  We rented this Penthouse with excitement!

  Sadly it is being very badly let down by the House Keeping Team!, and Sykes Cottages in conjunction with Yorkshire Coastal Cottages commitments to issues!! Our experience was not a good one, and to make it worse, after what they said was a reclean, and delayed holiday start by 3 hours, it was no better! To save the day, and week, we ended up cleaning it ourselves. A a real shame, as it is a stunning Penthouse, if it was clean!! After complaint, the owner and the service provider have neglected to take our case as real or meaningful! All we wanted was this expensive, fabulous penthouse to be clean on our entry, it wasn’t sadly to say the very least! I could further embarrass with an itemised list, but sadly, due to the response we have had so far, I doubt it will make any difference! Please be ware that if you book and have problems, they will do their best to discredit or believe you have a genuine grievance! It’s a real shame too, as the Penthouse has amazing views and is spacious and well thought out! It could however, benefit from some furniture in the Atrium, and maybe a few scatter rugs in the main living space, this would stop the echo, and give it the ambiance it deserves. After doing the clean ourselves, we did go on to have a good week, we were determined not to let this disappointment and lack following up, enquiry to know if we were satisfied and comfortable, nothing! No welcome treats, that we know is standard practise, etc spoil our long awaited vacation. Feel sad that we feel duty bound to post such a negative review!   The property is decorated lovely and in the centre of scarbrough.

  The cleaners had not cleaned properly, it was dusty eg. Dining table, some bedroom cabinets, top floor bath. Outside the rear of the property was disgusting. We could see a burnt couch, rubbish bins everywere on the fire escape entrance, the indian takeaway rear was disgusting too. The car park permit was not there. We had to pay parking until this was sorted out. There was no welcome basket at all, although the next day, one was left on the fire escape platform in the rain. The low celing beams caused a few bumps and bangs on our heads they are really low!!!! We didn't know this before booking. The property is not suitible for very young children with puschairs. You have to climb and carry the puschairs and children up three flights of stairs every time you enter and exit. The beds were really comftable,probably the best I have stayed in. The furniture was lovely too. The upstairs bedrooms- you entered through low beams and small triangle doors, you have to crouch to get to the bedrooms and bathrooms. Overall I found this a very disapointing stay and this was not what we expected. I have given it a fair rating, as the apartment had some lovely features.

  Family of 6 staying at the property, 4 adults and 2 children, the place was plenty big enough for us all, the main living/dining area was great, with lovely views from every direction.

  The kitchen is fully equipped with everything needed, we cooked from there most nights from our 7 night stay. The bedrooms, the master is massive, great space, the bed we both though was bowed like it has an impression from where previous people have slept, the bathroom, has a great bath, walk in shower and double sinks, the tap on the left hand sink was not fitted correctly and needs looking at, the other two bedrooms, beds were fine and bathrooms all good, the only thing we all commented on, was there is no where to hang your towels once used, a few robe hooks in each bathroom would be great, plus a small bin in each bathroom would be good too. Also one of the dressing tables had no chair. The balcony could do with a good clean down and the rail directly out of the apartment on the left when you walk out, needs to be refitted to the wall. Apart from a few things mentioned above, overall, the place is great, really good location and we would stay again if we ever go to Scarborough again, we all loved Scarborough plenty to do and see.

  Great addition to the properties available to rent in Scarborough.

  The flat was excellently appointed and in a great location given that the owners very wisely provide a parking permit for the nearby multi-story car park. Can be a little noisy on a Friday and Saturday night (humans) and every morning as the sun rises (seagulls), but that is part and parcel of the seaside. The key instructions should be updated to make it clear that the stairs referred to are at the back of the property and where exactly the back of the property is! Took a little searching in the dark. The owners should be made aware that there is a wet patch on the carpet outside the upstairs bathroom. This was there for the whole stay. It appeared to be from a leak in the roof as the ceiling paint was also flaking off. There was no rain whilst we stayed so maybe there is a pipe leaking somewhere.

  The house was lovely and spacious and ideally located for beaches etc.

  Unfortunately when we arrived there had been a mix up and the property hadn't been cleaned after the previous people. However, after speaking to the owners (who were very apologetic) the cleaners were there within 40 minutes, were very nice and managed to get it sorted even with us under their feet. Although this was an inconvenience I was very appreciative of the prompt response to resolve it, also the m&s voucher as way of an apology was very welcomed. We had 4 children with us, the house was big enough to accomodate us and we all commented on the lovely comfy beds. Would have been lovely to be able to park and leave our car in the car park directly at the back of the property, however the pass provided for a different car park was not too far away. Would definitely recommend to others.
