What our customers say about their holidays

First impressions of Honeysuckle Lodge was that it looked lovely inside.
The kitchen was well equipped with good appliances, utensils, cleaning supplies etc. The fridge was a good size but could have been cleaner. There was lots of crockery but way too much crammed into a small cupboard so it would be very easy to break something. The lounge area was nice and bright and had a dining table and chairs and Freeview tv. There was a large sofa which was broken at the back which we noticed on the Sunday (didnât know how to report this) and we had to ensure we did not sit near that area for the duration of our stay which was a bit of a pain. Also, the smaller sofa is not for sitting on unless you are a child or very short adult because it is so low down so that also reduced seating room. Thankfully there was a comfy armchair. The ceiling fan in the lounge did not work which was frustrating as the lodge gets extremely hot inside during the hot weather. We had to rely on the pedestal fan that was located in the double bedroom and keep the curtains closed which isnât ideal on holiday. Cleanliness of the room ok but under furniture not checked as we kept finding objects (plastic balls and a babyâs dummy) as we retrieved our dogâs ball. We booked this particular lodge due to it having a hot tub so we were so disappointed that it was absolutely disgusting with lots of floaters and skin floating about. It looked like it had been very well used and cannot possibly have been cleaned before our stay. Someone did come out to clean it which we didnât know about. A gentleman just appeared on the Wednesday before 9:00am and cleaned it. He said we had to wait until 6pm to use it as it had to get to a certain temperature which meant we had our first go in it on Wednesday at 7pm. This meant we only had 2.5 days use of the hot tub. The bedrooms were well stocked with extra bed linen and had adequate storage for clothes. The beds were comfortable but the pillows were way too soft but obviously thatâs personal preference. Drawers not clean. The double bedroom had a tv that didnât not work, neither did the bedside lamp. It also had an en-suite bathroom. There is no polite way of saying that the bathroom smelt like nothing weâve ever experienced. It was absolutely putrid and despite keeping all windows open and spraying tonnes of air spray the smell did not go, it was so difficult to sleep as anytime you needed to use the toilet in the night you would open the bathroom door and the smell would hit you all over again and it would then linger all night. We avoided using the bathroom at all during the day and all used the shower located near the twin bedroom. This issue alone really spoilt our stay. We booked this stay for our sonâs 18th birthday but it definitely fell way below our expectations and we feel was not reflective of the price we paid. We expect at least half of our money back and for these issues to be rectified for future paying customers.

There is potential for a 5 star rating but a couple of niggles for us on our stay.
We messaged the mobile number on our arrival to ask about fuel for the fire and had a response on Tuesday ( good job it wasn't a major incident) I called and left a message for the owner on the Saturday, who did come back within a couple of hours and was extremely helpful. The main settee cushions slide when you sit on them so constantly need readjusted. During the first readjustment we found a partial packet of cigarettes down the side of the cushions. As non smokers we put them in the bin by the fire. We had 2 - 3 inches if snow on the Tuesday night and couldn't get our car into the site due to the steep slopes. There's grit and salt around the site but too far apart it was a hard slog trying to clear the hill from the supplies at the bottom of the hill, so unless you have a 4 x4 this might not be the place to visit in winter! Had to leave the car at the adventure centre car park. Tip here; if you have to leave your car there, email them as they are very friendly, helpful and will keep an eye out on their cctv! Heating is good, however as the stat is in the hall and not in the main lounge, this gets warm quickly shuts down heating for the rest of the lodge which can be uncomfortable: Since they don't want you to adjust this, I found that turning down the trv valve (<3) on the radiator in the hall and turning up those in the main lodge (4) gave a comfortable heat. A final gripe: there was no heating on the last morning (normally on 7 -10) and temperatures down to 14 degrees on the thermostat reading and for some reason the "boost" didn't help. Where I understand that property is vacated at 10:00 and doors will be opened as we take everything out, it would be better to have this on "say till 8:30" so we are a bit more comfortable with our breakfast, coffee in the morning and getting out of the shower. Overall it's a great lodge, lots of space and if we were to return for another break in the area, this would be on our list to return.

