What our customers say about their holidays

The Rooftop is a superb property in a very convenient location.
We had a great time and would definitely return. A few small niggles which might seem really picky but hopefully is constructive. There were 3 of us staying and we were only provided with 3 sets of towels. I think an additional hand towel in each of the bathrooms should have been provided (bath mats were provided). We bought a couple to use during our stay. The towels that were provided also all had bleach marks on them. The towel ring in the downstairs bathroom was broken, as was the airer in the kitchen. The utensils in the kitchen werenât of great quality either, such as the peeler and pizza wheel which bent when using. The knives were also not very good but a sharpener was provided. The placemats and tables in the lounge/kitchen area could do with replacing as they werenât of a great standard. Some of the crockery was put away dirty so maybe this needs checking a bit more thoroughly. Food was left in the freezer too (ice lollies and garlic bread) which ought to have been removed. There were also condiments left in the cupboard which is fine but we threw away the mayonnaise as it should be refrigerated! The grill pan was filthy when we arrived (I did clean it during or stay). The main light in the twin room wasnât working either. Whilst all this might sound very negative, The Rooftop is a really lovely place to stay, extremely warm and comfortable. The beds were super comfy and the hot tub was amazing. The weather was pretty awful whilst we were there but it didnât matter as we were very happy relaxing in the apartment. The lounge upstairs is a real treat, huge and very comfortable for us. The apartment is spacious and well equipped, in a very convenient location to explore Buxton. We had tapas at Santiago, pasta at St Moritz and a delicious meal at Simply Thai.. all within a 2 minute walk of the apartment. You wouldnât go hungry in Buxton! All in all, I would certainly recommend it as a place to stay!

We thoroughly enjoyed our week-long stay at The Rooftop in Buxton.
We are a family of five and found the accommodation spacious and very clean. The property was uncluttered, well-furnished, with excellent facilities. The owner lives very close by and proved to be warm, welcoming, attentive, and very helpful. The Rooftop, as one might expect, is accessed via two flights of stairs in addition to being split over two levels, which may not suit everyone's access needs. The ceilings are generally very high, although the upstairs rooms have sloped eaves and some head-bump hazards for the tall among us. The location in central Buxton was superb for access to food, sight-seeing, and shopping. The roads are busy, but night-time noise was not too bad. The lockable parking space that comes with the property is an excellent bonus. We greatly enjoyed the Rooftop's signature roof terrace, which has a dining table and hot tub. It's very private touch of luxury. It is possible to smell food cooking from the restaurant below, but it's not overwhelming or unwelcome. The flat was very comfortable - beds and sofas very soft, dining tables, chairs, and bar stools very practical. The kitchen was well-equipped and convenient. We found the flat, particularly the uppermost bedroom very warm, even with the thermostat set low, but it was not a problem. In short I would recommend the Rooftop as a good base to stay in to explore Buxton and The Peaks.

We (family of 4 with 5 and 7 year olds) had a lovely stay at South Lodge Cottage.
Communication with the hosts before and during the stay was excellent, and the homemade cake on arrival was delicious (although we didn't manage to finish it all!!). The cottage itself was very clean and was actually more spacious than we thought it would be. It was very well equipped with everything we needed for a three night stay. Smart TV was useful for catching up with Netflix with a glass of wine once the kids were in bed! Good central heating system which kept us nice and cosy, as well as on demand hot water. Great location too. We visted Dovedale, Derby, Sudbury Hall as well as going slightly further out towards Castleton. Unfortunately, we visited during Storm Dennis, so we couldn't make the most of the beautiful garden although our boys still had a run around out there and looked for fish in the pond. I imagine it would be fantastic on a warm summers day. I would highly recommend this cottage! Thank you for a lovely stay.

Amazing house and neighbourhood!
We were greeted with a warm, cozy house upon arrival with some lovely treats, waiting on the table. Outside, there's a beautiful old bridge with a gushing river passing through it and its just to the side of the property. On the opposite side, a pathway leads towards the river bank itself, where you can see ducks, trout and catch glimpses of Heron! My girls loved feeding them all!! Coop is just around the corner and eateries/ shops literally at your doorstop. Its centrally based and an easy walking and driving distance to places like Chatsworth, Bakewell and Matlock. The house is very cosy, immaculately clean and beds very comfortable, the hot tub is an extra bonus. The kitchen is well equipped and the conservatory is perfect for a morning cuppa! The owner came over to help with lighting a log fire and was very courteous, kind and accessible at all times. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Toll cottage and would love to come back again.

4 of us stayed for 2 nights.
Great to have our own bedrooms and bathroom. Disappointed no welcome pack, a pint of milk, bottle of wine and some local products would have made all the difference, there were only 2 tea bags. The location is perfect but parking is a nightmare especially with a large car, we struggled to get the posts up and down thank goodness it wasn't raining. The rooftop is lovely but the table and chairs needed to be wiped down before we could use them and they really could do with replacing. We were initially disappointed with the hot tub as no seats but once we were in it was fine. The pillows aren't very good quality and need pillow protectors on them. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay just a few things would have made it even better
