  Pear Tree Cottage is a lovely remote property in the heart of the Norfolk countryside. There are many places of interest within a ten to fifteen mile drive including Cromer and Sheringham on the coast and the city of Norwich to the south. We were struck by the beauty of the garden where there are different places to sit in the sun and shade. It is large and beautifully kept. The living room is comfortable and all antique or wooden furniture throughout the house has protective glass on top. The kitchen and dining room are spacious with everything one might require. The hamper was probably the best we have had with luxury chocolates and an excellent range of fruit as well as other more obvious provisions. We did not find any breakfast cereal or muesli however. Our main concern, travelling with my elderly mother, was that the en suite is attached to the double bedroom and is down two stairs. This is not clear from the website and neither is the step in the middle of the landing. Furthermore, the main bathroom is downstairs which is only mentioned in the caption in small print under the pictures online not in the main description or in the catalogue. Neither bedroom has a wardrobe. The double has a hanging rail and the twin bedded room has hooks and hangers on the door. The upstairs is much more limited than the downstairs.

  What a charming location the holiday cottage/annex is, set within a gated court yard and parking right outside your door. A beautiful modern well appointed kitchen and a lovely welcome pack wine, Amaretto biscuits, coffee and milk, it was lovely to sit and have breakfast and evening meal if staying in. The living accommodation was up stairs with the bedroom just off it, Freeview TV and good WiFi, the bed was a game of two half’s, I loved the extra thick topper great to sink into but my other half would have preferred a harder bed, but wouldn’t stop him going back. The swimming pool albeit not heated was a welcome bonus as it was 31 degrees! and once in the water it was lovely, the pool was also nice to sit around reading or having a beer or two. Pool towels also left out by the thoughtful owners. A beautiful walled garden was a great area to sit and relax. The small village is very quiet and secluded but a visit to Norwich, The Broads and small villages including Holt all within half an hours drive with the coast 3 mile away or a 5 min drive. All in all loved it and the owners Carol and Steve very welcoming and on hand if anything needed and useful information on days out. Would definitely recommend and return another time maybe with the family to the adjacent cottage.

  Lovely fuss-free but personal welcome. The owner had left the key in the door, some essentials and treats were in the kitchen and soothing classical music was playing on the sound system. The owner popped out say hello and check we had everything we needed. We were actually in contact with regular text messages a couple of days before the stay and throughout - she was very friendly and responsive. The house is lovely. We are just a couple and we enjoyed spreading out but it would suit a family very well too. There is a lovely garden that we didn't manage to use but the house was very comfy - good quality mattresses on the beds (so important) and nice attractive antique furniture. The kitchen is very well equipped for a holiday cottage. If I were super-picky I might say that the knives were not the best, but we managed. The salad spinner was a nice touch - unusual to find one in holiday accommodation and really useful, particularly if you want to feast on fresh crab salad!

  A very enjoyable week at this delightful property. The accommodation was excellent and we really appreciated the food and wine awaiting us on our arrival The garden was attractive and spacious, but obviously the weather prevented our being able to appreciate it fully. It was October ! We were able to enjoy day trips to the Norfolk coast and several historic properties, as well as enjoying a lunch at "The Saracens Head". We even used the bicycles! Zieta was vey welcoming and helpful during our stay (one or two minor domestic problems!) We were slightly disappointed at the increase in cost of rent compared with initial charges in catalogue! The Lounge was also rather dimly lit for our daytime use. Altogether a very enjoyable holiday. Martin and Jackie Ballard

  We loved the little barn and found it such a pleasing place to stay in. We kept finding new clever things which had been done. It was very comfortable and very peaceful indeed and the information was all at hand. We are both very elderly and some of the modern equipment needs puzzling out. We know N.Norfolk well, loved the primrose banks and the newly ploughed fields. Sadly our families were very worried about us with the coronavirus and we decided to leave 2 days early to calm them down... I think back on Wheelwrights barn with sadness and wonder in these hard times! So sorry we did not manage to set the alarm when leaving - but I did tell you as soon as we got home.