We are a family of 5 (children aged 8,11,14) and stayed at 2 Strathtay lodges in February half term.
This was one of the best places we have ever stayed. The lodge was spotlessly clean, well equipped, warm, and comfortable. Even down to little plug in night lights which came on automatically at night (perfect for our 8 year old). We cooked at the lodge rather than eating out, the kitchen was better equipped than our one at home. Everything had been thought of. We could have quite happily lived here forever. If internet is important to you, itâs worth noting this can be a bit sporadic. This wasnât an issue for us. The view from the lodge more than compensated! I took so many photos, itâs a shame you canât put them in a review! In terms of location, we found Aberfeldy well placed if you donât mind a drive. The main roads up to the north are easy to drive on, and we drove up to The Cairngorms and Aviemore, Dalwhinnie distillery (highly recommended!) The town itself has a small Co op and Asda petrol station - we had a run to Perth which was about 45 mins for a big supermarket shop. There is an excellent bike hire shop at the bottom of the road to the lodge, which my bike mad 14 year old was more than happy with, and MTB routes up from Aberfeldy are excellent. Biking is a great way to explore. There is also a place to book rafting, wrong time of year for us, but we would have definitely done this if we had visited later in the year. Walking routes are brilliant, we had a lovely afternoon walking round the Birks of Aberfeldy, and down by the river. It is worth seeking out local knowledge for locations. For an active family this is an absolute five star holiday. The lodge is perfect to come back to after a day of adventure. We would stay here again without hesitation. Highly recommended!

On first glance the property looked all that it promised in the brochure, BUT, as we started to settle in, the problems started to come to light.
There was no Wifi as promised, so the TV in the bedroom did not work. There was a Wasp problem, they were finding their way into the lodge. As the information stated, if there were any problems then go to the Paddock reception; when we did this, we were told that it was nothing to do with them as the lodge was privately owned. We phoned Sykes on Sunday morning and told them of the above concerns plus a lot more. we had to ring back on Tuesday evening when we had not heard anything. We did get a response on this second phone call to Sykes, who said that someone would be there on the Wednesday to sort out the problems which were: Wasps coming into the lodge No WIFI No working TV in the bedroom No toilet roll/holder No hairdryer No baking/oven trays The dinner service and cutlery were mismatched and not enough to warrant a dishwasher. The balcony door would not lock unless the key remained in the keyhole. There was no clothes airer or other drying facilities. No correct extra bed linen. The manuals for appliances were just thrown in a bottom draw in the kitchen (would have been better place in a folder) We feel that the response time was too long and that the most important things were not dealt with. we got a phone call from Sykes two day before the end of our holiday, asking if things got sorted. this was way, way too late., and no they were not sorted. Sykes told us that they look at the properties at the start on them going on their books, we. feel that Sykes should regularly monitor the properties that are on their books

The Lodge was not fully clean when we arrived.
The carpets had not been vacuumed at all. The sink in the kitchen was filthy and full of muck and tea stains. The lights in the lounge area were covered in cobwebs and spiders. There were cobwebs and mini spiders in the kitchen area which you kept walking into when you went into the kitchen. We had to buy a new frying pan as the one they supplied was not fit for use..... There were several bulbs in the light fittings in the lounge area that didn't work. Spares in the cupboard so don't know why they were not replaced. Black Mould on the shower head and on the ceiling in the en-suite bathroom and on the seal of the shower screen. The sheet skirt around the double bed had dog wee in several places so clearly had not been cleaned before our arrival. (Ended up washing this ourselves and the stains came out!) The Mattress in the master bedroom was clearly new as the box had been dumped outside but was a really uncomfortable mattress.... You could feel every spring gave us both bad backs! We ended up sleeping in the single beds but they were not much better. The Fan in the bedroom doesn't work. Good points..... The heating works a treat made the place lovely and warm! Washing machine and dishwasher added bonus! Lovely fluffy towels in the bathrooms! Hot tub was lovely and relaxing and kept its heat! (No Chlorine to top up after use, was there a week and it was needed). Location lovely and peaceful and very secure.
