What our customers say about their holidays
Denise - Verified booking
Beautifully presented and tucked away off the main high street, everything you could need for a self catering holiday, the wine, biscuits and milk was a lovely treat, and the dog biscuits and cosy bed was definitely appreciated by our 4 legged companion.
The cottage is an excellent base to explore all thatâs on offer in Winchcombe and the surrounding areas from all the well sign posted walking and the heritage steam railway to Sudley castle. The lack of parking wasnât an issue the long stay car park at a £1.00 day is a 5 minute walk, and loading and unloading the car was achieved by on road parking where you have a hours stay. There is a local shop right opposite the entrance which was handy and a few public houses serving food. The courtyard garden however is not sole use, which was a shock when we returned back to find a party sat right in front of the French windows, it appears to be shared with the postmasterâs accommodation, it is not just access as advertised, so privacy was a issue, it was very hot and we had to keep the dog indoors and keep the French doors closed which wasnât ideal, there is two tables in separate places but only 4 chairs and said party took them all and a bench; so be aware especially if you have a dog this is a shared open space, with potentially up to 6 people in the accommodation linked to the cottage, there was a little noise from the pub beer garden a few doors down but not late at night and was only because we were blessed with beautiful weather and everyone was sat outside.

Great location.
Well equipped and warm. Good downstairs space. Nice welcome pack. Reasonable price. Generally clean and tidy but cobwebs in corners and dust on beams etc. One of the beds had lots on long black hairs on the sheet when we pulled back the duvet (so we were not sure if the bed covers had been changed on that bed). We washed it before use! It's an old property so it has creaky floors upstairs (that's ok). Some of the downstairs walls appear to have rising damp (blown plaster and flaky paint). The downstairs shower room was a bit mouldy on the upper walls and the shower head riser was broken (but usable). Water seeped through the wall above the sink when it rained heavily. The patio gate needs some attention, also the imposing bush next to it which restricts access. There was tea and coffee provided in caddies but the coffee was part solidified so it may have been there a while! Not a problem as we used our own. Overall it's a great location but the property needs some investment and TLC.

Winchcombe is an excellent base for this part of the Cotswolds.
A lovely town with plenty of options for eating and shopping. We did several walks from Winchcombe and they were great. Winchcombe really does welcome walkers! The cottage was perfect for the three of us. It helped that the weather was glorious so we could make use of the small patio garden. We were confused about when to put the bins out. Clearer instructions needed, maybe a sticker on the appropriate bins? A few more comfortable outdoor chairs wouldn't go amiss as it was nice to sit outside in the evening and in the conservatory. We had no issues with the upstairs shower. We ate out a lot - highly recommend the fish and chip shop. The kitchen was fine, maybe a couple of washing up sponges could be provided as we didn't use the dishwasher. We didn't have a car but made use of the local bus to get to Chipping Camden. We managed to get to Stow on the Wold and Bourton on the Water by bus too. We had a great time and would stay in Mouse Hole cottage again.

A very comfortable cottage in an excellent location for exploring the Cotswolds.
A slightly unusual reason for us visiting; I had qualified for the National Annual Brass Band Championships, which was on the Sunday at Cheltenham Racecourse and I decided to extend a weekend in Cheltenham to a week in the Cotswolds staying in this cottage. I am very glad we did so. My wife and I took our border collie and we had several happy days exploring an area neither of us had been to before. Winchcombe is a delightful little town and our dog Skye enjoyed several very pleasant walks, including some from the cottage itself. Access through an entrance beside a shop is different to anything we had experienced before. Once the gate was closed and we were behind the shop, we had total privacy as if we were entering a different world each evening. Having a garden with the cottage was important with a dog, and a dog's bed with dog's treats were very thoughtful extras and much appreciated. If the band qualifies again in future years, we will certainly do the same!
