What our customers say about their holidays
Mrs Gilbert - Verified booking
We had a lovely stay at 'Fortress'. The cottage is part of a handsome Barn conversion with a view over the garden. It was easy to find, and is in an excellent location, close to Carlisle but in peaceful countryside near to Hadrian's Wall. Fortress was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. It is well furnished and a great deal of care has clearly gone in to making it a cosy and relaxing place to stay. We appreciated all the little extras, (including a bottle of wine!), and the friendly welcome from Anne and Jonathan. Everything is well thought out. There are designated parking and outdoor spaces for each of the holiday cottages. There is a laundry room with washers and dryers which is great for muddy walkers: providing detergent and conditioner was a thoughtful extra. Anne and Jonathan (and family) went above and beyond to provide a relaxing and problem-free holiday, We would highly recommend Bleatarn Park to any holiday maker, and we hope to return soon.

Know shaun and julie for 25 years ive been there builder.
decided to have a weekend away with my cycling club .(abc centreville )the barn is situated for some amazing riding with fantastic roads ,lots of routes over the borders aswell as local . after a long ride the accomodation was a Great spot to relax and unwind but also has good WiFi & smart TV and decent pub: The Crossings was are go to pub for fantastic mich star food at reasonable rates and quality service . Bedrooms use plug in heaters but they very efficient, lounge has really good log burner with free supply of logs and kitchen uses electric aga. Nice lawned garden with views and close to great walks by Hadrianâs Wall.mabe next time ? Porch area handy for removing cycling gear wet coats! A good blend of coziness and quality in the cottage with the dining / kitchen in particular being really well done.this place is a heavan for cyclists even to ride there and spend a few days .we will be booking again Kindest regards andy

Just back from a lovely peaceful week at Swallows Nest with our 2 dogs.
I can't think of anywhere better to be at this time, surrounded by nature, animals, fields and beautiful little villages. An easy drive to the Lake District, and a nice walk into the local village which has a good shop, 2 pubs and a lovely river walk. For us having 2 dogs the totally enclosed garden was a huge benefit as we could open the patio doors and not have to worry about them escaping! (one is a husky.....say no more). Just up a path on the farm grounds, through the lovely serene pet cemetery we had access to several large fenced in paddocks for the dogs to play in the morning and evening. We were out all day exploring so it was good to have somewhere close for them before we went and when we got back. The cottage itself is a charm, lovely open space downstairs with everything we needed and 2 good bedrooms and large bathroom upstairs. I would recommend this cottage to anybody wanting to get away from it all.

The property was private and cozy even though it's on the site of a working family farm.
That was actually one of our favorite parts, it felt like we were part of the countryside/community for a couple days. And we loved saying hello to the dogs and alpacas/llamas. We visited on a chilly weekend, so definitely use the space heaters provided if you get cold easily. We only used the wood stove (on purpose) and though that heats the living area so well and was extremely cozy, it was a little chilly in the bedroom without the heater on. Again, we did that on purpose, but not all like that. Our hosts were lovely the couple times we saw them and they were super responsive to texts - for example when we needed more kindling or teabags. The surrounding countryside was gorgeous and the inn/restaurant just down the road (The Crossings Inn) was great and so close by. It's also in Hadrian's Wall country. We loved it.

We have just come back from a long weekend break at the swallows nest.
The first thing that stuck us as we walk into the cottage was the damp smell. It wasnât the cows that live next door but a damp, mould type smell. We dreaded it every time we walked back into the cottage. There at 2 small leather sofas to watch the tv on at the end of a tiring day. They are very uncomfortable. Iâve seen other people write this and laugh but itâs so true. The pillows are awfulâ¦take your own!! Hereâs the best partâ¦the hot tubâ¦donât waste your money. You have to light the fires hours before to keep the water hot, then keep stirring the tub with a huge paddle to keep the warmth moving about, then place 2 heavy covers over it until itâs time to stir it again. Itâs not a hot tubâ¦itâs a couldron!!! Other than that..thereâs 2 great pubs and some lovely walks nearby!!!
