What our customers say about their holidays

Positives - the property is excellent value, spacious and mostly well equipped.
It was clean and tidy and better equipped than many other properties I have stayed in. The wifi worked well. The garden is private, well kept, and ideal for eating outside. The owner Mr Hughes, is very friendly and approachable. The previous occupants didnât leave when they should have and were uncontactable for several hours, but Mr Hughes went out of his way to keep me up to date with what was happening, and ensure that the property was still ready to move in that day. We finally got in just 5 hours later than planned, and Mr Hughes had left us extra goodies for the inconvenience. Yummy! Negatives with the listing description: Although it says âelevated positionâ It doesnât make it clear just how elevated! I didnât know til I got there that it is such a steep incline that I could neither walk into town, nor use my mobility scooter. It was just too steep. So we had to drive even if I just needed a loaf of bread. It also states that you can see the action at zip world, but even If I used my binoculars, I could only just see a tiny portion of the zip wires, and even then I couldnât be sure that was what I was looking at. The description says it is a 5 minute walk to Zip World. Not true. Even maps shows it as 15 minutes and that doesnât take the steep hill into consideration. We didnât go there anyway, but from these two comments I assumed I would be able to watch. Negatives with the property. The tv in the downstairs single bedroom didnât work, but we never got round to saying anything. Iâm sure if we had it would have been sorted straight away. The ensuite in the downstairs double was always damp - even when I got suspicious and thoroughly dried the floor before going to bed it was wet again the next day. There was a massive amount of drinking glasses in the kitchen, but not really enough plates, dishes and teaspoons. We had to keep washing up during the day, and there were no instructions for the main tv/dvd player. After several near falls and 1 fall down the step from the hall to the dining area, we ended up moving an armchair in front of the doorway to remind us to pause!. A handle on the wall, and a yellow strip on the floor may have been helpful there. These were all small property issues that didnât really affect our enjoyment of the stay though. I would stay there again.

Having recently stayed at Yr Hen Ysgol, we'd have no hesitation in recommending the accommodation to any others thinking of staying in the area.
We know the area very well, having had close family living in the area, in fact across the valley in Rhyd, as well as family connections to Portmeirion and nearby Plas Brondanw. The accommodation was exactly as advertised, very well appointed with plenty of kitchen equipment, crockery and glasses. The information provided beforehand and whilst at the property meant everything was easily found and used. It was a delight to leave upstairs rooflight (velux) windows open to listen to the birds. The peace and quiet was really noticeable and appreciated. Make sure you follow the lane up from the cottage through to the Porthmadog-Caernarfon road as well as to the lake at Llyn Cwmystradllyn. The lane is very quiet and gives superb views over Cardigan Bay and the Lleyn Peninsula. Just above the tree line only a 10 min walk from the property, we spotted an osprey nest which complements the two in the bottom of the valley visible from the Glaslyn Osprey visitors centre which is well worth a visit. We'll be keen to head back to this property as soon as we're able and is sure to become our preferred choice on our annual visits to the area. If you want peace and quiet in a very comfortable environment within reach of all the attractions in the area as well as being situated in stunning countryside, this is the place for you!

The cottage is on a narrow road with a lot of parked cars so the two off road parking spaces were very welcome.
There's a step behind the garden gate, careful you don't trip down it! There's also a step down into the lounge, but our two year old grandson soon mastered it. Both bathrooms are downstairs, one in the ensuite double bedroom, one opposite the kitchen, with a huge corner bath and a shower cubicle. Loads of space in the lounge diner and a pretty little garden outside. One double and one single bedroom are upstairs, the second single is downstairs to the side of the stairs and is the smallest room. Easy to cook a meal in the kitchen, with enough pans, utensils etc. There wasn't really enough spare crockery to warrant running the dishwasher. We had a couple of takeaways from the yellow chip shop in Bethesda, tried their pizza, fish and chips and kebabs, all were good. There's a large Londis and a Tesco Express which meant we didn't need to go far for supplies. We had a great holiday, there are lots of places to visit nearby, and Zip World is a 5 minute drive on the other side of the main road.

Perfect in every way!
I booked this cottage without paying much attention to where, in Wales, it was! My main priority was having an enclosed garden in a place we could relax in and take our two dogs. Coed y Glyn proved to be this.. and so much more. Set in beautiful countryside with a warm village feel, we enjoyed it all immensely and Llanuwchylin station was amazing - like stepping back in time. Definitely worth booking a trip up to Bala. The village also has a lovely pub, y Eagle, with fabulous food which also served as a village shop. The staff were lovely and helpful when we initially couldnât find anywhere to sit (booking strongly recommended) The cottage itself is warm, comfy and very well fitted out. The owners are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Not that we needed anything, but we felt we could just âaskâ at any time. Sadly our 4 day visit was over too quickly so we will just HAVE to return.

We were delighted with this cottage.
It was clean, bright and spacious, we were a family of five with three teenage boys, so having a room each was brilliant. The cottage was beautifully decorated with tasteful furnishings and the log fire perfect for those chilly evenings too. We would totally recommend it to anyone, we could not have wished for more. The location was perfect, just off the A5 which meant exploring what this fabulous part of the country has to offer was ideal. We climbed Snowdon, visited four of the Edward 1st castles, went to Bangor, Llandudno, the Snowdonia National Park and even Chester, it was so accessible. We were made very welcome by the owner and appreciated the wine and the scones after our long journey from the south of England. Thank you very much - we hope to be back in the near future.
