You have a couple of friendly local pubs serving great home cooked meals, as well as a village convenience store, a little tearoom and a train station where the glorious Esk Valley line will take you from Middlesborough to Whitby, stopping at every village along the way. Corner Cottage is a historical cottage with huge wooden stable gates leading to the cobbled yard beside the cottage, where traditionally horses and carts would be able to enter.
Inside, the property has lots of character and charm, with a well-equipped country kitchen leading through into the open-plan living room with a dining area. The living area boasts a feature open fire, ideal for cosy nights in after a day of exploring. Upstairs you have two double bedrooms, there is also a third room which can be used for an additional guest, there is a sofa bed in there and bedding can be provided on request. Due to the seating arrangements in the dining area and living room, this property is more suited for four adults and a child.
The surrounding fields and heather moorland are home to an abundance of wildlife, including lapwing, curlew and red grouse. Ideal for walking, bird watching, active holidays with family, friends, or to celebrate a special occasion. Salmon and Trout fishing are available nearby. The moors, footpaths and cycle tracks are on your doorstep, or visit the Georgian market town of Stokesley where the partly cobbled streets are lined with inns, tea rooms and a mix of shops. Explore the Heritage Coast and sandy beaches of Yorkshire, with seaside towns such as Saltburn, Whitby and Scarborough within easy reach, and fishing villages including Staithes, Runswick Bay and Robin Hood’s Bay. Historic homes, abbeys and castles abound in this area with Newby Hall and Gardens, Castle Howard, the castle ruins in Helmsley and Guisborough Priory in the vicinity. For thrill seekers you are less than 40 minutes from Flamingo Land theme park and zoo. This is a beautiful destination all year round.
