  We had a fabulous seven night family break at the Walkers Retreat. The property is easy to find with good parking opposite in an allocated bay or up the road if you need more/larger parking. There is a beautiful, friendly, but hilly, ParkRun on your doorstop in beautiful Sheringham National park (Natural Trust Site) - We highly recommend a walk even if you're not runners. The property was modern, well furnished, warm, impeccably clean and fresh. It's on a very quiet street, and we all slept well. We arrived in February. It was snowing outside on the first night, but you wouldn't know, as the house is incredibly warm and cozy. As a family of four, the three bathrooms were more than enough, with two warm powerful showers. The bedrooms were of good size and the beds were incredibly comfortable. It has a well equipped kitchen, dining table for four, two comfy sofas and a further lounger chair. Two TV's. It really is a home from home. A lovely garden too, which would be great for warmer evenings and there really is a resident robin! It is approximately a mile from the train station, beach and shops with easy access to beautiful coastal walks or convenient train trips to Norwich or other surrounding areas. We can recommend the walk from the house to Sheringham park to Weybourne beach (via the footbridge at the train station, and a nice lunch at Ali's cafe) and back to Sheringham along the coastal path. Amazing scenery, 9 miles overall. The other way to Cromer was also a scenic walk, stopping for lunch at the wonderful White Horse in East Runton, to refuel. Overall we had a fabulous break, and would recommend this property.

  Lack of attention to detail. Four poor quality bath towels ,only two poor quality hand towels & only one bath floor mat. No welcome pack ….unless you count the opened half used pint of milk in fridge ( presume cleaner didn’t open & clean) & half used toilet roll & odd t bags & condiment bits etc just slung in cupboard ( presume left by previous guests). Fridge freezer door held shut with bit of rolled up paper due to broken handle. Cob webs around property . One drinking glass , others stem glasses , really think crockery etc should be checked as part of cleaning & replace if missing items, adding odd different pattern & colour items gives an impression of “ that will do” not what I expect for the price paid. Underfloor heating we presume turned off , lovely & warm on arrival ( wet & cold) rest of week not needed as mild but Fri 12th rain & cold turned up thermostats no heating kicked in , not a prob as we always bring an electric fan heater in case of this . Property information folder found towards end of week in cupboard. It’s such a shame that this gorgeous property is let down by some basic attention to detail. The check out & check in times give plenty of time for the property to be prepared , such a shame that it is let down by attention to detail . I hope this feedback honestly given will enable little things to be tweaked to bring it up to a 5 star review

  We have been renting villas and cottages for over 25 years. WALKERS REST was the best in every way. We had a difficult Saturday, the day we were to move in to the property, and didn't arrive until late. As soon as we walked through the door we new we had chosen the right place. It was beautilful. The fixtures and fittings down stairs were perfect. Upstairs was, again, just what we wanted. The garden, the woods and the outside of the property, superb. Spotlessly clean. We are not able to walk far but the car park next to the railway station made it easy to drive into Sheringham. Tesco, opposite Railway Station, has its own car park. You MUST try the Steam Train. Thank you to every body involved with Walkers Rest. We had ageat time. Would we recommend it? ............A big fat yes..............

  Location amazing but only suitable for the able bodied. Only book in the summer months because the heating system is not up to the job and it’s freezing cold in cooler weather. If you like having a hot shower then don’t book the Wee Retreat because the water temperature is barely warm and it dribbles out of the shower head. We had to boil the kettle to wash the dishes. Towels stay wet all day because there is no heated towel rail and nowhere to dry them. The cooking dishes are limited. Only two cereal bowls, only two breakfast stools, only enough sofa space for three. It isn’t really big enough to accommodate four people with limited cooking facilities. The Wee Retreat could be amazing but needs maintenance and an efficient heating/hot water system. We left a day early!

  If you love the sight and sound of the sea, the Wee Retreat is the property for you. It's a bit Tardis-like in that from the outside you'd not realise how much could be packed into such a small footprint and the owners have produced a little gem of a place. But there are points that should be noted: it is a wee place, so don't expect huge bathrooms; eating in for 4 wouldn't be especially sociable as there is no dining table and there isn't comfortable seating for 4. There was just the 2 of us so none of this mattered and we just enjoyed the sea and Sheringham. Oh, and there is quite a long, steep slope and steps to be negotiated for access from the roadway above - those with dodgy kneecaps might wish to know this!.. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and will visit again.
