What our customers say about their holidays
Mr James Webster - Verified booking
Fantastic holiday home with great views along Chesil beach and out to sea.
Lovingly renovated by owners, with well equipped kitchen and excellent family bathroom. We had a great week here in February half term, enjoying cosy nights in with the log burner on. The property is in a peaceful location, with good local amenities within easy walking distance including the fantastic Cove House Inn and Osprey Leisure Centre. Although parking outside of the property is not guaranteed there is plenty to be found within a short walking distance. There is lots to do on Portland itself. We particularly enjoyed the great view from the top of the hill by the Olympic Rings and climbing up Portland Bill lighthouse. Further afield we visited the Tank Museum at Bovington, Maiden Castle near Dorchester and hunted for fossils on Charmouth beach. We actually booked on to a guided fossil walk organised by the Charmouth Discovery centre which we can recommend. Langham Cottage would be a very good base for any one interested in water sports given it's proximity to Weymouth and Portland Sailing Academy where there are facilities for sailing, power boating, kayaking, stand-up-paddle boarding and windsurfing. Stayed February 2017

After being initially a bit disappointed on arrival at the flat, mainly due to the location (the view from the window is a barbers and a Chinese takeaway), we realised that it actually isn't in a bad position if you don't mind walking up a steep hill. We tended to take out everything that we might need for the day and evening so we didn't have to go back too often. We aren't used to traffic noise though, so had to keep the windows closed at night which was a bit uncomfortable. The flat was well equipped with a comfortable bed and large shower. Parking was quite a problem. After managing to get a spot opposite the flat, we didn't move the car for four days. The good thing about Swanage (which we really loved) is that there are so many beautiful walks with stunning views, nice restaurants and a regular local bus service, so that once we were there, a car really wasn't needed. We missed having an outdoor area more than we thought we would, but the excellent pub, just two minutes walk away, has a garden.

Lovely house that worked well for us whilst visiting Portland.
. Nice and local to the beach, shop and pub which were all within walking distance. Parking as mentioned before hand was not easy this was not a problem for us although we had a truck which we got down to unload and load up by the house we would never get park out side even when there was spaces available , as it was very busy the car parks recommended were always full so ended up having to park down but the big roundabout which for us was ok as donât mind walking and had a trolley but for anyone looking for close parking would not suit. The view out the bedroom window is beautiful and lovely to wake up to. For our boys the joy of watching the military aircraft flying round and landing near which could be seen from the bedroom windows by was a high light of their holiday.

We had a lovely week at St.
Johns View on Portland. The house is very comfortable, with all facilities, a real home for home. The location is right next to the church and while bells do ring on the hour it didnt really affect us. The road up to the house is quite narrow and with parked cars you sometimes have to mount the pavement to avoid, but it was never an issue, just added to the character of the place. With 3 local pubs close by, a Co-Op convenience and a fish and chip at the end of the road, you really dont need to drive every day while staying there. The bus service is excellent, with buses every 15 minutes or so into Weymouth or towards Portland Bill. I had a great day walking circumventing the whole Island on the coastal path and thoroughly recommend doing that - with proper hiking shoes!

We loved our stay at St Johns View.
This is the best cottage we have rented through Sykes so far. The location is great with everything we needed nearby, although the road to the cottage is quite narrow I found it to be no problem as it's one way so you never meet oncoming traffic and parking was also easy on the property's own drive. The cottage was very clean, comfortable and quite a lot bigger than expected, with all rooms being a generous size, well maintained and equipped with everything we could have wanted. Although we didn't use it much because we were out exploring all day, the garden was lovely too. We had a great week, in fact I must admit that I didn't want to leave. If we return to the area I will be hoping to book again. Thanks for a lovely stay.
