  The holiday home itself is great.

  However we were unable to make use of the veranda area during our stay as there was hard landscaping and building work going on next door. Also not comfortable using the garden at the rear as during our stay there were workmen and landscaping going on next door and there were parts of the fence missing and you could directly see the landscaping/landscapers only feet away plus the noise. This did ruin our stay which we did inform sykes that it would prior to our stay but on two occasions and in writing were informed this work would definitely all have been completed prior to our stay. We did inform them the local office and the owner regarding the situation on day 1 of our holiday. We are now returned from our holiday and have no resolution as yet. I feel as the customer the reason to choose this property above others is that it has s lovely veranda and a garden area too, both of which we were unable to make use of during or stay, we were awakened by building noise 5 mornings out of 7 between 8 and 8.30 am during the stay and the owner seems alright for us to just have to give up and come home from out holiday if we want to and he won't be offended!! Although he is apologetic about the situation and agrees it has been handled badly by the agents .

  A very enjoyable stay.

  Fantastic views and the property was well equipped. The only thing that I would say is that a couple of weeks prior to our stay we were informed of the recent refurbishment of the bathroom where the bath had been replaced with a walk in shower. We chose this property because it did have a bath. We have a 4 year old who only goes in a bath and doesn’t go in showers. The set up therefore differed from that we based our decision to book in the 1st place and made washing our 4 year old for the week more problematic. With no bath you are effectively ruling out bookings from those with small babies and young children. If it were me, I would have knocked the bathroom through into the WC next door to create a big bathroom which could then easily provide space for bath and shower basin and wc. Yes you would lose 1 wc but for a property of its size I don’t think you really need 2 toilets side by side…. The shower did begin to leak across the bathroom floor towards the end of our stay which we phoned John Bray holidays about.

  A lovely property for an enjoyable Christmas break however 2 areas prevented full marks: The door in one of the downstairs bedrooms would not open.

  This was reported on 23/12/21 the day following our arrival. I called the office and was assured this would be logged - an attempt to call would be made that day if not the next (Christmas Eve). I was asked to leave the key which I did but this was not rectified for the whole of our stay meaning my daughter & son-in- law were without fresh air in their room for the whole week. A H&S issue too I feel as this is the only access in the room as no window. If this were to have been in the summer months it would have been unbearable. The second issue was the lack of hot water for showers. There were 5 of us - not up to capacity of 8 mentioned for the property and at least 1 of us each day had a cold shower - not what you need in December!!! Did not seem to be continuous hot water available. Without these problems I would definitely re-book but it did tarnish our stay to some degree.

  We had an amazing week staying in Atlantis.

  The situation of the house gives the most incredible views over the beach. The work on the upstairs bedrooms and balcony also give breathtaking views over Polzeath. To wake up to those sights and sounds will stay in our memory for a long time. The facilities and layout of Atlantis are excellent. The outdoor shower is perfect when returning from time in the sea. Our only comment is that there is one excellent shower downstairs and two baths with shower attachments but no shower screen. If you have a house full of wet surfers a bath is not ideal and we found ourselves queueing for the shower. Shower screens and a rail for the shower head on the tap end of the bath and you have two more functional showers! That would be the only downside in an amazing home. We had a fabulous stay at Atlantis and are planning to return next year.

  We've stayed at Trevega many times over the years and we've had a lovely two weeks holiday, weather up and down but really don't mind as love Polzeath whatever the weather and just love sitting watching the sea from the window or bed.

  Was pleasantly suprised with the new and very comfortable sofa and chair after mentioning many times in the past about the old one being very uncomfortable. The new bed was very comfortable too, just a shame the TV hasn't been upgraded to a decent size smart TV as I'm sure this one is even smaller than the last one. Think it's about time the website updated their pictures too. Was also very glad to find that there now is a gate to enclose the garden only to find a huge gap in the hedge which I had to block off with two garden chairs to stop my dog a big German Shepherd from going through to the neighbours garden. In my opinion properties accepting pets should be totally secure for peace of mind. Other than that we have always loved it here and it's probably been the one we've stayed in most as we love it. Happy days! Kim
