What our customers say about their holidays
Darren - Verified booking
Hi spoke to owners before as asked and were told a welcome hamper would be in the cottage as âthere is nothing worse than a long drive and then not being able to have a cuppaâ.
We had a 6 hour drive purposely not stopping as provisions would be there but there was nothing there.I text owner and rang he said he would ring later but didnât bother! We then had to go out again to find a shop as it was hot Tesco fridges weâre all down so then had to try to find somewhere else! We arrived back and weâre greeted by dogs barking in our face before the owner came up to us. She asked if we wanted showing around but I said no as we had already been here an hour but had to go to the shops as nothing was left for us. She said oh is it not in there I said no and Iâve contacted your husband but no real reply. She then said oh we had a very busy day and forgot you were coming!! No apology she just went and found us a packet of buns! I would of expected a â Iâm so sorryâ and the next day for our hamper to be given to us with a sorry. Nothing we did not see or speak to the owners once! As we were leaving the owner came out of his cottage and said âoh we havenât been introduced â I was gobsmacked at the lack of welcome or apology and have never had that type of experience ever. It spoilt the beginning of our holiday as in the book people commented on how lovely a welcome they got along with the provisions which were wonderful. Well we got neither nor an apology of any kind. Shocking way to greet people or not greet them. This was our first holiday since covid. What a shame.I will do my own review on Tripadvisor anyway.

As soon as we arrived, Mugwell Barn felt like a home from home with everything we could possibly need for our holiday and with lots of storage to put all our things away.
The welcome pack was very much appreciated and very generous. There are lots of leaflets with places to visit. We were very glad of the fan at night, as we had the most amazing weather during our stay and the barn got quite warm while we were out and about exploring. Lyn and David are the perfect hosts ⦠helpful, friendly, but allowing you your privacy. Mugwell is a great base to explore the area, both Cornwall and Devon. We visited Tavistock, Edgcumbe, Bodmin Moor, Dartmoor as well as the coast (Polperro, Fowey, Bude) and did a few forest walks too. Some of the roads are very narrow, which added to the fun of exploring. We walked to the local pub a couple of times, the food is good, hearty food. The only thing weâd change would be a secure boundary to allow our dogs to roam about safely while we were in the barn, but there is a field close by for the dogs to be let off lead, so it wasnât really an issue for us and we kept the dogs on long lines when we had the doors open so that they couldnât roam too far (and so that we could relax without wondering what mischief they were up to!). We would stay at Mugwell Barn again and would definitely recommend it to anyone. Thank you for making us so welcome.

The property is well located for Sennen Cove, but the name âsea the viewâ is a bit misleading as it doesnât really have sea views.
The rooms are very nice quality and design and a lot of thought has gone into it. The photos on the listing showed comfy outdoor furniture but this had been replaced with less lounge furniture (which is obviously easier for them to maintain). So there was nowhere we could all sit and lounge outside (the comfy corner sofa chairs were not there, the swing chairs had been taken down etc). So it wasnât quite as expected. The bed linen was lovely quality but the pillows were awful - I get this is very personal but I had to go out and buy some as they were that poor and the main bed had a super firm mattress. We had problems with the main patio door not working which meant there was a gap when they were closed and as it is quite an exposed garden the draft and noise of the wind was quite annoying. In addition we had a day of driving rain which lead to a large leak flooding the floor under the picture window. Eating in all the basics crockery was there but for example there was no salad bowl or serving plates, so if you were wanting to do a nice meal in it was a bit basic. The addition of an electric charger was very helpful. It was lovely but overall for the high price I donât think it quite delivered.

Beautiful home, we felt bad when we left as we wanted to leave a few comments in the guest book but no one had a pen!
Thanks so much for a wonderful stay!! We actually stayed in one of these last year (sea scape) and as we love it in sennen so much we wanted to come back. Sea the View didnât disappoint, the bedrooms are beautiful and the bathroom and showers fantastic. The views are amazing too. Downstairs is lovely and the kitchen has everything you need. Couple of ideas for the new owners, it would be great to have a little bistro set to sit at outside, the big day bed and table isnât great for anything other than lazing back! Which we did lots of course! And maybe pop a little cafetière in the cupboard - weâve always had one in all the places weâve stayed (even when there is a coffee machine) so it was unusual not to have one. The garden could do with a tidy up - Iâm not a huge gardener but little things like pulling out the dead leaves really make it so pretty when youâre sat outside. These are just little things tho, we had a wonderful time and will DEFINITELY be back!! Thank you!!!

We had an amazing few days in Tre barn and were so sad to leave!
It was beautifully decorated and furnished. The high ceilings with wooden beams and the wooden flooring was just beautiful. With lovely little touches and details, such as motion sensor light in the bathroom, plenty of hooks to hang coats etc, prosecco chilling on arrival. The super king bed was the comfiest bed we've ever slept in! The location was perfect - lovely and quiet but close to get into Crantock and Holywell for the beaches but not far to drive into Newquay either. We found the barn super dog friendly and our dog settled in straight away - dog towels provided, biscuits, dog bowl. The astroturf grass and enclosed garden were a huge bonus for us with the dog - and something we find hard to find when looking for holiday cottages!! We couldn't fault Tre at all and will most certainly be back - we are already looking at when to book again!
