What our customers say about their holidays

**Review of Waterside Cottage, Malpas, Cornwall** Our stay at Waterside Cottage in Malpas was overall a delightful experience.
The cottage itself is beautifully set up, offering a cozy and well-thought-out space that perfectly complements its idyllic location. The terrace is a standout feature, providing a perfect spot to relax and take in the stunning views of the surrounding area. The layout of the cottage is well-designed for its size. We appreciated the small spare room, which served as a peaceful retreat for reading and unwinding. The presence of a separate changing area/closet off the bathroom was also a thoughtful touch, adding to the convenience and comfort of the space. The kitchen is well-equipped, making it easy to prepare meals, and the wood burner adds a warm and inviting ambiance, especially in the evenings. The cottage also offers a good internet connection and a small smart TV, which were appreciated for staying connected and enjoying a bit of entertainment. The new bathroom, complete with underfloor heating, was a lovely modern addition to the cottage, enhancing our comfort during the stay. Additionally, key collection and access to the property were straightforward and hassle-free. However, there were a few aspects that could be improved. Parking in the village was a challenge at times, and on one occasion, we had to drop off our luggage and park outside the village. While this was manageable, it's something future guests should be aware of. We also felt that the cottage could benefit from a more thorough cleaning regimen before guest arrivals. Certain areas were a bit dusty, and there were quite a few spiders and cobwebs throughout the property. Addressing these issues would elevate the experience to match the otherwise high standard of the cottage. Despite these minor drawbacks, it's clear that the owners have taken great care in creating a beautiful and welcoming space for visitors. We had a lovely stay and would recommend Waterside Cottage for anyone looking to enjoy the charm and tranquility of Malpas, Cornwall.

This cottage was exactly what we were looking for and was described in the listing very accurately.
It was quiet peaceful and above all very private but within easy reach of all local amenities and attractions. On arrival the accommodation was spotlessly clean and extremely well presented with every imaginable appliance/gadget available to ensure a comfortable stay. The quality of furnishings and fittings were of a very high standard with an exceptionally comfortable bed and superbly appointed bathroom again with very high quality fittings. A log burner with all the necessary equipment was, once mastered, a very cosy addition on chilly evenings although the whole property benefitted from underfloor heating which was very efficient. The cottage also benefits from extensive outside gardens and paddock for our dog. Fresh flowers with scones/cream and jam was a nice welcoming touch as was milk tea and coffee etc. This property was perfect in our opinion and I wouldnât hesitate to recommend it for a wonderful quiet and peaceful break, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. My only other comment (not a criticism) would be to provide a folder with instructions on certain equipment within the property ie log burner, heating system and heated towel rail. Also to include the location of local amenities ie pubs restaurants and shops and also the wifi password. Overall a very satisfied customer.

The setting is lovely, with many lovely coves nearby and the farmhouse is spacious. The house-keeper Tamara and Jason the groundsman were both great and responsive. But, the experience of staying in this house was not up to Rural Retreat standards. The quality of the kitchen fixtures such as hob and oven, and the crockery was not first class. There were not enough glasses or mugs eg. The frying pans were old and damaged, these were replaced on request. There was also a sense of meanness in what was provided eg although there were plenty of logs for the fire the host provided only one lot of kindling, making it clear in notices that more kindling had to be purchased. This seemed inappropriately scrimping for such an expensive stay over Christmas. The windows in most of the bedrooms need replacing because they rattle with the winds and this kept us up during two windy nights. The one bedroom with a new window didn't have this problem. The water went off overnight due to a failed pump but we were told this was a one-off and it was switched to another pump the next morning. Overall I have given just three stars because it did feel rather like the Farmhouse needs a re-fresh and an up-scale in the quality of provision. This is the first time I have not given a RR stay five stars.

Lovely cottage.
Will return. Iâd just keep on top of the cleaning company as there were some things we noted. Hoover not working A lot of thick dust under the bed, under the chairs, behind chairs, so looks like cleaners not doing a deep enough clean. Food in freezer of fridge on arrival. Glasses not washed properly as cloudy and marked. No Hob instructions Our actual stay in the cottage was lovely. We love the property. Love the interior design. Comfortable bed. Private. Best of all is the area for our dogs to play in and to sit on patio and enjoy the sun and the peacefulness. The stairs in the cottage are steep but as long as you donât have mobility issues itâs fine. The location was perfect for travelling everyday to find new exciting places to visit. Beautiful beaches all fairly near. Great pub with super food, Punchbowl and Ladel only 2.5 mikes away . Thank you we will be back.

Gorgeous little cottage, in splendid isolation, down a track about a mile long.
Does share gardens with a bigger holiday cottage, but on this occasion, we were on our own. Steps, down to the bedroom and bathroom, are quite steep and would pose difficulty to anyone with a mobility issue. TV has a reception issue with any BBC channel but then we spent a lot of time out and so, as far as we were concerned, wasn't an issue. Finally, we did have a painter & decorator, on site, while we were here. Apparently we should have been informed of this by the letting agents but we didn't receive any such email. However we didn't have an issue with him being on site as we spent most of our time, out. The gentleman, infact, was an invaluable source of local information and we got on with him very well, I think he appreciated that we let him get on as he's been trying to decorate this property for a while but some of the clients have been less inclined to allow him on site.
