What our customers say about their holidays

We had a great week in Warren Cottage.
Itâs a lovely property with immaculate gardens but I have to say that we found the seating very uncomfortable. The home grown produce, eggs , vegetables, and sausages was very welcome. Itâs a very quiet spot and apart from the occasional walkers we didnât see a soul all week. We would have liked to have seen the owners garden which according to other guests are beautiful but maybe we should have arranged this in advance. A washing line or whirly thing would have been useful even though there is a tumble dryer. An upgrade to a smart TV and maybe seat pads for the dining chairs as they are very hard. An excellent area for walking and very close to Dartmouth. I would recommend the park and ride which is 5 minutes away £5 as itâs not always easy to find a parking spot in the town. All in all a lovely place and would thoroughly recommend ( but not for someone with mobility problems like my husband, who wasnât with us, as there are several steps around the garden which has three gates all of which have steps to the front door and also third bedroom is on the second floor. )

Had a lovely stay with extended family. Buckland house was perfect for our needs and welll equipped with everything you’d need. We stayed early March but it would be even better in summer months. The large conservatory was too cold to use really, which is a fantastic space leading out into beautiful gardens and landscape with summerhouse and bbq and pond with running water/stream. The house was large, we all had space including the dogs. Kids loved the bar billiards & playing hide n seek in the dark and man-hunt in the beautiful grounds! The owner was pleasant, popping over to check on us and offer us some wood for the wood burner. The beach is a 5 mins drive away, perfect for dog walking with a pub & café at the end (but not much more). It’s really beautiful but sadly Not really great for wheelchairs or buggy if you want a long walk, as only part of it is pavement, our Niece was on crutches/wheelchair so they had to drive onto Salcombe as they couldn’t push her for the extended walk which was a shame.

The fact you are reading this review I guess you are considering staying at Buckland. The best advice I can give is to stop considering and do it - without any hesitation. Superbly located in rolling farm land within easy reach of all Devon's wonderful attractions, The House is architecturally breathtaking, furnished with style, flair and innovation. Tucked away in the lanes, quiet and peaceful, Buckland House is an imposing and appealing feature of the landscape. Inside the design and attention to detail is great. Traditional kitchen equipped with everything - and more - you might need. Beautiful slate floor leading to extensive conservatory and spacious lounges. Seven bedrooms, delightfully decorated and furnished, comfortable beds with crisp linens and modern en-suiite bathrooms. Furnished patio area, barbecue, games room. All areas impeccably clean and maintained. You may have guessed that our three generations loved our time at Buckland and are delighted to recommend it.

Only 3 mugs, not enough large glasses or serving dishes and only 2 egg cups.
Shame the bathroom didn't have a shower or hand held shower. Were expecting 'farm noises' but didn't get those - instead half a day's worth of over zealous grass mowing around the area (driver of mower had ear defenders). House at the end of the terrace being done up so some building type noise (not as bad as it could have been though!). Will think again about renting a property that is ' attached'. The best bits.... Wonderful surprise on arrival with flowers, asparagus and eggs and note from the owner -thank you. Beautiful spot and amazing walks particularly down to Dartmouth Castle. Wonderful views. Beautiful garden and delightful decor and rooms. High end cooking pots and asked a friend to bring mugs with her as they joined us later. Office staff very helpful when I booked and later asked for high chair, cot and bbq.

We really loved our 2-week summer stay at Warren Cottage.
It beautifully/ tastefully decorated throughout (quality furniture and kitchenware), with a really well equipped kitchen and lovely open plan layout downstairs. Great private outdoor space. Also unique and very worthwhile is the grounds/ garden tour they offer, either with Sally (host) or Dave (head gardener). The house and garden have been very thoughtfully incorporated into the 350 acre farm, with lots of wildflower meadows/ lawns, new woodlands, and beautiful walled garden for veg and cut flowers. Really inspirational. And the cottage sits beside a path/ bridleway which links into the SW coastal path. We will definitely be back. (There is something odd in the folder in the house about the wifi being complicated and low speed, but on the unlimited 'slow' speed network we were reliably getting 40-50mbps.)
