  My wife and I with our 2 kids (12,14) and our new 7month old mini sausage dog booked Shepherds Rest for 7 nights.

  Words cannot describe the perfection of the place Carol and Dave have created. set up high on the 35 acres of land they have are 3 amazing lodges stealing blistering views of the welsh countryside. Carol called the day before we came to discuss our arrival and what to expect. We chatted as friends immediately, finding common ground in both owning a mini sausage dog each. (they played together all week, it was so fun to see them running across the huge perfectly manicured lodge garden) . Meg the sheep dog visited regularly also and became part of daily routine!. Carol and Dave are magnificent hosts, tending to all your needs, info on places to go and things to do were plenty. So many "little things" Carol and Dave do all help to a wonderful stay. Its very clear once you get there you haven't booked a lodge for the week, you have booked an experience that they have worked tirelessly to create for their guests. The kids enjoyed going down the hill to the hens to collect fresh eggs in the morning. playing with meg, mini, mia, the dogs. The views at night sitting in the hot tub with a glass of wine, the fully kitted out kitchen, the walk in shower, the stand alone bath, I could go on and on. We will never forget this family holiday and I can not recommend it enough. we intend on returning as a larger group with more of my family to capture this amazing place once again.   An absolutely fantastic house!

  We all had a terrific time. The rooms are all an excellent size (one was smaller but perfect for the children in our party), with the superking beds being incredibly comfortable! When we got there the house was incredibly clean and we even had freshly cut flowers from the garden, cake and local butter waiting for us. The house is in a perfect spot for exploring the local area: Knighton to walk along the Offa Dyke or pick up supplies from the surprisingly large coop, Presteigne, Ludlow and red kite feeding centre. The small animal petting zoo was great for kids too. The garden was fully secure for our 2 dogs, and large seating area outside meant we could have many meals together in the garden. The view is amazing, not another house in sight! We used the sun loungers to watch the meteor shower on clear nights, and could even see the Milky Way. We even had access to a fully enclosed orchard too. The cows and their calves came right up to the fence, we even saw twin calves! The hosts were fantastic, we received a call before we arrived asking our arrangements for the beds (they are all zip and link so can all be turned into singles), there is no travel cot or high chair (but there is a booster seat that can strap on to the dining room chairs), but we just brought our own so this wasn’t a problem. We had 4 vehicles and there was more than enough space for all of our cars too. Every member of our party absolutely loved the house, thank you!

  Just WOW. I'd discovered Plas Robin many months ago and stored it in my mind for a special occasion.

  When my other half suggested going away for our boys birthday, I knew Plas Robin would be the perfect place. Our boy is our Shih Tzu Bailey, who turned 16 on the day we checked in. He's a very special boy, who recovered from doggy paralysis during the first lock down. We had really high expectations for this trip after looking at reviews and photos but I can honestly say it’s even more amazing in person than you could possibly imagine. The lodge is decorated to such a high standard and is so well equipped, we managed to cook full meals ever day and even bake at the weekend. Bailey spent most of the week sat by the bedroom patio door, looking out into the garden. Us humans switched from watching Netflix, to taking in the beautiful views from the hot tub. Just when I thought our staycation couldn't get anymore perfect, my other half asked me to marry him in front of the fire! Not only did Carol bring a card and a lovely gift to say congratulations to us both, I’ve since found out she also helped arrange for a family member to send us a bouquet of flowers! Plas Robin really has been the most magical break ever and will always hold a special place in our hearts. Thank you Carol & Dave for creating something so perfect, we can’t wait to return. xxxx

  We stayed in Shepard’s rest over my birthday in January with our dog Luna and we absolutely loved it.

  The property is in a great location with stunning views and an incredible view of the night sky from the hot tub. Carol and David were great hosts and popped up to visit after our arrival to check we had everything we needed and show us how to turn in the hot tub. We also had a lovely welcome hamper waiting for us when we arrived with fresh bread from a local bakery and eggs from their own chickens. The cabin itself is beautiful and quite spacious, with a lovely shower and bath and a really great kitchen. The fridge and freezer are of a good size (we were a bit worried as we brought our dogs food that needs to remain frozen) but it more than accommodated our needs and we were pleased to find out tesco would deliver (the tesco in Newtown is only a short drive anyway). The area was fenced off and what’s a gate that can be shut to contain any doggys and Luna had a great time running around and exploring as well as playing with lovely Meg the collie! The log fire was a great edition too! Would highly recommend to all!!

  After many years of using Skyes cottages, we were let by our original choice.

  We chose the Old Farmhouse as the accommodation seemed to be the best option available at the time. The farmhouse is in a lovely setting with some beautiful views. The house itself worked for us, especially with a downstairs and shower room, however the shower room floor was dirty. The garden is a good size with different seating areas although one of these which would have been a lovely place to sit of an evening we didn't use as it was quite messy. Some of the garden furniture is rickety, and all in need of TLC. Having been brought up on farmland I appreciate we were on farmland, the flies were such that they were in every room but in the kitchen they were excessive and we used a couple of aerosols of flat spray, having said the some of them seemed immune. Also on opening Windows for but if air the frames were filthy. All in all it didn't stop us having a good holiday the granddaughters certainly enjoyed it, but just a bit more attention to the outside furniture and seating areas would have made perfect.
