"Nice enough cottage, well located, comfortable bed but sofa too large for room and not comfy. Kitchen cramped, tripping over when chairs in use. Stairs very steep and struggle to use. Front door doesn't open fully. Toilet seat loose. Plenty equipment. Could do with a revamp . Getting parked near was very difficult."
Barbara – 7 Sep 2018
"Rear yard cobbles - covered in green moss type plant, table set near bins, empty plant pots and an overgrown tree blocks any sunlight. No way could you relax there. Entry to house grim, needs painting. All woodwork in house badly chipped and grubby, except bathroom. Living room furniture is far too large, leaving at most a 12 inch walkway around it. Worst room is the Kitchen. Huge fridge freezer takes up all space. Dining table and chairs siting is dangerous, being 6 inch’s from the cooker. There is no way that 4 people could be comfortable in this house. You cannot shower without wetting the floor - there’s no curtain. The bath is tiny with no grab rail or hand hold on one side. It’s really difficult to get of! Towels and bedding are well worn and faded. I accept that style is entirely subjective and therefore make no comment. The house was very clean."
Jason – 6 Jul 2018
"Great place and ideal for local visitors - wifi a bit hit and miss but that in the general area"
Helen – 22 Jun 2018
"The cottage occupies a great location in this tourist friendly town. The beds were uncomfortable and the linen and towels had seen better days. The oak tree in the garden needs shaping to allow the sunlight to enter it is also infested with ants which made sitting out uncomfortable."
Mandy – 27 Apr 2018
"Tiny. No WiFi. No parking. But once you’ve found somewhere for the car, bought a hotspot and are installed it’s pretty cosy and convenient."
Joanne – 6 Apr 2018
"Great location just a few minutes walk from the river and centre of Kendal. Round the corner from train station. Lovely little cottage but bit small for a family of 4. Bedrooms are good size but living room/kitchen is a squeeze for more than 2/3 people. Lots of kitchen equipment, utensils etc as well as a washing machine. Smaller fridge would be adequate. Very warm and hardly needed heating/fire on. Little patio area but not secure and my dog ended up next door a few times. Luckily the neighbours were fine. Parking is an issue when arriving/departing carrying cases/bags etc as nothing outside the cottage and had to park a street or 2 away."

"really good cannot fault it"
Nick – 12 Feb 2018
"Small cottage, good location, parking a slight inconvenience."
John – 29 Jan 2018
"For January the cottage was very cosy and warm with the heating set at just the right temperature which made for a pleasant and comfortable stay. The cottage was extremely clean and was fairly well equipped, even an undercover washing line which proved useful in the rain. The town, corner shop, museum etc were all in walking distance too. There was no noise from the road at all. The only noise was on the Saturday night from the pub across the road from the front bedroom and a goose over the wall from the back bedroom. The only criticism was that there was no WiFi but the pub had free WiFi that could be used."
DOUGLAS – 22 Jan 2018
"A nice terraced house opposite the pub, local shops, restaurants etc within 5 min walk. Lacking in character and charm inside the cottage, furniture which is too large, too modern and not as cosy as expected. The kitchen is well equipped again with furniture which is too large making it difficult to get to the oven, an enormous fridge freezer which is again too big for the room. The biggest thing missing is a shower, or even a hook for the shower handle over the bath . The bed was nice and comfy, and the house nice and warm even as it was very cold outside with lots of snow."
Rici – 30 Oct 2017
"Loved it! (Especially the fact that I could even find a cheese grater). It was cozy and friendly. It was quite cold in the whole house and the bath light is pretty confusing, the fire also didn't work but we got informed beforehand so that was alright. I would definitely go there again! I bet if I weren't a student I would even rank the value for money but higher :)"
Ian – 2 Oct 2017
"We went as a couple the cottage has all the amenities you could need. It is convenient for the centre of Kendal and near the lakes. The is a nice area for dog walking just up the road next to the river. Clean tidy little cottage ideal as a base to explore the area or a weekend away."
Steve – 29 Sep 2017
"There was a repulsive musty smell in the downstairs area.It actually spoilt are stay there. It wasnt up to standard in the cleanliness department. We were supposed to stay for four nights but left after three.Very Disappointed."

