  This UK staycation was an absolute hidden gem that we are so pleased we stumbled across on Sykes.

  The photographs of the location and decor do this property absolute justice and the detail put in by the owners for our stay was on point. Very clean, well laid out living and bedroom areas, great modern touches like the electronic Vellux blinds/windows upstairs, and all kitchen appliances, cleaning and cooking materials you think you’d need. We could quite possibly turn up and still have all we needed for our trip which made the stay more comfortable the moment we arrived. We arrived to the barn set up with twinkle lights on the beams and a perfectly decorated Christmas tree to top off the decor for our winter visit in November/December. We recommend definitely booking a long visit here and to take advantage of the local places to visit like Thursk, Ripon Abbey National trust, York, Leeds and some other local treasures. 2 large supermarkets about a 15 minute drive away, and with full kitchen amenities you didn’t even need to leave the barn and often enjoyed a lock in playing board games, enjoying the log fire and the hot tub (great outside space especially if you are a bird, aeroplane or star watcher as the sky was so clear!) We visited a dog friendly pub called The Black Horse, Kirklington, for a Sunday Roast and to watch some sport. The owners were so friendly and the meal was so good we went back again later in the week for their midweek set menu. The Pub dog Lenny was a charmer and made each guest feel special the minute they walked through the door. We would definitely recommend you to bring a vehicle to get about to neighbouring villages (there is also electric vehicle charging available) but the local walks with the dog were just beautiful. Not even a negative to say apart from we kept the curtains closed to have more privacy from the courtyard in between the other properties on site and suggest a larger TV screen to fill the ample space in the living area. We are looking out for available dates for us to book to come back as it was the most relaxing birthday station we have had since we started using Sykes Holidays.   We had a wonderful holiday at Green End House.

  The house was exactly as pictured, spotlessly clean and there was so much space for us all. The cupboards full of games, books and dvds were brilliant for rainy days and the table tennis table was a huge hit. The bbq and hot tub were also much appreciated! The village was perfectly placed for some lovely days out at Brimham Rocks, Lightwater Valley and Thorpe Perrow. The local pub - just a five minute stroll from the house - was super friendly with tasty, reasonably priced food for all the family. Notes for the owner: We would have liked a working dvd player in the super comfy red room- we couldn't get the telly to work in there at all; instructions for how to work the dishwasher in the utility room (loaded it, then couldn't figure out how to turn it on!) and Mum says to mention that the en-suite door in the second bedroom doesn't stay shut. These are teeny tiny niggles - our holiday, and the house, were absolutely fantastic and we would love to return someday.   A stunning, spacious and comfortable large property in a lovely location.

  It provided a great base to celebrate my 50th birthday with family/friends. The kitchen is huge and has everything (and more) than you would need for a comfortable stay. The downstairs space includes three living areas providing plenty of space to spread out. Upstairs, are five good sized bedrooms. The master suite is just incredible- stylishly designed and cavernous. The table football and table tennis are fun additions and there are a plethora of games/DVDs to use. Good location nearby to Ripon and Thirsk and just a hop off the A1M1. There is also good cycling from the house on fairly flat/minor road and plenty of space to store bikes. Suzy the owner is fabulous, contacting you before and during your stay to make sure all is well. All in all a truly wonderful location/house to provide the backdrop for a get together and where special memories can be made. Highly recommended.

  Emma was a brilliant host, we received a very warm welcome and were provided with complimentary items, such as croissants, bread,milk and juice which was very thoughtful.

  The house is stunning, the kitchen/ dining area was a fantastic space to socialise with the rest of the guests. The whole house is equipped for all needs (two dishwashers!) and plenty more. The house also includes a downstairs room with disabled access with a large walk in shower/wet room. All rooms are furnished beautifully and the bedding/pillows are such lovely quality. The whole house is immaculate with beautiful finishing, especially the barn gate hanging from the ceiling which was an amazing feature in the kitchen. As we were celebrating a 60th birthday, we found the location was great for a country getaway as well as a short taxi journey to Northallerton where we booked brunch at The Potting Shed. Overall the weekend was perfect and beyond our expectations, it is the nicest holiday home we’ve visited, definitely recommend this beautiful home!

  Recently had a fantastic stay at The Barn.

  The accommodation was excellent and very peaceful surroundings. Cliff the owner was very informative and gave us details of local walks to do in the surrounding area including Highparadise and Richmond which we enjoyed then returning back to the Barn and relaxing in the Hot Tub in the evening was a bonus. The Barn is close to Northallerton for all your needs and its within easy reach of Whitby and the North Yorkshire Railway should you fancy a trip on a Steam train and Goathland was worth a visit if only just to see the station and where Heartbeat filmed as Aidensfield. Depending on time of year RSPB Bempton Cliffs is worth a visit to see breeding Puffins and beautiful Gannets. The welcome hamper went down a treat and we would have no hesitation in recommending The Barn to friends and family as a great place to stay. Thank you x
