What our customers say about their holidays
Clive - Verified booking
The cottage itself was really quite nice in appearance and cleanliness.
What really let it down was the fact the most important things involving sleeping and personal hygiene were a complete failure. The double bed was a poor quality basic bed which had been easily broken by previous guests a year ago. It was mended using pieces of wood and screws making it look unprofessional in quality. Also there was the likelihood it could be easily broken again with rough activity. The mattress was made of a poor quality memory foam which made it impossible to either get a good nights sleep or to turn over without the bed squeaking and creaking or myself or my wife disturbing each other as the bed sagged rather badly in the middle under our combined weight of 31 stone. Furthermore, being elderly, I am 72 and my wife will soon be 70, we were unable to bath, shower and fulfil basic levels of cleanliness only with extreme difficulty. On the one occasion I tried to have a bath, my wife took about half an hour to get me out. My legs could not allow me to stand up as my feet could not get a grip on the wet and slippery plastic base of the bath, there were no handles to hold on to support my weight and I kept on slipping down. Neither of us wanted to repeat this terrifying experience! The hand held shower mixer was useless as the hot water which had very little pressure was quickly nullified by the overpowering pressure of the cold water, making it impossible to mix the two as soon as the unit was raised above the level of the bottom of the hot water tank. All the windows apart from the front bedroom we were unable to open, until unlocked by the owner.

Molly's Cottage is a small terraced old miners cottage within easy walking distance of the central square in St Just.
The cottage was sparklingly clean and warm and cosy. The lounge/diner is small but cosy. The TV is ridiculously small. The kitchen is compact but very well equipped - and the fridge is a fridge with an icebox (not a fridge freezer). The washing machine works well and there's both a line outside and an airer for when it rains. The yard at the back catches afternoon sun and has a picnic table. Both bedrooms are a good size with excellent storage space. The electric shower is good and the slightly shorter than normal length bath is deep. There is no wifi at Molly's Cottage, but we had an excellent 4G signal with Vodafone. We had a minor problem with the shower leaking, but house keeping resolved it on the same day that we reported it (and the lockbox for the keys meant that we didn't have to stay in for it to be fixed). Details on how to recycle do need to be updated on the house manual and both the kitchen and the bathroom would benefit from extractor fans - it was relatively warm and dry when we stayed, so opening a window wasn't a problem. Finally, the street is narrow and parking is difficult as there are more houses than parking spaces. We managed to park outside on Friday - handy for packing the car on Saturday morning, but you should expect to park your car in St Just's free car park.

Honestly the pictures shown do not do this property justice, the whole place is even more stunning than shown!
! Val and Steve were on hand to help with any problems you had (I had an issue with the shower in the morning, I messaged Val and she offered to get Steve to come and have a look at it. Turns out I just hadnât turned it on properly). Their hosting skills were absolutely fantastic. The lodge was impeccably well put together, tidy and clean. The kitchen was fully functional and had the options of a washing machine and a dishwasher which made the stay a lot easier. Val and Steve went the extra mile and put balloons and banners up as they knew we were attending for my daughterâs 12th birthday, they even left a lovely card for her. She really was over the moon. The hot tub was heated and ready for us on arrival. There was lots of information sheets, DVDâs and the choice to book swimming which meant we had lots to do!! I have rated them on here as high as I could but they really do deserve the highest ratings!! We will definitely be booking to come back again in the future. I would also like to add that where the lodge is located it is very tranquil and quiet. I loved waking up in the mornings and seeing the view from the balcony when I went upstairs in the morning.

Had a lovely week, lovely location, clean and very accommodating.
Site staff were friendly. Tv aerial either faulty or needing better aerial, as tv required was required when raining and signal was playing up, connector seemed loose. Beds were comfy, bedding was clean. Trees could do with lopping back a bit to protect lodges. Games room was good fun. Pool times were awkward, and no availability outside when rain forecast, even though it didnât rain. Also, pool shut early outside when plenty of sun and light would have allowed a swim. Never got to use outside pool due to restrictions. Inner pool said to book online but we were allowed in as it was almost empty and allowed to stay over booked time slot. Would definitely stay again and recommend to friends. Welcome pack of drinks and biscuits was a nice touch! Restaurant made good food and was dog friendly which was nice to see. Meals were large! Internet was weak, being in a valley, I guess. Thanks for a nice holiday!! Went to Eden project, Rock, Fowey, Padstow, Jamaica inn, camel train, Polperro, Poole, Tavistock ( Friday market). All great places. A visitors' book would be a nice add on to the lodge.

The setting and location was lovely.
The lodge could do with some investment as looking a little tired. Understand this is a holiday lodge but the table and chairs and settees and double bed were not the best. It was perfectly functionable though and did not ruin our stay. The lodge did smell damp downstairs, I believe this is to do with the area as mornings outside would be damp but if heating not turned on even for an hour to dry your bath towels etc then downstairs did not really warm through enough to dry out and I believe this also added to the dampness. Once turned on the space dried out and the smell disappeared. Might be worth noting this to potential guest to help combat this issue in the future. There was black mould on some of the windows and back of the curtains (although clean) you could see where this had been an issue. The decking outside also needed some maintenance. We had a wonderful stay and none of this effected our holiday but I think this might be helpful to future guests and the owner if not stayed at the property recently. The space and size of the property was ideal for us.
