What our customers say about their holidays
Mr Bowen. - Verified booking
We absolutely loved our stay here. We took our two small dogs with us. Owners were lovely and welcoming. It’s a beautiful conversion on their farm but it’s positioned in a way that’s still really secluded enough despite being on their land/home. Owners were kind enough to let us walk our dogs on their land through the sheep field and leading to a lovely pond (dogs of course to be kept on lead for obvious reasons!). And there’s a lovely field right next to the actual accommodation (no sheep!) to walk the dogs around too. Location was fab - close enough drive to whatever you might need yet still felt like we were totally secluded under the stars surrounded by fields! There is a fire pit outside and owners were kind enough to supply us with some wood and lovely outdoor cushioned seats, and we just grabbed some fire starters from the local petrol station down the road. Just as an fyi for those bringing dogs - there is a small stoney area by the side to let your dogs out freely for the toilet and you use a moveable metal gate to seclude them in but if you have small dogs I’d recommend making sure you still supervise as my dogs could squeeze through the railings! So although the property states enclosed garden, I wouldn’t necessarily call it fully enclosed, it’s more a small makeshift stoney area with a metal baby gate type thing as opposed to grass for them, but not a massive deal, just something worth knowing for dog owners, as an enclosed garden was the number one thing I was looking for when looking around for places due to having reactive dogs who sometimes can be picky toileting on anything that’s not grass!! Property inside was absolutely gorgeous, well looked after, cosy and warm, access to TV/Netflix etc, oven was a little slow so anticipate longer cooking times if you are planning on cooking! Owners left us tea, coffee, sugar, croissants and a bottle of wine! We are super super keen to return here very soon, we absolutely loved it. Thank you so much!

What a gem!
We had a wonderful 5 days at Little Acres Cottage as a couple with three dogs. The location of the cottage is fantastic, you are very private, with plenty of distance to the very few neighbours, and yet many interesting destinations in the Cotswolds are within easy reach. It is very quiet, except at peak times in the morning and evening there are hardly any cars at all and in the cottage you can't hear them anyway. The property is huge and great for dogs. The fence is not entirely dog-proof, but we don't leave our four-legged friends outside without supervision anyway, so this wasn't a problem. We watched squirrels and buzzards on the property and saw deer in the neighbouring field from the upstairs window, it was very idyllic. The cottage itself is very comfortable and cosy and has everything you need. We were especially delighted about the great kitchen and the big bath tub and the nice living room with the big settee, fireplace and TV, perfect for chilling on a rainy day in November. There are (small) beds, bowls and treats for dogs, as well as a thick folder with activity suggestions and tips. The mudroom in the entrance area is also very practical and the stone floor on the ground floor is easy to keep clean with dogs. Unlike many other holiday homes, dogs are allowed on the upper floor, but as there is carpet, you should make sure that their paws are really clean beforehand. We carried our dogs upstairs and downstairs because there are loveley wooden stairs which were a bit too smooth for our old dogs, but that was no problem at all. We had a great time here and were even able to extend a day at the last minute as there was a small gap left after our booking. Thanks to the team at Syke Cottages and the owners for their flexibility. We can warmly recommend this cottage, especially for romantic couple holidays, dog owners or families, and would love to come back.

The cottage is simply too nice to bring a dog.
We chose the cottage predominantly because of the open fireplace & bought a car load of wood but having access to a log store when we ran out was a major bonus. The thermostat is in the lounge area which, when using the log burner, meant that the heating switched off; so upstairs was often cold, maybe reciting it to the kitchen would help. The lack of access to a washing machine & no TV in the master bedroom were the facilities we missed the most. Luckily the local pub was opened during our stay so we had chance to meet the very friendly locals who helped direct us to some good areas to walk when the weather wasn't any good. Would we like to go back - yes but probably without our little man & only assuming the local pub is open.

Donât hesitate to book this lovely annexe at Chadbury House.
The photos and description are accurate. The sofa is large and very comfortable. The stairs are steep (as described) but we are a fit 70 year old and an arthritic 65 year old and we managed well - the banister is secure and the staircase is well lit. There is a downstairs cloakroom equipped with a washing machine. The accommodation was in immaculate condition and the bed was extremely comfortable. We had a fabulous stay and must say that it exceeded our expectations. The hosts are a delight, very friendly without being intrusive. We didnât use the patio area but in good weather it would be a lovely place to sit and enjoy the garden. We hope to stay again when the weather is warmer.

The cottage was lovely and accurately described location wise, clean with most amenities.
However it was quite cosy for a small family of three and a medium sized dog. In the evenings when we wanted to relax and wind down baby free, it wasnât the most comfortable with a small two seat sofa and armchair. Great to have an enclosed garden and conservatory. Unfortunately didnât make use of the open fire, maybe next time! Overall we would recommend the cottage and great location. Easy to park on road - but as another review said, there was a smart car parked in front of the place the whole time! Not an issue though. Pub opposite worth a visit and the food there was great, really friendly service. Thanks for the stay!
