Guests consistently praise the cottage's quiet, central location in Kirkcudbright, its comfort, and well-equipped nature. The property is described as a home from home, with a lovely garden and thoughtful touches from the hosts, including a welcome basket. While all reviews are positive, one mentions difficulty with the shower, but this is a minor point in an otherwise glowing set of testimonials.
Unfortunately we’ve been unable assess this category comprehensively enough based on the reviews we’ve received from guests about this property.
The location is highly praised for being central, quiet, and ideal for exploring the town on foot, as well as for being a good base for the wider region.
Guests find the cottage incredibly comfortable, with comfortable beds and a homely feel, contributing to a restful stay.
The property is described as well-equipped and practical, with a special mention of a well-appointed kitchen. One review notes difficulty with the shower, suggesting a slight deduction for facilities and maintenance.
The hosts are commended for their thoughtfulness, including a welcome basket. However, it should be noted that such gifts, while appreciated, are not guaranteed for every stay.
A delightfully situated small traditional town house once owned by the artist E A Hornel, one of "The Glasgow Boys" and situated in a quiet but central location in the Artists' Town of Kirkcudbright. The house is an ideal base from which to explore the area.
Within a short walking distance are the Harbour and Marina, MacLellan's Castle, Broughton House and Garden (National Trust for Scotland) and the historic Tolbooth with its gallery. There are several other art galleries and major exhibitions are regularly held in the town. The well-known Summer Festivities run throughout the summer and one is never short of things to do in and around the town. There are superb sandy beaches within easy reach, numerous golf courses, a swimming pool and wonderful walking and cycling country in this unspoilt area. Children are very welcome.
