  Although the house itself is beautiful, internally too, we were left very disappointed at the poor standard of cleanliness throughout.

  From arrival to leaving it seemed more and more went against our internal high expectations of this property. Furnishings such as the kitchen chairs and the cushions on the sofa are really looking tired. We appreciate this property is old and with it may come spiders and cobwebs but they were everywhere, where they shouldn't have been IF the place had been cleaned thoroughly between visits. I don't believe the floor appeared to have been cleaned properly for a long time, with evident darken dirt built up through the main walk ways, which stood out to the areas not waked on (games room pew area for example) along this the floor in the kitchen is dangerous. The grouting has come away from lin large sections and attempts have been made clearly to part others up but the exposed craters meant we kept loosing chair legs down them and losing our balance whilst sitting, being as deep. Three TV' s in bedrooms didn't work, stating please check arial! Not great. The cupboard surround to the right of the freezer fell off on our arrival. The back door lock is super tricky to actually lock and the door catches on the floor when opening leaving you very little space to slip in. The flag steps to the front and the back are covered with slippery moisture/dirt build up leaving us slipping too many times, they need jet washing! The shower to the main bathroom upstairs is very slow to drain, needs looking at! The floors we feel hadn't even been swept as there was visible hair and dirt on arrival. And we were disappointed given the high end price of the property that there was zero salt or pepper, no milk coffee or sugar condiments, just a large empty grinder in the cupboard. The cupboards were also very messy with no structure to them, particularly a cupboard housing plastic pates etc, wait was dirty too. Same with the cleaning product cupboards in the kitchen and utility. All needs a sort out and to be presented a lot better in our opinion. We would be grateful to hear back from the owner on the back of this feedback as we really weren't happy with the standard of the place during our stay given we'd trusted it to be a lot more high spec having read the write up and paid the very expensive price for our stay.

  Good afternoon, We made the best of our stay at the Jasmin Cottage however, we were unable to lock the door from the inside all weekend.

  There were two separate occasions on our first night, where we were unable to unlock the door from the inside. This resulted in asking Gill the house keeper to let us out. On the second occasion it just so happened a neighbour across the way came over with some WD40 to see if this would make a difference on the lock. But he to confirmed it was very stiff and said it looked more of a mechanism issue which would require the full lock being removed and replaced. All weekend we were terrified to lock the door incase there was a fire and we were unable to get out. So this resulted in putting the dining room chairs across the door all weekend at night. The cottage itself was clean and all the facilities in relation to heating, water, electricity and location were fine. But personally being unable to lock the door at night did make us not want stay or recommend this facility until its fully resolved. The fact there were two cottages either side of us which were empty all weekend, we could of been moved to enable our safety but the house keeper never offered or even considered reporting this fault to be fixed which gave me an overall concern for anyone else. My Granddaughter is pregnant so naturally this facility did give her worry around our belongings being safe and even if children stayed there in the future. It is only right I make sure this feedback is given to ensure changes are made and the maintenance is carried out accordingly. Kind regards Mary McPherson

  This was our 4th visit to Neddy house, and whilst I am not submitting a complaint, I feel compelled to submit some constructive criticism!

  Since our first visit the property has lost that wow factor. It is looking very "tired" and several areas could do with sprucing up, or at least a deep clean. Acknowledging that this is an old country dwelling, we felt that even considering this, there is an excess of cobwebs and dust in the general living areas and in the corners of steps. The flag floors were very dusty and dirty, previous occupants breakfast cereals lurk in the cracks, lots of crumbs and old party decorations were all around on the floor when we arrived. Simple things like the oven gloves which are covered in old food, require washing or rotating between guests. Place mats are frayed, and the cork plate mats are crumbling and stained. Also the website needs altering. For ourselves, one of the attractions is the log burner and the description states that a starter supply of logs are included, however when I rang the contact number, I was told that that was not until post October 1st bookings, to be fair a small bag of logs was delivered after my call, but had we known that they were not included, then we would have taken some with us. The whole property is in need of a deep clean and some tlc to revive the experience.

  The cottage on Tower Street, Richmond is centrally located in the market town of Richmond, with its associated shops and facilities.

  Potential users of the property need to be aware that the garage - in the words of the information contained in the information folder in the cottages - will take a "standard card". It is not clear what a standard car is? The garage itself has a relatively narrow entrance, and narrows further at its end. The garage was too small for our family car. The information on the website, or when booking through Sykes, makes no reference to the size of the garage. I would suggest that a more accurate description of the garage is that it would accommodate a "small car." The property itself is in fair, rather than good, condition. The appliances in the kitchen are basic. The oven does not have a fan option, the microwave is a minimum size, the fridge has no freezer compartment and the washing machine is approximately half the size of a standard machine. There are no cupboards to store food. There are no drying for facilities for wet clothes, or an iron and ironing board. There are no recycling boxes, or information about to recycle items. All matters that one can work round, but things that one might expect to be available, or information on the matter provided.

  A beautiful cottage in a beautiful picturesque village, served with an excellent pub- great food, beer & friendly service. Sadly they only serve food Thursday Friday Saturdays & Sunday lunch- but when they do - WOW! The cottage has a great modern kitchen diner, a cosy living room with modern log burner. Both double bedrooms are clean, spacious & served with an adequate shower room fed by a combi boiler. The garden is a nice sun soaked spot to sit in & is secure for any dogs, unless yours will jump a 3ft wall! This is a great base located just a few minutes walk to the pub & huge village green with a babbling stream to the side, the village easily accessed just a short drive from the A66. Richmond being a short 10 minute drive, Barnard castle around 20 minutes & Raby castle about the same. There are some nice walks for you to explore with or without a dog in the village & the nearby towns/villages. Definitely recommend this cottage & location.
