  Pro's: "It is not often one gets the opportunity to live in one of these properties even if it is only for a short period. It’s a wonderful experience to imagine what it would have been like 300 years ago. What makes it special is the village setting. All of f this made up for the niggles as noted below. The cottage is comfortable and was a great base to explore the area. It is important to know the cottage does not have any outside space. " Cons: "Just a few niggles if sorted would make it perfect. They may seem petty but in this property bracket these are not expected. Fridge freezer controls not working so food froze solid in the fridge, dishwasher did not clean properly, microwave temperature control did not seem to work, the iron was missing the control knob, the ironing board cover was paper thin marking the clothes and there were no sharp kitchen knives. There were quite a few cob webs around which is to be expected but not when they are thick and have been there for sometime and in the front windows. Something that is not easy to resolve is car parking which is not readily available by the cottage it has to be on the access road to the village or the dedicated free car park for the village at the top of the hill, about 5-10 mins walk."

  Firstly I would like to say thank you for the £100 compensation for the broken shower controls. The service we received regarding this was superb, the maintenance man was there with in minutes of us calling the office and he was very helpful. The apartment was beautiful, very clean and fully equipped. The view absolutely stunning. Unfortunately, I do have one complaint. We arrived at the apartment an hour early, we checked the key safe and as the key was there I presumed it would be ok to enter the apartment. We’d only been in there a few minutes when an Extremely aggressive woman came in screaming at my elderly parents that we had no right being in there until she had inspected the place. Ok, we made a mistake by entering early which I honestly did not think would be such an issue. I apologised over and over and said we would leave but there was absolutely no reasoning with this woman, she was so aggressive and rude. I worked in the travel industry on cruise ships and we were always told the guest should ALWAYS be treated with the utmost respect regardless if you thought they were in the wrong or not. This was most definitely not the case here. It’s such a shame we had to have this horrible experience as everything else was 5 star.

  "Having been visiting St Ives for 50+ years I have to say that this was the nicest accommodation I have experienced.

  I have stayed at a number of popular hotels in St Ives but this was by far a better experience. The whole process from start to finish was straight forward and uncomplicated, many times over the years I have experienced less than satisfactory accommodation and service, this was not the case with Genoa our expectations were exceeded from the minute we met your representative, you seem to have this process spot on. We like the coffee shop in St Ives ‘The Hub’ for snacks and coffee, also the fish bar next door did amazing fish and chips…we always make a trip to the Tinners Arms at Zennor for lunch and that didn’t disappoint. We also had dinner a couple of times at The Badger Inn in Lelant, which had excellent food and service. We would definitely look to book Genoa again for future trips to Carbis Bay…hopefully not in the too distant future!" H. & D. Broomhead

  "Everything about the holiday at Genoa was exceptional.

  The standard of the accommodation and cleanliness was excellent, the greet/handover was efficient and the holiday more than met our expectations. What we particularly liked was the extra’s i.e. the cream tea. the pint of milk etc. We visited the Seal & Otter Sanctuary and Lappa Valley Steam Railway with our two year old granddaughter and although a little expensive for adults under 5’s are free and she loved every minute at both these venues. The Wyevale Garden Centre is an excellent coffee stop and we ate out twice at the La Casita, the food and service here was excellent and they were very accommodating to our granddaughter.The Eden Project is well worth a visit although quite expensivem, we used our Tesco Clubcard vouchers and for four adults (one of which was a concession i.e. over 60) it only cost £28 – good tip for prospective visitors."
