What our customers say about their holidays
Jenny - Verified booking
Whilst the property was well equipped it did look like it had been furnished with odds and sods.
The cleanliness was poor and the property was very tired with some furniture and various decorating issues. There were trailing wires in the lounge which could have caused problems. There were cables hanging down underneath the kitchen cupboards. These are really a safeguarding issue. Upon contacting Sykes the call handler made all the right noises regarding attending to same and promised to call back. When chasing the same handler said they had contacted the owner as Sykes were not responsible for maintenance of property. I disagreed as I had a contract with them not the owner and asked for their Manager to call me which never happen. Iâve did contact owner but didnât come to inspect the property and I provided photos and a video to highlight the state of the accommodation. When highlighting the state of the back space and rotten gate the owner said the outside space wasnât really for use but there is a washing machine and line plus an outside shed for the storage of bikes if needed. The gate could not be used so if s bike was being stored it would have had to go through the cottage.

The property was easy to find as it's right on the A697, about 4 miles east of Cornhill-on-Tweed.
With easy, convenient, and safe parking onsite, the property draws on spectacular vistas of sublime countryside living. A sturdy wooden gate opens up onto a secluded courtyard with individual, private lodgings, each with their own keybox. This was a great idea and made accessing the studio a breeze. Inside, we found lodgings that were neat and tidy and very clean. It was a pleasure to see this, and we noted the time and effort it took to achieve such thoroughness. The kitchenette was complete with an electric stove, microwave, and dishwasher, although the latter two were redundant. A gloriously spacious bathroom, complete with an individual shower, presented a real feast for the eyes. The living area and double bed were more than sufficient for our needs and were very comfortable. All in all, we had a pleasant stay in a picturesque location that will be fondly remembered. Thank you very much.

Fabulous Cottage with everything you would need and more!
The owners have thought of every little detail to make your stay the best it can be. Hot tub was fantastic, clean, beautiful and peaceful scenery surrounding for ultimate relaxation. Great walks on your doorstep for shorter easier routes and longer for the hikers out there, the owners have planned routes and maps in leaflets for you also. By far the best place we have stayed and have already recommended to others, if your lucky enough to get booked here your in for a treat! Weather won't be an issue as if you want to hibernate indoors there is more than enough books and games to keep you entertained. Bedrooms are spacious with the comfiest bed we have slept on both with en-suite bath and shower, there was a lovely bag in each cupboard with little extras in also but I will let you check them out, it's the extra little things that make it special sometimes and this place is packed with them!

Westholme was immaculate & equipped to a very high standard with all we could possible need for our stay.
The cottage was spacious yet warm & cosy with excellent heating & two large bathrooms with plenty of hot water. Westholme also has a variety of very interesting books, games & maps plus walks details & information on local attractions. The conservatory, garden & hot tub all with views are a super bonus. Mickleton is a small quiet village & the cottage has access to numerous walks either from the doorstep or a very short drive away. The market village of Middleton is close by with the town of Barnard Castle a short distance away. The owners Ian & Kathleen were nearby & could not have been more helpful. We very much enjoyed a chilly November week. Five stars from us!

I highly recommend this lovely cottage.
A delightful Christmassy welcome pack greeted us when we arrived. The fire was lit and made it warm and cosy. There are two great pubs in the village. The Blacksmiths Arms - very friendly serving good choice of ales and wines and pizzas. The Crown was serving delicious Street food- I recommend the Spanish Chicken cooked in a wood fired oven. The Rose and Crown in Romaldkirk serves great food. Well worth a visit to Middleton in Tees - great Sunday Lunch at Teesdale Hotel - would recommend booking. Lots of interesting shops. Steer clear of the Forresters - not a good experience. Thank you to the hosts for a fabulous pre Christmas break
