What our customers say about their holidays

21-28 November 2022 .
.an exceptiomally luxurious, peaceful retreat for even the most stressed guests! Booked for a family break (and my 71st birthday!) it was the perfect base to relax, explore and just spend quality time together after a very long and difficult period of national crisis - Covid - lockdowns, overwork, illness and loss. Three family members are emergency front-line workers in desperate need of a break and the opportunity to count our blessings and refocus on the importance of family time... The house was amazing! Spacious, tasteful - offering every comfort and so well-equipped! The hot tub was a very welcome source of relaxation for the younger members who were impervious to the freezing temperatures! They were content to enjoy its warmth to wind down whilst making plans for their future as (newish) parents to adorable baby son, Jaxon. Wishes and dreams forged whilst observing a star-filled sky and sipping mulled wine...bliss! The kitchen was a big hit (with Officer Ben, who rather fancies himself as a chef when not chasing baddies! He is a great cook and makes wonderful cakes...he was mightily impressed by the equipment and layout - especially the snug area, so handy when cooking and entertaining. As for the 'light show' - baby Jaxon was mesmerised by the coloured, flashing lights...Disco Central - their own mundane kitchen 'spots' will seem very dull indeed when they return! Opportunities to visit wonderful York, Bridlington, Driffield and Beverley...all packed into a relatively short time - a week was not long enough! York was the best, as expected. The Shambles, Minster, restaurants...the warmth of the local people, so welcoming and kind. The weather was a little patchy with a number of downpours - but sunshine broke through most days and lifted the whole experience. It must be Heaven in warmer months when the extensive grounds can be fully used and appreciated. We had a couple of lovely dinners at the "The Star Inn" just a couple of miles away in nearby North Dalton...very reasonable prices, wholesome and plentiful food - a log fire and a duck pond! Must be so nice in the summer... Thank you Carl...you made us so welcome, ensuring we were comfortable - and provided a wealth of advice and local info on where to go and how to get there! So all in all, a wonderful visit to a gorgeous house in a beautiful part of the country with something for everyone - restaurants, bars, shopping, history, warm and welcoming people...what's not to love. We thoroughly recommend it to anyone who appreciates and respects a lovely, top quality, well equipped home. We will certainly return when the weather is kinder - with no thermals required! We have recently returned from a two week stay at Postmanâs Cottage which is tastefully decorated and very well equipped (-there was even a box of toys for the dog!
) Ruth had also left some welcome treats which were much appreciated. The courtyard garden was lovely and also secure for the dog. Whilst you can park in the road outside the property, the street is very narrow which may be a bit tight for a larger car and sometimes it can get busy but there is a car park literally around the corner which costs £3.30 for 24 hours-we found that we used this on a couple of occasions. The car park also adjoins a playing field which was useful for exercising the dog in the mornings. The house is literally 5 mins walk from the station (no disturbance from trains) and a large Tesco stores which was very handy. Itâs a 10/15 min walk into the town centre/harbour. The Old Ship pub close by has a lovely beer garden which could easily go undiscovered and is dog friendly. Prior to travelling to Bridlington we had downloaded a Treasure Trail treasure hunt from the internet for Bridlington Old Town which was really good fun and we discovered places that we may otherwise have missed -like the Pack Horse pub. Would also recommend a trip to see the puffins at Bempton Cliffs and a trip to Filey which is a dog friendly beach but watch out for the seals! Would definitely recommend a stay at Postmanâs Cottage.

A Stunning 'Home-from-Home' in Beautiful Yorkshire Countryside!
We needed a house with 5 bedrooms and at least 2 en-suites, and found this gem just 5 miles from Driffield, the home of my oldest friend and her family. This is a truly outstanding house that has been so thoughtfully decorated and furnished, it feels just like a home. It is also the most well appointed house we have ever stayed in - we hosted a BBQ for our Driffield friends and there was enough cutlery, crockery, cooking utensils... even cake stands! The kitchen is better equipped than my own! The beds, sofas and even dining chairs are fabulously comfortable. There is enough space for everyone to be together in every room, but also enough different spaces for people to chill on their own or in smaller groups. The garden is stunning! So beautifully kept, lovely flowers and shrubs, and even a play area for our small visitors to play. Garden games and indoor games are provided, a hot tub for lazy afternoons and great social space for BBQs and gatherings. I can honestly say that I would buy this house tomorrow and not want to change a thing! I have never said that about a holiday let before, but it really is THAT special. The owners are SOOO helpful too, I would thoroughly recommend this gorgeous house.

Postmanâs cottage is fabulous, with a cosy feel but spacious and beautifully decorated with everything you need and more.
Thereâs obviously lots of thought and care gone into making it a holiday home to suit everyone. The seating in the conservatory is lovely and a nice spot for a morning cup of tea while watching the birds in the garden. The garden is a beautiful sun trap with seating in different areas to follow the sun throughout the day. The washing facilities and downstairs shower room is great if you have those in your party who are not as mobile to get up and down the stairs to get to the bathroom often. The beds are so comfy we all slept really well while there. It is in an excellent location, halfway between the harbour and the old town, an easy 10 minute stroll either way, with plenty of amenities such as shops, cafes and nice local pubs just around the corner. Ruth, the owner, was lovely to speak to, so thoughtful and helpful, letting us know when the cottage was ready as well as giving lots of helpful advice regarding access, parking and events and things to see in the area during our stay. Postmanâs Cottage will be our first choice when looking to stay in Bridlington again as it is wonderful and suits our needs perfectly.

Routhorpe House sits in a beautiful spot, close enough to the sea and yet quiet enough in the countryside.
We were 3 generations travelling for a 60th birthday celebration and chose the house due to the reviews, pictures and its proximity to things we love - Flamborough and Bridlington. The house served us well and had all the crockery and glasses you could need. The 2x bottles of prosecco were well received and the useful items of coffee, teabags, sugar and dish washer tablets. The lack of a communal toilet downstairs was a little inconvenient and the garden was not as neat as i had expected - but i know it was early in the season for gardening! (Please don't take this too personal Carl - your home is wonderful but i feel compelled to critique - since our aim was to have a garden party but rain decided otherwise!) The host was accessible to all queries and feedback. We recommend the Georgian Tea Rooms for Afternoon Tea in Bridlington Old Town and the Seabirds in Flamborough for Sunday Dinner. Both very reasonably priced and great quality food. Do we recommend - yes Will we be back - yes.
