What our customers say about their holidays
Mrs Sayner - Verified booking
We were a party of 12 adults celebrating a birthday and the house was perfect, having 6 bedrooms all with their own en-suite facilities. The downstairs living space was excellent enabling us all to sit and relax and eat together. The hot tub was a ‘hit’ with everyone. We weren’t able to use the outdoor space as it was too cold as the sun was not on the back of the house in the evening . Unfortunately the outlook is currently spoiled a little as there is fencing in front of the lake at the rear of the house . There is an outdoor charcoal bbq which we used (after cleaning it first) though you do need to bring your own bbq utensils. The games room is great for all age groups. We didn’t make use of the resort itself as we were only there for a few days although we did use the shop for some basic food. We had a problem with the hot water which caused a few issues with guests having cold showers and unable to use the baths. A plumber did come but couldn’t mend the system so we had to rely on the electric immersion which took a couple of hours to heat up and because it was making some strange noises the plumber advised us to switch it off at night. This meant we had only warm showers in the morning. I appreciate that this is a problem the owner couldn’t have anticipated but unfortunately it did spoil our stay a little.

Oak Lodge is a lovely place to stay: secluded and peaceful but still close to some wonderful beaches (Maenporth is a MUST).
The accommodation was clean and tidy, happily fit our family of six. Beds were made and nicely presented with throws and cushions. Bedrooms are big enough for both younger children and teenagers. Outside the decking is a good size still leaving enough space for the kids to play on the lawn. The hot tub is a great feature: we all made use of it. Easy to use function buttons and temperature gauge. There is plenty of banister space around the decking to hang wetsuits/towels/costumes, there is a clothes horse in the lodge as well if needed. I would highly recommend Oak Lodge for a fab holiday. Anne was lovely and texted a couple of times to check everything was ok. She is very helpful and has great local knowledge. She also left a scrumptious cream tea for us on arrival! Such a nice surprise. There was also a tea/coffee/biscuit selection and some milk in the fridge. It is obvious that the accommodation (and guests) are well looked after. This was our second year here and we plan to return in a couple of years. Handy hint: supermarkets will deliver so save yourself the trouble and lounge in the hot tub till your shopping arrives!! The only other things that would be helpful are a lamp in the lounge for some subtle lighting and a couple of sun Loungers on the grass.

We had a fantastic stay at Meadow Lodge.
The lodge is really spacious and has everything tht is needed for a self catering holiday. It was cleaned to a good standard upon our arrival so we quickly unpacked and relaxed on the two large confortable sofas. The Roadford Lake site is beautiful, all lodges looked well maintained and the site in general was spotless. You do need a car to get about as it is in the middle of nowhere but that is why we booked it. It's only a 10 minute drive to Launceston which has both a Tesco and Lidl so everything you need to stock up. We made daily use of the Hot tub which our daughter loved. Other reviews have stated issues with the WiFi but we didn't encounter any such issues. We had a number of devices with us to use the WiFi and never had any connection issues. As a possible area of improvement I would suggest some anti bacterial spray or wipes to clean down the kitchen surfaces after preparing a meal. Also a squeegee to clean the showers screens after use would be useful but this is more of a habit from home. None of this distracted from a great holiday and we certainly plan on returning in the future. Many thanks.

PRO'S: Claret Lodge was beautiful and perfect for a small group.
It was very clean inside and the beds were comfortable. The hot tub was excellent and the combi boiler meant we always had hot water on demand. The TV had a good signal and internet signal was strong too. Overall the lodge itself lived up to expectation and we were happy with our stay. CONS: - there is a very noisy road at the back of the lodges which starts to get busy by 6am and as the bedrooms face this road as well as the hot tub, it wasnt as peaceful as we had hoped and we did not get to sleep in past 6am due to the traffic noise. - the sofa is very small and uncomfortable unfortunately. An L shaped sofa or recliners would have been better in this lodge to maximise comfort. - it would have been nice to have a larger fridge freezer. As this is self catering accommodation and with only 2 shelves and an icebox it meant we had to go to food shop everyday. There is a grey sideboard by the dining table which doesnt really serve a purpose and a 50/50 full size fridge freezer would fit there nicely.

The Shepherds Hut was fabulous!
It's position on the farm is great with private garden area and parking. Its been very nicely converted and was really comfortable and cosy. Having the log burner indoors was perfect but we also appreciated the electric kettle for a quick cuppa! The gas BBQ is great as was the toasty shower. We added breakfast and BBQ packs and the contents were delicious. Our labrador pup loved the Shetland ponies and the sheep right beside us - even when the ponies decided to moonlight laps around their field!! The hut is really well equipped and kitted out - the only suggestions we had was perhaps a hook on the inside of the door for coats and something heavy or a hook to hold the door open coz the boot rack stops the door going all the way back to the original hook. The outdoor light and solar lights around the path were perfect for evening - and the torch was appreciated too - but the dark skies were perfect for watching the stars. We explored the whole area and found lots of great walks, swims and places to eat!