"S50485 is absolutely lovely, we had a wonderful stay there! Also, the owners were super friendly and helpful. Perfect!"
Maureen – 22 Sep 2017
"Cottage very small. Living room furniture too big for room but comfortableBathroom no shower only hand held shower head which sometimes if not careful made a mess on the floor. Shower curtain would have prevented this.Difficulty parking within vicinity of cottage"
Helen – 1 Sep 2017
"The bathroom facilities leave a lot to be desired. It needs at least a shower curtain so that water can be contained within the bath. The bath is only big enough for a small child. A towel rail would be a good idea.Outside there was no shared courtyard with a pond-it looks like next door have installed a fence and annexed the pond to themselves. What is left is in the shade of an oak tree and does not feel inviting to sit out in the evening. The downstairs rooms are never in sunlight and so feel rather cold and dark. The accommodation overall did not meet our expectations of a holiday rental property."
Ian – 25 Aug 2017
"Nice little cottage in a good location near to the town centre, with a pub just over the road. The furniture is oversized and the dining table in the kitchen touches the oven and so is not ideal. The shower in the bathroom does not have a shower curtain and so washing was not easy. Also to note that the cottage does not have the internet and I would personally pay a little more to have this facility"
Gillian – 17 Aug 2017
"We have a very enjoyable stay at S50485. I was concerned about parking due after reading some reviews, but did not have any problem finding a parking space in the street during the three days we stayed there. The cottage was small, but cosy and clean. It is close to Kendal's amenities; Kendal Castle, Kent river and an 18 hole putting green within walking distance, and a good base for longer days out."
Sheila – 7 Jul 2017
"Although the location was ideal, the cottage it self was not. We found the cottage very dark, the furniture and curtains in the lounge, were heavy and dark. The beds where clean, the bathroom was the best room in the cottage, but a shower rail and curtain would have helped stop every where getting soaked when washing, In my opinion, the cottage wants lightening up, curtains coming down, and blinds or voiles going on the one lounge window, simple furniture in the lounge would be more suited to a holiday cottage, and the ginnel access to the cottage door could have been made more attractive."
D – 2 Jun 2017
"The cottage was very clean and the equipment in the kitchen was new and had everything you needed but there was a musty smell throughout. It had good facilities and was good as a gateway to the Lake District. The cottage is heavily furnished which means you can't literally move in the lounge and have to push the coffee table against other furniture to be able to sit down. The bathroom did have a hand held shower and no shower curtain or screen which made it awkward as the men in the family are over 6' tall. Parking is an issue on nearby roads, free from 6pm-8am but limited to an hour after that. The caretaker was very accommodating when we mislaid our key."
Emily – 29 May 2017
"We booked this cottage last minute and had a lovely first family break away as a whole. The cottage itself is small which we knew but the downstairs smelt of damp. I found the fire also didn't work after following the instructions provided. The cottage itself was clean. My suggestions below I feel would benefit the downstairs of the cottage as feels very cluttered with the lack of space it has. 1 - an L shape sofa under the stairs would benefit more rather than the larger L shape sofa currently in place. 2 - I'd remove another piece of furniture such as the corner unit3- Purchase a smaller coffee table.4- fold the table down and stack chairs so can be used if required as kitchen also small.5-replace the back door or get it planed as have to force door to open fully6 - have the damp issue downstairs looked into. Upstairs1 - remove the creepy picture overlooking the bed in front bedroom.2 - strip ceiling wallpaper as half of it seems to be coming away3 - refresh woodwork paint as VERY wornOther Provide wifi if you rent this property out a lot. Thanks for your hospitality. Although I have negatives we did have a lovely holiday. I just feel the cottage has a lot more potential and feels slightly neglected."
Angela – 9 Mar 2017
"Parking was a problem, whilst the cottage was clean it was smaller than we thought. We found that the furniture was a little dated. New bedding would make a massive difference to the rooms as they seemed well worn. Also internet would have been helpful due to lack of mobile signals. This property could be made much better with a little money spent on it. We found space was very limited and some of the furniture could be removed ."
Confirmed guest – 17 Feb 2017
"The location and cleanliness of the cottage were perfect. The house has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The only reason I wouldn't stay again, is that for a family with travel cot the space upstairs was slightly tight, however if some of the furniture was removed and there was a little more space we would definitely stay again.Thank you to the owner, who was really helpful."
Sandra – 10 Feb 2017
"Lovely cottage, only one bad comment it should state go through the green door to get the key, parking is a bit of a issue we did manage to park over the road but that was the day after we arrived."
Thomas – 3 Jan 2017
"A very well located cottage, ideal for a short break in the Lake District."

"Lovely cottage in a good location the only problems were its a little cramped and parking is not good"
Guy
"Lovely cottage and very comfortable. Please update the welcome folder with how to switch fire on, location of boiler etc. Thank you."
Louise
"We really enjoyed our stay it was like a home from home and it had everything that we needed, very close to the shops and restaurant's in Kendal. The only thing is that the pub across the road doesn't do food anymore which was a shame as the owner did say in their manual that it did as we did go in and ask, apart from that we really enjoyed the cottage."
dawn
"the place is in a good location only one problem is parking overnight the only place was near the church and this was full sometimes"
Leigh
"Fantastic little cottage, very comfortable & homely! The place was spotless! It had everything we needed for our stay. Would definitely recommend."
Sandra
"The cottage was well equipped, but found the downstairs area very cramped. Mainly as we have a standard poodle & his basket/pen took up most of the available floor space in the kitchen. A little less furniture would help. Therefore found it quite frustrating.. Loved decor in bathroom."
Nicola
"Lovely little cottage with everything you could ask for. Only downside was noise from pub but it was hot we had the window wide open. You probably wouldn't really hear it otherwise."
Steven
"Perfectly located for a short trip to the Area. Parking was an issue which would deter us from a future or longer booking in this cottage. If staying longer we would also look for a cottage with a larger garden. Also, big minus....no shower, only a bath."
Alison
"Cosy little cottage in great location. Highly recommended."
Julie
"The cottage is well laid out and well equipped. Did not have a DVD player and had to go buy one as had taken DVD's to watch."

"Had a lovely stay here would definitely come back again 😚"
Shaun
"Toffee cottage was ideal for our break. A good location to access the Lakes. The property itself was ideal for 4. It was equipped brilliantly. Very much looking forward to staying again"
