What our customers say about their holidays

  • Hannah - Verified booking

Rosemount is a really fabulous property, very clean, everything provided and the most wonderful views!

The bed was extremely comfortable too and it is a special place to stay. The information provided in the house was very useful. It was great to be so close to Marazion, meaning an easy walk down to the shops, pubs, beach and of course St Michael's Mount. Coming back was a slightly different matter, with an uphill walk, the very steep drive and then the 37 uneven height steps to the front door! The price you pay for such amazing views and very definitely worth it! We arrived after a 6 hour drive and went straight down to the Kings Arms - although their kitchen was closed, they were happy to make us fish and chips which we ate outdoors at the end of April. Other outings to recommend were the Shipwrights Arms at Helford, Roskillys near St Keverne, Sennen Cove, Trengwainton, Tremenheere and Trebah Gardens, plus a meal at the Mexico Inn. Next time we'll try the Victoria Inn at Perranuthnoe.too. Additional notes which might help: The listing does now show that there are a number of steps to the front door and out to the garden at the back and I think this is a recent addition as I called up about this before staying. I had thought about bringing my parents but they would not have been able to manage the steps, or the walk to/from town with the steep drive. It might help to note on the booking that there are 37 steps to the front door (no handrail in places), four to go upstairs inside or 9 to go downstairs, two down from the back door and 19 up to the garden, some with very high risers. The garden is also not enclosed for pets which we only realised once we got there, but we made a slight barricade with the bin, so that he couldn't go round the side. A van was parked half way up the drive, at the 180 turn, and didn't move all the time we were there. We have quite a long car which meant a multi-point turn to only just make it past! The directions were very clear if coming from Marazion, but our satnav brought us from the other direction, meaning it was impossible to turn up the drive from that way, plus took us up another drive way first! This is not at all to detract from the property, but might help those who would struggle with that amount of steps. It really is a wonderful place to stay!

We have just stayed at 3, Sandy Lane for 7-nights and it has been simply wonderful. We are a family of 4 with two children aged 7 and 5 who loved their first ever UK holiday! The apartment is fairly spacious, modern, clean and finished to a high standard - Dualit kettle and toaster, Joseph Joseph utensils, John Lewis crockery are simple examples of where luxury and attention to detail have been observed. The decor is light, bright and feels like a ‘home from home’.The beautiful bi-fold doors open onto a large terrace area that stretches around the side of the apartment where two rattan sun beds can be found…and are perfectly located to catch those Cornish rays of sunshine in the event the sun makes an appearance - which fortunately it did for us!The beds are comfortable and beautifully made up - just be mindful they are double beds so if you have a super king sized bed at home it takes some adjusting to!The apartment itself is perfectly located to explore all Cornwall has to offer - we took trips out to the Minack Theatre, Lands End and Hayle beach just to name a few and none took too long to get to.Carbis Bay train station is about a 3-minute walk away and ideal to jump on to travel to the nearby town of St Ives - in fact, I’d suggest it is a must as the views are spectacular and parking in St Ives is hellish!Carbis Bay beach takes just 5-10 minutes to walk to - even with two kids and body boards in tow -though the walk back is a good 10-15 given it’s uphill!I honestly, can’t recommend 3, Sandy Lane enough as the perfect place to stay in the event you’re visiting north Cornwall. We’ll certainly be looking to return next year and hope the exceptional standards set have been maintained. Thanks you to the owners and Cornwall Hideaways for the perfect staycation.

Rosemount is a delightful place to stay.

It felt very warm and welcoming. It was spotlessly clean. It has spectacular views of St. Michael's Mount and is very convenient to explore the whole area of South Cornwall and the Lizard Peninsula. The only down points are the house is at the top of quite a steep hill if you are walking up from Marazion and the steps up to the house itself are quite steep too. To be fair, both of these points were made clear in the house description when we booked. Also, whoever wrote the instructions to get to the house needs to check their Maths! It said when facing "Rose Hill Cottage" do "a 180"(?) to turn up to Rosemount.....a "180" means you turn right around and go back the way you came! Did it not mean a "90 degree" right hand turn up to "Rosemount"? I hope me pointing this out helps future visitors. Best wishes, Ray and Alison Williams.

    The good points.

Property was clean and well equipped, the owners family was helpful. The bad points The sofas were very soft, and were difficult to get up from, the beds were metal frame & sprung and were OK but not great. However the worst thing is that the advert was wrong on a number of points. A) Fishing has not been available at nearby Rosecraddoc Manor for approx. 18 Months!!! This was one of my search criteria. B) The WiFi was unusable I had to stand outside another bungalow approx 75 yards away to connect, by the time I got back to Ballasalla it kept dropping out every couple of seconds. Another of my search criteria. C) The pub which was within 0.2 miles was not open and had not been since last year, this was disappointing as we would have used this.
