What our customers say about their holidays
Graham - Verified booking
Our booked six night stay consisted of one night before we gave the keys back and found somewhere else to stay.
In 25 years of renting holiday cottages, this was by far the worst. Spartan, poorly equipped, no room whatsoever, no storage space and what we believed to be us having the run of a large garden (as the photos depicted) for our two spaniels, we had a 12 x 12ft patch of grass. The tv is at a 45 degree angle to the settee, so you had to crane your neck to watch it. No net curtains so no privacy. A kitchen without a cooker, draining board or washing machine, the latter essential for a cottage that's supposedly dog friendly. As for the front door..... We were told NOT to turn the car around using the property opposite's drive which necessitated reversing down the narrow lane to get out, no mention of this when we booked. Presumably the cottage owners and the neighbour don't get on? The directions to the place weren't even accurate. If this place WAS converted from a barn, I can only assume that the barn was more comfortable. When we departed on the Sunday morning, the owners weren't in, so I texted them to say we'd left the place and to let them know where we'd left the key. Several hours later they replied to say, "oh dear, thanks for letting us know, we hope you find something more suited to your needs". No apology, no " what could we have done to make your stay better?", essentially, " thanks for your £400, 'bye". I just can't believe the glowing reviews for this place, people must have very low expectations. We will NEVER book through you again, a complete and utter disappointment. Yours sincerely Graham & Caroline Brown

The cottage is in a stunning location which makes it.
However, it wasnât entirely clean, there were finger nails on the table underneath the cook books. There were also no settee cushions (only decorative ones) on the backs of the settees making for very uncomfortable seating. The mattress in the main bedroom was very uncomfortable. The hot tub was dirty (I have photographs) and so full of bubbles and chlorine (because it hadnât been cleaned) it stung our eyes. It also ruined my silver jewellery, which I have never had a problem with wearing in a hot tub before. Again down to the amount of chlorine. My jewellery is very sentimental to me as most of it was bought as gifts from friends and family, so this I am most gutted about. Unfortunately I will not be recommending this beautiful cottage based on the above.

The Smithy is a stunning property in beautiful surroundings.
Michael met us and showed us around and told us of the history of the buildings. The Smithy was cleaned to a very high standard and has everything that you could wish for as far as equipment. There is a games room that would put many a pub to shame and thereâs bikes and barbecues and a lovely field/garden to relax in. The wood burner was great and made for cozy evenings after a dayâs travelling around the stunning countryside and beautiful villages. Looe, Polperro, Fowey and Mevagissey are within easy reach and Bodmin Moor is on the doorstep. The Golitha Falls are a must-see and are within walking distance. Thank you Michael and family, you really thought of everything. Best regards, Bob and Carol

The cottage is absolutely perfect if you are looking for a quiet get away!
me and my partner spent the whole weekend in the cottage with out really feeling the need to leave, everything essential for a weekend stay is provided in the cottage all that we had to worry about arriving with food and water lol! The hosts do a great job of ensuring the bedding, towels, bathroom and kitchen utensils are spotless. The cottage was immaculate upon arrival and it is clear to see the cottage is well looked after all year round. There was one slight issue we encountered and that was the fact the hot tub wasn't heated and ready upon arrival................ However, this is very much a first world problem and would 100% not effect my decision to stay here again in the future!

This is the third time we have stayed at this lovely cottage.
The location is amazing and the cottage is really lovely. It was a treat to arrive to see it had been refreshed with a new carpet etc We only have a couple of niggles: the tv is tricky and this time we did ask for help which was forthcoming. But the device isnât great tbh and we had to sign in to our own Netflix account. It is also really tricky to get towels dry so we always take our own plus some beach towels ⦠some more hooks in the bathroom and another heated towel rail would be amazing as the damp sea air has sometimes resulted in a boring trip to the laundrette in Truro to wash and dry towels! That said, we love the cottage and will return next year: highly recommend it ;-)
