Wales Cottages with Hot Tubs

Wales is a land of contrasts and character, from tall mountains, amazing national parks and some of Britain's best beaches in the north, to small fishing villages, abandoned mines and the lively towns of Cardiff, Swansea and Abergavenny in the south. Speaking of character, there are lots of great cottages in Wales and if you want accommodation with that extra hint of luxury, you might opt for a property with a hot tub.

With so much to do across both North and South Wales, including thousands of miles of hiking trails and cycle routes, by the time you get back to your cottage chances are you'll be a little worse for wear. A Wales holiday cottage with hot tub facilities take the idea of a relaxing getaway to a whole new level. If you're looking for a romantic little hideaway for a few days, the addition of a hot tub can add a touch of magic - just don't forget to pack the champagne!

Wales holiday cottages with hot tub facilities are ideal if you're looking for something really special, perhaps a little honeymoon hideaway, and want to enjoy the slower pace of life, a few bubbles and plenty of blissful relaxation in the idyllic Welsh surroundings.

Best locations for a hot tub holiday in Wales

Wales is a pretty big place, and wherever you choose to stay you're bound to be within a short drive of some amazing attractions. There are three national parks – Brecon Beacons, Snowdonia and the Pembrokeshire Coast – areas of unspoiled natural beauty ideal for hiking, cycling or a spot of birdwatching (keep an eye out for red kites and ospreys). What our customers say about their holidays

The cottage was lovely, clean and comfortable and the owner was helpful putting things right as necessary.

What let the cottage down was the basics not being available. No hand wash in the kitchen, the tiniest amount of washing up liquid, not one dishwasher tablet, no fire starter pack, one solitary toilet roll, the smallest welcome pack we have ever experienced, 2 tea bags, 2 instant coffee sachets, pint milk - welsh cakes were appreciated though, no spare bin bags, resolved, no hot tub towels, resolved, no washing line or clothes maiden, resolved. We don't expect all inclusive and we bring provisions it did feel that the basics were skimped on. The lack of a visitors book was a real shame, as they can be so helpful with previous visitors recommendations. There is an information pack however it is out of date. We went to a market detailed in there to find is ceased trading a year ago and the farm shop has very little there not worth the drive. Some of the places recommended are a long way from the cottage. As previous visitors have mentioned, the bathroom can become smelly at times, the lack of net curtains in the bedroom creates a lack of privacy. The hot tub recommended temperature of 34 degrees creates a luke warm tub and is nowhere near hot enough. We have rented several properties with hot tubs and have never encountered this. It should be declared on the listing, I would not book a cottage that insisted on this. Again, this felt like a cost cutting exercise. Overall, an absolutely lovely property and the owner was helpful. We had a lovely time staying there, just needs a bit more attention to visitors' needs.

Our stay at Rivendell was excellent.

We stayed there for four nights and enjoyed every minute of it. As soon as you walk in the front door you are hit with a wave of freshness and cleanliness. The layout is over four floors so not ideal for physically impaired visitors. However it has a wonderfully cosy feel inside. The kitchen is lovely and was adequate in terms of space for the two of us. It was well equipped with different options of cooking so you can take your choice. The outside space is great. You can either sit by the fire pit when it gets a bit chilly in the evening, or sit on the small lawned area for a cup of coffee. There is also a gas bar-b-q which we used and was very handy on a beautifully sunny afternoon, but the part we enjoyed the most was the decked area at the furthest part of the garden which included a lovely wood fired hot tub. The owner of the property Gordon came around everyday to fire up the hot tub and get it ready for when we wanted it later in the day. I cannot really emphasize how helpful Gordon was as a host. He went out of his way to make our stay as comfortable, welcoming and enjoyable as possible. If we are up that way again I will definitely look at staying again, and will certainly recommend it to any couples that we know. Thank you Gordon for everything you did.

We had a brilliant week in the bungalow!

It was perfect for our 16 month old and we felt relaxed and like it was home from home. The hot tub and the views from it were amazing, we would highly recommend time in the hot tub in the evening with the amazing starry sky - hardly any light pollution! We loved the super king bed & will miss that lots. Half way through the week we were asked how things were which was good. The WiFi was great, especially as we didn’t get phone signal. The games room was freezing so we didn’t venture into it, but the heating in the rest of the place was perfect and it was quick to heat. We visited The Ela Valley many times, Devil’s bridge and Gilfach nature reserve. We also did lots of green laning in the Landry. We organised a Tesco delivery! We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay and loved it being so remote and quiet. Was definitely one of these best holidays we have had. The only negatives were that it didn’t have much personal touch like a guest book or reccommendation book. We also did not meet Carl the owner and that might have been nice. He wasn’t great at responding to texts in the lead up to our stay. The smart tv was fab but we couldn’t really watch it as streaming was too slow. Nothing major, a brilliant stay and we will definately be back!!!

This is the second visit to Glan yr Afon bungalow.

This time we enjoyed a longer stay of 5 nights in the beautiful Elan Valley. We visit every year, every time finding or doing something new. It truly is one of the most beautiful areas of mid Wales. The bungalow is spacious, clean and well equipped. The only thing I felt was missing was an outside space to dry clothes (a line or clothes horse to take outside would be good) but it didn't affect the holiday, just bring one if you think you will have good enough weather to dry clothes outside! The location is stunning. Rolling hills, sheep, lambs and kites out of every window. At night dark skies filled with stars! It is about 2 and half miles away from the nearest shop so have what you need with you when arriving. Fabulous trails to run and walk and great cycle routes. There is a great off road walking/cycle path going from Rhayader all the way to the reservoirs (probably not so suitable for a road bike as there are many gates to open and close! but safe for kids and those less confident on the roads). There is SO much more to see and do here. Riverside walks, paddling, access to kayaking in the River Wye. Leave the car parked somewhere safe and explore this wonderful place! We'll be back (maybe without the children so we can do even more exploring!!!)

The property is in a very nice secluded area, with great views and you aren't overlooked; great location to explore the area.

The inside of the property is very spacious, some of the furnishings such as the beds are a bit dated and hard. The fridge freezer is quite small, we struggled to get 4 days worth of food and drink in the fridge; there was no shelf on the inside of the fridge door to stand up any open liquids such as milk/wine etc. Be prepared to take EVERYTHING you need, there was no welcome basket/essentials such as tea, coffee, sugar; not even salt or pepper. The hot tub outside is extremely muddy with bo extra paving around it, so take suitable shoes to wear. Getting the lid on and off without slipping in the mud was a challenge. The hot tub itself was warm but the jets didn't really work which was disappointing. Due to how muddy it was outside take extra towels for any four legged friends you take with you. The hallways/kitchen/diner is all hard/tiled flooring which will get muddy, we kept the living room and bedroom doors shut at all times to prevent the dogs running on to carpets and soft furnishings. Take extra tea towels as the property only provides one for the duration of the stay and we had to purchase our own hand soap as well as there wasn't any. We were unable to clean down the floors as there were no cleaning products to do so.
