What our customers say about their holidays

Very clean very nice caravan Problem with waste made it a very smelly stay unfortunately Residents on site are a law to themselves no bbqs allowed yet all the long term touring vans and carvans hve then and where using them.

Only one car allowed even though the lower portion of the park was empty and two caravans we noticed had multiple cars.. and we booked for three people working away with ££££ worth of tools having to be left in the back of a van next to a big layby with no lighting and very easy to break into on the aide of the a64 No waste bins on site luckily we were able to take them and dispose of them at our work Place. The guy working with us had a dog and he jumped the decking on the first day, there where also no signs anywhere regarding dogs to be kept on leads and as one of us booked on behalf of us all we never got the emails he did stating that, accidents happen and was made sure it didnt happen again. We got a personal call off the owner of the caravan we where staying in saying people(lady in bottom caravan, very rude and no manners mouth like a troth) moning about a dog being off the lead found that abit rude at 9.30pm whilst all trying relax And saying rhe dog was left on own barking witch was not the case as one chap fell Off the ladder on the first day and was bed bound for a week we stayed, we felt interrogated and the chap layed up said the next day after the call the groundsman was found lurking around the van and knocked the door after being told prior there is a chap there 24/7 layed up This shouldnt happen if you are coming away to relax and enjoy a holiday lucky for us all we where there on a working week. Grounds are very clean as was the caravan itself bar the smell witch os due to a waste issue Outside of the van not the caravan itself Lovely welcome gift in the way of a bottle of wine and dog treats wrapped in a bow Water pressure is very good. We ran out of gas the evening before we left wasnt ideal when three guys needed shower but again that cannot be helped Lady in reception very nice very friendly and helpful allways smiling that goes a long way. Bar was not open all week and not one local for a couple of miles. Would we stay again no not for work or a holiday based on the fact of someone snooping around the van and calls from the actual caravan owner at 9.30 at night we stay away regularly and have never had this

What a wonderful cottage and beautiful surroundings to accommodate our family for a week of family fun and adventure!

As regular visitors to Yorkshire I can happily say this is the best location we have stayed in and the kids pretty much summed up how homely and well equipped the cottage is by asking if we could live there! The cottage is full of personality and character and a lot of time and thought has been put in to making it a welcoming place to stay and providing everything for an enjoyable week. The wife was happy with nice kitchen appliances, the kids were never cleaner having enjoyed many a whirlpool bath and the living room was cosy and comfortable, and for once we weren’t trawling charity shops for DVDs to keep us entertained in the evenings with the kids asleep as the TV is smart and we were able to sign in to our Netflix account and enjoy our usual series with the WiFi speeds more than capable of handling everyday life! There is also a large amount of dvds present alongside board games and books for those who don’t have younger children who retire to bed early! We were blessed with lovely warm weather during our stay and even more blessed with how lovely and cool the cottage remained during our stay, no hot sleepless nights and don’t be put off if you are planning a stay at a cooler time of year, the fireplace in the living room has a lovely large log burner for cosy nights! So much to do in the surrounding area but I won’t cover this as half the fun is exploring and finding your own way, whether it be family activities, lovely villages and towns for a wander and a cream tea, Castles and ruins, hiking the moors or days at the beach! Just be assured that a mountain of leaflets and maps are provided and despite this being our 6th or 7th visit over the years to Yorkshire we still always find new places to explore! Thank you for a wonderful stay and we will most definitely be back!

What a beautiful weeks stay in such a fabulous house and grounds!

We certainly made the most of the glorious weather we were so lucky to have by playing all the outdoor games provided in the gorgeous grass paddock along with our two dogs. We did a lot of lounging on the patio and dipped into the hot tub with iced aperyol spritz (plenty of green dye/freezer space for refreshments!!!) Said hello daily to the friendly horse and sheep who made for welcome company during the stay! There’s something rather magical bathing in a hot tub whilst gazing at a beautiful horse shaded under a tree in a sunny green field and then later to the countryside starry nights sky. We definitely made the most of the kitchen facilities of which there were plenty and nibbled most days, cooked most evenings and ventured out to The Stoned Trough (which was delicious) one evening. The bed was insanely comfy and all rooms furnished to such a tasteful and high quality. All the showers were hot, powerful and never fell short despite the number of people staying/using them. We loved mooching about in the robes provided too, how can you not feel relaxed and in holiday mode in a robe!! The local walks we had were all delightful, down at Kirkham Abbey and along a couple of the rivers nearby. The footpath maps (online) are most certainly not a 100% given so we did come across a few fields overgrown over path with nettles/rape seed which we embraced, some more willingly than others! All in all a tremendous holiday, enjoyed by both Hens for the initial weekend and then my family for the remainder of the week. Thank you so much for the hospitality of Alexandra and Michael. Firstly for creating such a wonderful place to stay (we ALL enjoyed looking through the book!) and being so accommodating with our very few needs. All the best.

Our stay at Sykes Lodge was wonderful!

The house is exactly as listed, and was immaculately clean on our arrival. The beds were comfortable, temperature was warm. There were plenty of plates, cookwear and glasses for a large group. Living room was comfortable and had plenty of space for a big group to sit together. Alexandra and her husband were great hosts, and gave us a tour when we arrived to show us how to use everything, and gave us a welcome basket. The guide they put together for guests is detailed and helpful. I only had a few (very minor) negatives, flagging more for the hosts benefit - future guests please note neither of these should put you off staying at this wonderful house: - The pipes near the second fridge in the kitchen often smelled quite bad. I did flag this to Alexandra who explained it was due to leaves outside but it was occasionally quite off-putting, especially being so near the kitchen. - The hot tub had a button that shut down the whole thing and required the hosts to come and re-start it. The button looks like a typical menu button, so despite me telling our group about it, it still was accidentally pressed. This meant contacting the hosts to fix the hot tub, and waiting a few hours before they could come an help, interrupting the evening a bit. I'd suggest putting waterproof tape on this button, or a warning sign beside the hot tub, to stop this confusing situation happening in future.
