What our customers say about their holidays
Adam - Verified booking
I firstly have to say that for the £300 for the three of us that stayed was good value.
..secondly if I had turned up in and or around the peak season paying upwards £700++ I would be severely disappointed, In general terms the holding looks very tired and slightly dated/needs a paint and done neatly as in various areas it is plane and visible to see, missed paint and general looks of a rush job. The plastering looks strange and only half skimmed type look/when pulling the cord for the extractor fan in the bathroom it almost pulls the casing and or fan off the ceiling/again the painting lets this area down/when the wind is blowing reasonably hard you cannot sleep as it's too noisy. The kitchen my friends told me [they arrived on the Sunday and me on the Monday] they had to basically clean the kitchen and especially the cooker area and it. there was food bits in and around the area, the fridge is dated and a little rusty/the frying pan fell apart when my friend was using it, there was another so used that...cutlery old and needs replacing a long with general food prep tools [knives were blunt etc for something decent and maybe a good chopping board]. Not really enough choice in glassware etc but it was enough. I would in the future if funds permitted get a slightly bigger TV for the lounge as it is a little bit too small nut adequate... I could not fault the layout of the grounds and very neat and tidy and the view was amazing...there is no facility for being eco friendly and recycling etc with bins...might be a thought for the future. The worst thing for me personally is that it stated it came with wifi...My friends cell phone coverage with their provider was excellent, unfortunately for me I had zero signal. They didn't need the wifi but for me there was almost zero wifi then whole entire time, I initially put it down to the weather but there was times with no wind and no rain and still nothing, may I advise a simple fix would be to put a repeater in the holding itself then it boosts the signal from their farm house [I am presuming that is the originating router for the wifi it's self. i would generally ask for some of the money back but as I said in the beginning for this time of year £100 each for a week is OK value but the general up-keep/cleaning and updating would need to happen if I was to come back in high season. If I'd turned up in summer I would be demanding a refund and leaving as for that amount of money it would definitely not pay a high price for. We saw your cleaners turn up next door to clean after some guests had left...one was in the car on her phone and the man was inside and the amount of time spent in there, I'm sorry but it wouldn't be enough time to do a thorough clean...I work in the ambulance service in London now but 15 years ago I worked in the private yachting and hotel business as a purser and butler, so I do know what a basic cottage should look to new guests coming in and at the same time not expecting what I used to perform but the basic's were not met as per advert sorry. But I want to highlight for this time of year good value and the grounds to the property immaculate but for high season I think a better standard could be achieved for little effort

First glances, the property was lovely - just as it was portrayed.
However, things started to go wrong almost immediately. I tried both contact numbers given to me as I had an issue with not being able to use the 'smart' TVs - the first number was unavailable, and I left a voicemail on the second number (Malcolm or Matthew?), requesting a call back, which I never got. So, for the whole holiday, we were only able to use the TVs as normal, terrestrial sets. Not a major thing, but the fact that no-one could be bothered to ring us back got me quite angry - and that's when the other faults started to raise their head (remember, one returned call would have sorted all of these issues). Below is a list, in no particular order: We were unable to use the gas hob â the safety lock had been engaged, but the knob to release it was broken off (it looked like this had been gone for some time, and that various attempts had been made to glue something to do it) â so, oven cooking only. There was an unpleasant smell in the property; on the day we arrived, a plumber gained access to replace something in the upstairs toilet, as he said the smell had been reported previously â this obviously didnât fix it. Bird Poo â I know this is a major issue in the park, due to House Martins nesting in the eaves of the properties; however, I didnât expect to have to âjumpâ over the doorstep because it was covered in this stuff â there was nothing available to clean it with â I didnât pay the sort of money charged, just to have to clean poo away every day, anyway. Finally, there was the outside décor; this property did not look like it had been painted for a while, and there was a lot of peeling paint. Also, there were broken boards on the panel at the front â one ripped off and lying on the ground, and 2 or 3 others hanging off.

This was a perfect fit for us; for one of us with new chronic illness, the other with limited mobility and a young lively dog. It is 3 minutes from door to centre of woodland if you can clamber over some logs/stones, a minute more if you need to walk on flat. We found it so peaceful/ serene. Our dog was much more at ease with so little surrounding noise (except a military flight path which didn't bother us at all, somehow it was still just so quiet there). It's small which makes it very cosy with the log burner and rainwater shower plus roll top bath adding restorative cosiness. Fully equipped kitchen, there were even lots of useful things like oil and kitchen foil which made everything easier. If, like my illness, you have extra sensitivities, ask that the scent diffusers are removed in advance. You need caution with the spiral staircase in lounge area as you could bump head on it, so it could be issue for some disabilities, but we placed dog bed there to remind us not to cross the room that way.Very helpful responsive owners. We will certainly try to return. It was hard to find especially in dark. We gave feedback so hopefully instructions will improve. It's a very long off load track that not all cars/ people would enjoy/ manage well, but if you can, the remoteness is wonderful. As pictures illustrates, we were there in Autumn but the yard looks like it would be lovely for summer al fresco dining and was good for hot chocolate under the stars. Also look at our dog's smile on the last morning. He was refusing to leave the forest.

We had a really wonderful stay at this beautifully restored wagon.
It was definitely a romantic and memorable experience. So quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of life. A great place to unwind. The owners Nicki and Ben have thought of everything. It was quite windy one night and the wagon hardly moved it is tied down so well. We saw a family of deer including a stunning stag in the field. Also a white owl sitting on one of the posts. I loved laying on the bed with the windows open watching the birds in the hedge. We spent a night round the fire pit. The sky was littered with stars having no light pollution there. We slept so well here. They had left us a welcome bottle of wine from their own vine yard which was superb. The wagon is well situated with Ottery St Mary, Sidmouth, Branscombe, Beer and the Beer caves all not far. There is a wonderful ARK pottery just down the road. Iâm so glad we went there. Some wonderful pieces of pottery for sale at quite reasonable prices. I would definitely love to come back and stay here again. NOTE: I would just like to say if youâre not a fan of really tight long narrow roads. Avoid Fire Beacon Lane. We drove down it on our first day. After that we always went the Sidmouth Road way which is much better.

What can I say.
This was just a lovely stay. I was made to feel so welcome. I came here with my little puppy to havesome time away without my children. A much-needed break was just what was required. My puppy loved the surrounding gardens and the donkey. The Cow Cott was just perfect for my needs. Very peaceful and relaxing and listening to nature at its best. I received a handmade cake on arrival, plus chocolate biscuits, Cadburys mini chocolates, a bottle or red wine and even some treats for my puppy. I was totally blown away. There was also coffee, tea, salt and pepper, cooking oil, cleaning equipmentâs, tea towels, eye masks, you name it, it was there. The Wi-Fi was amazing. In the description it mentions its only for browsing, but I was able to watch Netflix, apple tv and you tube, TikTok with no issues from my mobile using the Wi-Fi. There is a lovely electric fire, but there is also heating as well. The bed was so comfortable. Everything was to a high spec. There is another fridge and freeze in the outbuilding if needed, but I didnât need to use it. I would definitely come back another time and would highly recommend.
