What our customers say about their holidays
Tracey - Verified booking
This is our third consecutive year coming to this property and we love it so much.
We come because the location is ideal, the views are wonderful and we can bring our pets. The cottage is perfect for us. This trip we had just a few little issues that I'd like to bring to your attention. In the handbook it says to not park blocking a neighbouring property's view. We have always adhered to this and never had an issue with other residents until this year. The people staying upstairs had people come to stay over and parked in front of our bedroom window. It was a little embarassing because my boyfriend was just getting out of bed as they stood directly ourside getting something from their boot. We spoke to them and they apologised and they were respectful in future. However a black Audi reg no MV66 NFF started to park outside our windows. It was there for a few days. When we enquired who's it was, we were told by our neighbour that they'd seen them park up and then walk round the corner to a property in the courtyard. After a few days of having to keep our curtains closed for privacy, I put a note on their car asking them to please park respectfully and note the 'house rules' and it didn't happen again. Maybe you could consider designated parking spots to stop confrontation or maybe put a note about this in your email confirmations instead of the handbook which people may not read. Another issue we had was internet access and wifi. We expect the signal to not be as good as at home but this was by far the worst year for wifi connection we've experienced with you. We are certainly not gadget addicts or internet junkies but we are walkers and adventurers and although we do a lot of planning and research before our holiday, we need to keep on top of weather reports while we are there and research alternative things to do if the need arises. We could rarely access internet even when we registered our details to be able to use the wifi. One final point which is very minor is that one of the glasses in the cupboard was dirty when we arrived and there were a few cobwebs on the ceiling in the bedroom. I normally wouldn't even notice the cobwebs but I've recently taken cleaning work myself after my business suffered over lockdown so I'm now prone to notincing that. After all of this we will still book for next year because we love it there so much.

We spent a lovely week here.
Great to be so central to Ambleside but with fell views and a spacious living room. Clean. Beds comfortable. First impressions werenât great especially with a four year old. Cracked glass in the casement windows including at small child height (patched on Monday when I could first get through to Lakelovers); open views of the bathroom from the road; tight parking; loose glass tops on the bedside tables (main room); lots of stairs; slightly too large a gap for my liking in the bannister railings at the top corner (which is probably only noticeable when small child has climbed next to it as itâs behind another hand rail), small steps into/out of most of the rooms, floors generally very uneven, a bit of a musty smell in the internal corridor (think due to the cupboard at the end) and a bit of dark dank feeling in the entrance and stairs. Overall, it felt a bit unsafe with a little one but we only had a couple of tumbles on the steps into the rooms, and once weâd got used to it, it was fine. But I wouldnât recommend for toddlers who are less stable or safe on stairs. I would also suggest changing the beds in the twin room at some point - I ended up with some lovely bruises from the corner (which juts out) when walking through the gap to the window. But overall, we enjoyed it, especially exploring the games in the cupboard, were sad to leave and would happily return.

On arrival about 5.
15pm central heating came on but went off at 8 pm. By 9.30 flat became very cool especially when you went out of the lounge into the hallway. Bedtime 11.30 upstair bedrooms and shower room were extremely cold. Heating still hadnât come on in the morning not pleasant especially when you are in your early 80s. Parking space was only just big enough. We had to take all the luggage/ dogs out of the drivers side because of the tall trees on the passenger side full length of the parking space.. Fortunately enough our Citron Bellingo has sliding doors. Parking space being right on the edge of the pavement on a busy road. Access from the boot wasnât an option as it meant we would be blocking pedestrians walking past and having to walk out on to the road.We decide to leave a day earlier because of no heating. The flat is definitely well over priced for a 2 day stay. Only the kitchen and bathroom were modern rest of the house is in need of a makeover especially the lounge / upstairs shower room. The glass shelf over the sink not practical when you are washing or cleaning teeth. So easy to hit your head and little space to put anything on it

We always have a fantastic time in The Lakes and this is the 4th year in a row that weâve chosen to stay in this property.
Itâs perfectly located for us. The only criticism we have is the cleanliness. We commented about it last year as well but never had a reply. This year, it was worse. There were cobwebs everywhere. Especially noticible between the standard lamp and the wall. It clearly hadnât been cleaned for weeks. There was also a thick layer of dust on all the skirting boards in every room. Also worth mentioning is the black mold on the wall behind the bed. We wouldnât have noticed, but my boyfriend lost one of his earbuds so we pulled the bed out to look for it. Also there needs to be a mirror on the dressing table in the bedroom. There used to be one there but if someone had broken it, it should be replaced. Apart from that, we had a lovely stay. Itâs just a bit annoying that no one replied to us last year and we had the same issues again this year. Since check out time is 9.30am and we couldnât check in until 4.30pm, there is plenty of time to clean. Having said all this, weâll still return to loweswater when we come to the Lake District because the location and views are perfect.

Ambleside is an amazing place - Unfortunately, this is not a 4 star property which is what we paid for and had hoped to be staying in.
On arrival, we found the ground floor entrance lobby / boot room to be very musty and damp smelling - why is this area carpeted? The accommodation was in a very poor state of decoration throughout and was not as clean as we expected - hadnât been hoovered with white dog hair everywhere, toe nail cuttings on one of the single beds and on the floor which also suggests that the bed hadnât been changed, a very unhygienic broken toilet seat in the main bathroom which had been glued back together, cobwebs and dust everywhere. We finally managed to speak to someone in the Lakelovers office in Windermere and were grateful for her assistance - the place was dusted and hoovered throughout by a cleaning team on the Wednesday afternoon. We had cleaned and sanitised the rest ourselves. This accommodation does not represent Lakelovers in a positive manner - we would be very surprised if is the first negative feedback for this apartment and we would urge Lakelovers to review the standard / rating of this accommodation as a matter of urgency.
