What our customers say about their holidays

On arrival, out of respect, I took my shoes off but unfortunately the carpet in the bedroom was soaking wet.
When discussed with staff, they said it had been deep cleaned prior to us arriving. The cabin was clean and well presented but unfortunately with the carpet being so wet, there was a strong damp smell throughout. The shower was cold. This was mentioned to the reception staff, no one came to sort it. Due to having PTSD, I have a service dog. I explained this to staff but unfortunately this wasnât passed down and I was repeatedly questioned by multiple staff (some lovely, some not so kind) about this even though she had her labelled harness on. Unfortunately, 1 member of the bar staff was extremely rude- when I went to the bar to get a drink she was standing with her work colleague, looked me up and down and said to her work colleague âYou can sort that oneâ. There was a dog roaming around outside the cabins, pooing everywhere which the owner didnât clean up even though there are lots of dog bins. I had to point this out to staff. I refuse to pick up other peopleâs dogs poo. On leaving, there were two males sat in their car on the carpark right outside reception smoking very strong cannabis. Marian staff were seen walking past the car but nothing was mentioned. The car parking spaces were small and the disabled parking spaces were small too, there was only 4 and were being used by people in large trucks with no blue badges displayed. As a disabled badge owner, this is extremely frustrating!! I would like to say on a positive note- Jason the handyman was an absolute godsend and I wished I got to thank him before we left.

This was our third stay over a period of ten years.
The cottage is lovely, which is why we came back. The cottage is showing and suffering from its age and wear. The seating in the front room is very uncomfortable and ready for a change. The window frames are in a dire state. It would be a shame if these cottages closed. The cottage is just a lovely place to stay. Mostly quiet farm setting with the Manchester airport flight path being the only source of noise. If you wake early (~5:30am) then this is unlikely to be a problem. It was a nice touch that the cottage now has Wi-Fi. It struggles to reach upstairs but itâs a welcome addition. I recall having to provide my own solution previously. Free access to Tatton Park and the farm is a bonus. We had visits from the Donkeys who were very inquisitive. Geese, pigs, chickens and goats were also there. Kitchen was good and well stocked with pots and pans. I do like this place and I hope that it is looked after and kept in good condition. It must be generating a bit of revenue for the council / National Trust.

Our booking was for lodge 41 with stairs, on receiving the key we got all our luggage up there, then on looking around we found that the lodge had not been cleaned the floors had not been swept or mopped dirty and stained the fridge and microwave had not been cleaned, the crockery and utensils was dirty the bedsheets had not been changed windows dirty, we notified the reception and they gave us another lodge this lodge was better but still had to clean the microwave pots and utensils, that staff were lovely and helpful , parking was also a problem as the gym and swimming pool was used by members and vehicle's coming and going were noisy with doors being slammed and they shouting over to other gym members, would be better if gym members were to solely use an overflow car park, all staff were helpful and pleasant, the electric radiators was complicated to work and could not get all to work with it being February it was cold, those radiators that was working was noisy making banging noises

The location of the property was as advertised but the property itself was very tired looking - inside and out.
The lounge furniture wasnât really comfortable and the door between the 2 apartments wasnât soundproof or smell proof. The back lobby, where the boiler was housed was untidy and the smell of oil from it was very unpleasant. It was very untidy and hard to get outside from it as the door to garden wouldnât open very wide. The outside furniture is falling to bits and the garden needs a good tidy up. Upstairs the beds were not very comfortable, the en-suite door didnât close fully. The bathroom radiator wasnât working when we arrived and we had to get the maintenance guy out to repair it. There was nothing mentioned about the closeness of Manchester airport - the property was right on the flight path hence we had planes passing right overhead from early morning until late at night - certainly didnât match the description of an isolated position. We certainly wouldnât describe it as a 4 star luxury property. Overall we weâre very disappointed with the property.

This was the second time I have stayed here, having stayed in Apartment 1 last year.
The noise of planes from Manchester Airport does not bother me, nor any of the other members of my party, but will do to some and this should be made clearer in the listing. Whilst the property had been well cleaned and was fully equipped, it is clear it is some time since the property has been updated/undergone an overhaul. I would think it unlikely on any modern definition of a four star rating that this would qualify with areas of the property (such as the utility room) extremely messy and the freezer shoved in a dark cupboard in this room where an oil fired boiler provides a 'nice' oily smell. The property location, both for Tatton Park itself and for the North West as a whole with its proximity to the M6, cannot be faulted. It is sadly showing signs of its age and is not perhaps the jewel it once was or could indeed be in the future.
