What our customers say about their holidays
Bev - Verified booking
We are regular visitors to Fairbourne but this was our first stay.
We are so pleased that we chose Sealyons , the bungalow is just beautiful, such attention to detail a real holiday by the sea home . It is comfortable , warm and well equipped with everything you might use at home. We cooked meals , enjoyed eating at the lovely dining table with superb views and then relaxing in the living room in the evenings . We werenât expecting great weather staying in April however we managed to get out and about every day but the bungalow was perfect to come back to and just relax. It made a difference travelling with children to have really good wifi in the bungalow! The views are stunning, watching the sun rise over the surrounding mountains in the morning. We enjoyed watching the ponies, bunnies and ducks in the field behind the cottage and the little train going back and forth throughout the day. The beach, shops , chip shop are just a short walk. We found the locals incredibly friendly and welcoming. There is a little laundrette where you can easily dry any washing . The Welsh sunsets are something else to watch especially if you get lucky and time with the high tide . We used the train most days, easily travelling to Barmouth, Aberdovey, Tywyn and Pwllheli. The train service is cheap, reliable and very enjoyable you canât beat the views from the train. The hosts were very friendly and helpful with a lovely welcome hamper on arrival. We would definitely return to Sealyons , it was such a lovely week thank you.

This was a really lovely stay and we thoroughly enjoyed Sealyons as a base for getting heaps of fresh air amid a beautiful part of Wales.
The accommodation was so well furnished with everything provided we could possibly need. It was also cleaned to a very high standard and we even had a super welcome pack that deserves a big thank you. Surrounded by mountains and minutes from a vast beach that was almost private due to so few people. Awesome. Fairbourne is very level too which is great for walking steadily if itâs not oneâs strong point. We loved sitting on the decking in the evening listening to a cuckoo in the woods, seeing the wild rabbits who even visited and on one occasion chickens in the roadway outside, whatâs not too like? Great quality T.V. C.D, Radio all enhanced our weekâs stay. We will have lasting memories of the sun rising over the mountains and even the early mists and low cloud all giving the landscape unique character. Super stuff. On a constructive note we found the double bed perhaps needs a âtopperâ and it is quite low ( one of us has knee problems), the bathroom transom window cannot be closed in a locked position and the back gate latch needs attention. This is minor stuff though, and nothing will detract from how much we enjoyed our stay, which was very much indeed. Thank you to the owner, your lovely property has set the benchmark we feel, it is that nice, light, and airy. It flows beautifully, a pleasure to be staying there.

The location of the property is perfect for exploring the area, with a good choice of beaches, forest and coastal walks, castles, adventure parks and nature reserves within easy reach.
The property itself has a large garden with goats, chickens , turkeys, peacocks and geese to make friends with. Also in the garden there are loungers, a slide and swings, a football pitch and more. Ideal for kids and adults to relax. Inside the house there are light and airy spaces to spread out and relax, but there are also some dark and rather cramped areas such as the dining room. Space to walk around is also tight in the kitchen where there is an Aga that is constantly putting out heat which can be a bit overwhelming in summer. As the one who did most of the washing up during our stay (other than that which went in the dish washer), I could have done with a drainer beside the sinks in the kitchen. More shelf space would have been welcome in bathrooms, too. The owners were easy to contact and swift to respond to queries and snags. All-in-all, we found the Woodlands a charming place to stay. There was not a corner in the house that didn't have some objet d'art or interesting item of bric-a-brac to catch your eye. Much of this looks precious and fragile, so it may be vulnerable if young guests get over excited. I hope this helps to prepare potential guests for what they will find if they choose to stay at The Woodlands Lower Level. All I can say is that we liked it.

Bungalow is in a great location just 5 minutes walk from the train station and bus stop.
Parking for one car in the drive and a quiet location without noise at night. It is also a flat easy walk to the beach. It is spacious and has good facilities and also has a lovely view of surrounding mountains and the fields which had horses in them during our visit. There are a number of issues which I think should be addressed before the next holiday season. The double bed is ok but has an additional mattress on top of the original and the second mattress moves during the night needing adjustment most days. Unfortunately the heating is very sparse- none in the bathroom and a wall mounted device in the main bedroom which doesnât work. A tiny oil filled electric radiator was too small to heat the main bedroom. The paint has rusted on the bathroom rail which is therefore difficult to keep clean and the water pressure is very poor. Showers were challenging. There is mould around the shower end of the bath at multiple locations. We were unable to obtain hot water for hand washing or washing dishes in the bathroom or kitchen sink respectively and again the pressure is too low. Finally , there werenât any instructions on how to use appliances and we had to try several internet networks to guess which one matched the Wi-Fi code.

The bunglow was lovely and warm, modern and had everything home from home and more.
It was clean and comfortable. The are 2 shops, a chip shop, butchers and indian resturant close by about 7min walk. Also the train station is just past the shops for a convenient way to get to barmouth, although the walk is lovely through the track past the golf course and bridge takes around just over an hour. We would also recommend the miniture steam train which costs about £10 Adult and £1 child. Also blue lake is beautiful especially on a sunny day its a good walk and would need your walking boots on as it can be a little wet and muddy going through the tunnels, the views are stunning from up there. We also went to Bala lake which is again a lovely place to visit. I would highly recommend staying here if your wanting to be in the area is a quiet location great for kids as it has an enclosed garden, bored games high chair, cot, hairdryer pots pans alsorts of utensils for cooking including a slow cooker. We will be going back to Wales in the summer and would definatley book here again.
