  We loved the property and the location and what weather !

  The house with its thick stone walls remained cool despite the high temperatures. A great house so clean and modern which was much appreciated. We would love to return on our next visit to the Lakes. In the spirit of us loving the property and certainly not complaining could we suggest the following which we feel will add to the comfort/ enjoyment of future guests:- Clothes airer or discreet washing line Larger kitchen bin A small creative (in the space) hanging rail in the en-suite bedroom Board for fruit prep ( the wooden ones are liable to staining) Some more small sharp knives, there was only one A cafetiere for fresh coffee ( we had to order one on Amazon Prime :) ) An external cover for the en-suite extractor as we had lots of flies ( in this room with all windows shut )in the first 24 hours and believe that they came through this open pipe which ought to have said cover on to prevent birds etc from using it as a home !   Felt very comfortable at Owl's Roost.

  The hot tub was the perfect temperature and a real hit for our girls. Although the weather didn't permit us to go our and about much, this was no problem as Owl's Roost is the perfect setting cor a cosy night in with extra heaters in the dining room and sitting room. The bathrooms were nicely decorated and spotlessly clean! Normally I take disinfectant wipes to wipe over the surfaces etc but really didn't have the need as this place was so clean. One thing which surprised me was that the Guest Book dated back to 1979! The owners are obviously dab-hands at what they do! I will highly recommend this place to my friends and family.

  We had a wonderful stay at Stockwell.

  The accommodation was excellent, very spacious with beautiful features such as the exposed wood beams and roll top bath and had lovely views across the countryside. The owners Heather and Stephen (and April the pony) were very friendly and welcoming and the welcome basket of treats was generous and very much appreciated. The location is very peaceful, but only about 35 minutes from Keswick, and closer still to Ullswater, there’s plenty to see and do in the area. There’s a couple of nice pubs serving good food only a five minutes drive away. Overall would highly recommend Stockwell as a place to stay when visiting Cumbria.

  Owls Roost was the perfect getaway for us with our two grown up daughters and their partners.

  A glorious location, quiet and secluded but within easy reach of Coombe Martin and the surrounding area. Spotlessly clean (and our standards are high!) and everything provided. Three generously sized double bedrooms each with their own en-suite. Attention to detail was faultless and the benefit of having the owner on site and taking obvious pride in accommodating their guests, made this the perfect stay for us. The outside balcony sitting area provided the idyllic setting for enjoying the glorious sunshine and breathtaking sunsets. The hot-tub also a welcome treat!

  The property is perfect and very well equipped for the 6 adults we had in our party with more than sufficient crockery, space etc.

  The terrace was lovely to sit on admiring the rolling countryside and distant sea views. The garden also with space to play badminton and have a barbeque was excellent. The hot tub too was kept spotlessly clean. Jane, our host, was available if needed and a considerable help when one of our party was taken ill on arrival. Good idea to phone Jane in advance for the more specific directions as the cottage name 'Owls Roost' was not signposted. An excellent stay and we would highly recommend for a quiet relaxing break but still within easy drive of beaches, towns etc
