What our customers say about their holidays
Mrs Gregory - Verified booking
Overall we had a nice week in February. The hosts were lovely and met us on arrival. The cottage was cosy and comfortable. The furnishings however are dated. The kitchen lacks utensils and equipment to be able to use it fully. The pillows didn’t have protectors on. The rear garden is nothing like it looks in the pictures and was in bad need of a power wash. The flags were slippy as were covered in moss and algae. There were also steps in the garden which were difficult to negotiate. The main issue with the property is the location and this not being as described. It is very close to the village however this is up a steep hill. There is no-where to walk from the cottage that doesn’t involve a steep hill. Parking was also not ideal. It is on the road facing the cottage - the road is extremely busy for a rural village. Once parked you have to walk on a patch of grass to access the passenger side of the car. The village has some nice shops but the pubs were poor. Im sorry but we wouldnt recommend or stay again. With updating and maintenance in the garden it could be massively improved. However, nothing can be done about the hill or parking facilities.

An excellent cottage, unbelievably well equipped.
The cake, wine and milk left for us by the owner was such a lovely touch, thank you. The views from the lounge across the hills were unbelievable and it was lovely to be able to walk into Pateley Bridge to enjoy a meal in the evenings. The owner was extremely helpful and friendly and I would highly recommend Wren Cottage. Unfortunately the same can't be said of Sykes who were supposed to send us a £40 discount code upon return to book a future holiday with them. Five weeks later, and after numerous phone calls to them, each time being promised it would be sorted, I'm still waiting. This is now the 4th holiday with them this year that I've had the same problem. Their Customer Service, if indeed it exists, needs a complete overhaul. How hard can it be to send me an email with the code? I am now waiting for 2 codes. Come on Sykes, sort yourselves out and give some customer satisfaction!!!

A very nice property with great potential.
Lovely bathroom and shower room. Good sized bedrooms and an added bonus of a downstairs toilet. Real fire was a bonus although no starter pack or matches available and no companion set. Air fryer was also a bonus. The property would benefit from a little tweaking such as: A food cupboard to be made available in the kitchen Waste bin in the bathroom and kitchen roll to be provided. Provision of ice cube trays. Drawer units in the second bedroom needed More coathangers needed. Also when air vents on it is very noisy in the attic room- worth warning people so it can be turned off during the night. Instructions needed for the TV. No visitor book - it would be good for feedback. The points above are just small points -which would enhance the experience but overall it is a lovely place in a fantastic central position near the high street in Pately Bridge.

Great short stay in a wonderful location (8 years since we last stayed at Pateley Bridge!
) - the cottage was fantastic, comfortable and a bit like the proverbial Tardis. We cooked from the cottage quite a bit, which was easy with such good butchers in the village as well as convenience stores such as Spar and Nisa. Loved a pint of Summit at The Royal Oak. The whole place and cottage just chilled us all out. Went to the Forbidden Corner - great but weird day out. Weâve been to Hawes several times lately so skipped that, but couldnât resist Grassington - lovely cafes and pubs to eat out in. The cottage owners are incredibly helpful, nice and donât stand on ceremony - if they can make a guest happy, they seem to get a kick out of that. Theyâre new to the property apparently, but I can tell you they want to make a very positive impressionâ¦..and they did.

Excellent property - really comfortable, cosy place to stay.
The only thing that we didn't like the look of from the photos was the cooker which seemed old fashioned but it was fine! We like cooking and had no problems with it at all. Kitchen was great. Rooms were all good, bathrooms excellent. The kids were very happy. Pateley Bridge is a lovely place to base yourself, the people are so friendly and you can get all your weekly provisions on the high street. And the surrounds are stunning - we visited Saltaire, Haworth (and the steam train), Grassington, Fountain Abbey, Bolton Abbey, Simon's Seat, York - it was a full week, we loved it! My grandparents used to live in Dibbles Bridge and my Mum worked at Stump Cross Caverns in her teens, but I haven't visited for 40 years too long. We will be back soon! Thank you so much.
