Our recent week's stay at Foxglove, exceeded any expectations we might have had.
We were welcomed by Denise on arrival who explained everything. Denise was the most hospitable and friendly host we have ever had the fortune of meeting! The place was spotless, beautifully decorated and we even had a lovely hamper waiting for us too. Denise even took showed us her fabulous duck pond and all the chickens, cockerels and rabbits! What a lovely lady! We had the most fabulous relaxing week. The hot tub was 5* and we'd often watch the steam train trundle by in the valley below, then there were the visits from super friendly and funny Ozzy & Casper (the doggies) Gaz the cat and the 4 friendly white ducks on our doorstep a twice a day!! We cannot wait to revisit Foxglove. It truly was a very special place and a hidden gem. Great places to visit in Whitby too, thoroughly recommend the Park & Ride. Free parking and £2.60 per person return & 10 mins on the bus. We can honestly say, we arrived at Foxglove as guests, but left as friends. Special thanks to Christopher (Denise's son) for his kindness, always being on hand and checking the hot tub every day!

Amazing Peaceful Easter Weekend!
Thank you so much to Michelle and Geoff - I went alone to Buttercup Lodge to 'get off the world' for 4 nights. Honestly, I felt such a sense of peace and was so stress-free, from the first hour I arrived... its just a very quiet, beautiful place.. bunnies and baby bunnies running around every morning on the grass in front of the lodge - very seasonal for Easter! The hot tub was great for 2 afternoons but when the hurricane winds and rain moved in - the log burner inside was even better! All the logs and kindling I needed, and a Prosecco and Lindt truffles left for me to enjoy! Oh and the Easter bunny left me a creme egg too! Everything is EXACTLY as described - ladies, there is a hairdryer if you're wondering and more than enough towels! I will definitely return - its an hour from me but so far removed from city-centre living it could be a different country. I feel lucky to have found it, lodge 3 is being built and the train carriage conversion will be just fab! HUGE thank you to Michelle for being the perfect hostess... I loved it!

The cottage is beautiful and on the whole, well equipped.
We mentioned to Denise whilst we were staying that the addition of a towel rail in the bathroom and a small light in the dining area would make it perfect. We had to resort to hanging our towels on the clothes horse each day as there was nowhere to put them to dry after a shower. The track down to the cottage is definitely not for the faint hearted. I had no idea reading the reviews that is was so steep and would have really appreciated it being mentioned before we booked. Yes the views are stunning once you get down to the cottage but it would have been nice to know how steep and long the track was beforehand. For those wanting peace and quiet as well as stunning views this cottage is perfect.

The lodge was gorgeous and we thoroughly enjoyed ourself.
Our only point to raise is the flies in the room. When we arrived the window was open which let lots of flies in, and we got most of them out. However on the second night we had around 2/3 hours sleep because the flies came back in again. This was the only downfall however if this problem was sorted we would 100% come again. The hot tub was gorgeous, the views and the wildlife too. The games room was fun and we had a great time. Iâve already recommended the lodge to my friends and family.

! Perfect for a quick retreat getaway for any age group. Good Wi-Fi and plenty of plug sockets if you need. There is no tv which is understandable as itâs a retreat but we knew this and brung our own with the fire stick and it was spot on! Very welcoming too made sure we had everything that we needed. Will definitely be booking here again! Oh and itâs definitely worth trying the Berts Pizza place only 5 minutes away. Itâs a proper restaurant but we got takeaway and was so good!
