What our customers say about their holidays

First Impressions of the cottage where quite positive, it is an old stone Building which remains cool even on a warm day.
The heating to the property is controlled by a timer which in turn is controlled by the owner, hence at night on our stay in mid September it got fairly cold. There was also a fume smell emitting from the oil boiler in the en-suite double bedroom, especially if the door to the en-suite bathroom left closed. Hence due to there only being two of us we opted to sleep in another of the 3 bedrooms, the lack of heating control at night was a slight downside to our stay though. Privacy was another problem at the cottage as it is part of a multi unit letting set up, with a number of permanent residents also. This meant the need to the keep curtains drawn, or residents can see straight into the holiday let, access to property was via two Drives each very pot holed even for a 4x4 to use. There was also a distinct lack of where to go leaflets for things to see and do in the area, on leaving we left our leaflets there for new guests to use when they arrive. Seating in kitchen looked period but was very uncomfortable and all the chairs rickety, with very loose wooden Joints with some previous attempted screw repairs quite dangerous really. These need repairing properly to safe guard future occupants safety when using the focal point kitchen, as this is a premium property it really needs all the little details re- addressing especially the boiler when the rental season finally quietens down. The property could be brought right back up to scratch, over the course of a couple of days re-investment and time. Overall we enjoyed our time there but it could have been so much better.

Enjoyed a lovely week at Springfield. Very clean comfortable cottage, well equipped kitchen and fabulous garden. Garden very secure which is great for dog. Our dog enjoyed jumping from level to level more fun than using the steps! Fiona introduced herself not long after arrival, very friendly and welcoming and easily contacted if needs be during the stay. She had also left a nice welcome pack of the most yummy scones and even doggy biscuits. The weather was mostly kind meaning we got to enjoy a couple hours in the garden most evenings. Very pleasant place to be. Dalbeattie town woods behind cottage were lovely for long walks. Access to Collision Park at end of road (turn right and through hole in wall at end of the old school) was very handy for the evening dog walk. We visited kippford - can recommend the anchor pub for meals, southerness beach, drumlanrig Castle, Castle Douglas, Isle of Whithorn and Wigtown amongst others. Threave gardens was well worth a visit, lovely grounds to stroll around and lots of squirells. Springfield provides easy access to main roads/routes to explore the area and a great base to return to in the evening and relax. Also if you walk to end of road and over the bridge there is a field with highland cows Would love to stay again. Thanks for a great holiday.

We have stayed at Springfeild on a number of occasions. We love the location in a peaceful spot. The owners have made a few adjustments with decking in the garden. Which I really enjoyed, sitting out in the morning and evening with a cup of tea watching the birds. New furniture also a new addition to this very comfortable and well equipped property, nestled just on the outskirts of town. We were welcomed with scones, butter & jam that was well received, milk in the fridge all on our arrival, which was very welcoming after our long journey to our holiday home. The owners Fiona & Ricky really looked after us, due to mobility issues Ricky takes the bins out for us and left us some lovely tomatoes. Fiona & Ricky also own a little Cafe in Dalbeattie, where we ate several times, the food is delicious and we tried various dishes ' The Eggy Bread with Maple Bacon was so good, Ham, Cheese & Pineapple Salad was my friends favourite. We had empty plates & no complaints with all the different dishes we tried. Also there is a wee shop in the next room and we bought lots of Vegan things for my son, Dinosaur Pasta for the grand kids, and I treat myself to some smoked salmon pate and coconut biscuits. We had a lovely time with weather to match. Thank You..

Dear whom it may concern, Iâm writing in connection with our recent stay at Silverwood Lodges, Errol.
( 12-15th October â23) Unfortunately , there were many issues with our stay. Firstly, on our first night in the lodge there was a wedding. We were made aware of this at check in but not prior to booking. The noise continued on until after 12AM and with having three children this kept them up and us along with the constant noise of the boiler/hot tub. This noise seemed to be worse in the twin room. On arrival the lodge was not clean. The cutlery, pans, oven and utensils were filthy. The floor wasnât clean and there were sweet and crisp packets/crumbs all over the sofa. The bathroom ceiling was covered in flies, and the tiles were covered in dirt. Aside from the kitchen equipment being filthy there wasnât anything simple like a chopping board/grater - so even making the simplest of meals were a challenge. The beds were very uncomfortable, and far too small. Due to this we have returned home with very little sleep. We have been away to countless lodges and havenât stayed anywhere so badly equipped or dirty, so itâs very disappointing. I have attached photographs for your attention. Iâd appreciate it if refund could please be issued. Many thanks,

Loved Springfield, great location for touring this part of Scotland. Our first time in Dalbeattie - very impressed by the town, Colliston Park and great museum too. The bungalow had everything we needed for our week - warm and cosy and more with the really nice 'welcome pack'. Fiona was very helpful when we did have to phone about the very complicated Waste/Recycling system collections. We managed to climb Criffel 569m & Knockendoch 440m, visited New Abbey too. Walked from the house to Rockcliffe & Kippford, and back using the very well marked Core Path 20. Walked up to Johnny Turners Grave on Bennan 398m. Enjoyed Scottish Country Dancing and Whist in Kirkcudbright, visited Broughton House & Gardens. On the wet day we went to Castle Douglas - great for shopping and sheltering. Drumcoltran Tower was a hidden gem too. Such a beautiful area to visit, and seemed very quiet with very little traffic. Thanks again to Ricky & Fiona
