What our customers say about their holidays
Mr Beaven - Verified booking
Came and stayed in the smaller Cooks Hopper hut for 8 days and cannot recommend highly enough. Incredible value and dog friendly. The studio apartment convert has WiFi and smart TV, well-appointed kitchen, spacious wet room, and a panoramic, unspoilt view right outside your door. The local owners were friendly and helped quickly and kindly when we lost our outdoor parasol to the wind, coming back with a replacement quickly and with no recriminations. The place is clean, the air is clear, the water’s soft, the walks are myriad, farm shops abound, and the beaches are only 25 minutes away. The weather mid June was Mediterranean. The local area is picturesque and unique, and steeped in English history. Beautiful examples of old churches and country estates (check out the one near Linton if you get time). As a couple currently in a low income situation, managing to take a holiday in such a nice location with such a lovely property, not to mention being able to bring our beloved dog for a minuscule £30 (the cost for kennels for 7 nights was £300, and this way we know he’s being looked after as well as he deserves) was an absolute revelation. We only wish we could’ve stayed longer, but we’re certainly hoping to be able to come back here again, and we’d urge anyone else wanting to take a break no more than an hour and a half from west London in such beautiful surroundings. Absolutely amazing! Thanks so much to Nigel and Karen. Both of us feel revived and refreshed after the stress of Lockdown. Would rate six stars if I could.

What a hidden gem! Firstly, the owner, Jan, is wonderful - nothing was too much trouble for her. The Hideout was amazing - clean, compact and with absolutely EVERTHING provided that you would need. We were very tired having arrived after a very long overnight flight so to see complimentary tea, coffee, milk and doggie provisions (towels, waste bags etc) meant we did not have to buy anything immediately or plough through our suitcases for dog "bits". Great, quiet location - lovely walks with or without dogs. The secure and pretty outside space was lovely so the dogs could wander around freely and we could enjoy reading and just chatting the time away. The inside of the Hideout was perfect for us - it was warm and cozy, great wifi (if you need it), TV, super comfy bed and fantastic bathroom. We slept exceptionally well with good quality curtains to keep out the light, an extra heater for the bathroom and great wall mounted heater in the living area which worked very quickly (it was 9 degrees outside!!!). As we decided not to cater for ourselves, popping in next door to the village cafe and store and ordering our meals was seamless. As we had a long car journey ahead of us we placed an order for sandwiches the night before "to go". The quality and price of the food was perfect. HAD we decided to cook for ourselves, once again, absolutely EVERYTHING was provided. If we ever come back to this part of the UK I would not hesitate to visit this property again - how can you improve on perfection?!?!?!

We want to thank you for organising our trip to Dairy Cottage, it was all very last minute! We also want to thank Jane for being a wonderful host. We wanted to upload a review, but as we can't do that directly we've forwarded it on to you. We had a wonderful short break at Dairy Cottage over the May Bank Holiday. • Jane is a great host, we got a very warm welcome. The cottage has been put together with a lot of thought and is well kitted out. • The location is wonderful. At the top of a valley, the views are beautiful with no one overlooking the property. • Ticehurst and Wadhurst are both beautiful villages, with great pubs, delis etc. There's also Bewl water, as well as Bodiam castle, Battle, Hastings - so masses to do within 30 mins drive. The cottage is a real find. Highly recommended.

I stayed for a week with my dogs and had a great time. The cabin is clean and comfortable with good linen and towels. I slept well on the comfortable bed and found the location peaceful. It is only a short distance from beaches, nature reserves and country parks and a good pub the White Hart with lovely food and views. The owners were faultless, kind and friendly. Their shop next to the Cabin had lovely local produce and the dog friendly cafe a real bonus. As a solo guest I felt safe staying at the Hideout and the dogs enjoyed it too in a safe secure pretty garden that has pebbles and a grass area. A good get away from it all place to stay.

Perfect location, situated in the owners land but set down below the drive in level giving you real peace and a space for yourself. Fantastic natural grounds and country cottage feel all around you. Location is perfect we went out everyday to explore forest walks and lake walks and ended up in East Sussex travelling around. We found the location was always 20 mins away from anywhere you needed to go. Can’t wait to go back again. Really friendly owners and hosts great experience and we’ve missed not being there ever since. Very dog friendly for a little Pomeranian.
