so by the pond with a cup of tea, cake and a good book! We had a wonderfully relaxing week at The Old Vicarage and have no hesitation in recommending a stay there. Caroline and Mike

We had a wonderful week, exploring Wales from Tefie House.
It was so easy to book. Beautiful views from front of property across the river. Property was warm and welcoming, we have a small dog which could squeeze through large wooden gates at front, so we took gate guards with us, which solved the problem. The only problem we had was the TV, there were 4 remote controls, TV instruction was under the coffee table, but still struggled to get TV channels on it. But after being out in Welsh air we were happy to watch a bit of Netflix before bed. Lovely big family sized house. Also had a lovely email when arriving home, thanking us for leaving the property clean. Going back to the TV, in all fairness, we had a phone no to ring if there was any problems. Many thanks .
