What our customers say about their holidays

Such a beautiful property, with panoramic sea views.
itâs a real shame we were looking out over a messy pool area. Cover not on properly & blowing about all week in the windy weather. Hose pipes, and cleaning equipment left out. Otherwise a fabulous stay, no control over the weather! But thankfully an extremely comfortable property, very clean & well equipped. It felt very welcoming and homely, with tasteful decoration throughout. On the downsideâ¦. The apartment was reached via a small country lane, which was a challenging route, dealing with oncoming cars. There are some passing places, but reversing, pulling over, and passing tested driving skills. There maybe another route, although once there, we did not venture out via roads again, until going home. The electrics lights in the apartment, at times had a mind of there own, flashing on and off, perhaps due to dimmers using the wrong type of energy efficient bulbs maybe? There is a delightful little cafe near the beach, but otherwise no pubs, restaurants, or shops nearby, so make sure you have the supplies needed. Around a 20 minute walk into Hope Cove ( mostly flat SW coastal path) which was perfect for lunch, but dinner would mean walking back in the dark at this time of year. (November) We seemed to be the only guests staying as very late in the season, so the owners of other apartments were taking the opportunity to improve their properties, with men workmen, kitchen fitters, and gardeners as some work being done to maintain the hedges etc. in the height of the season, anyone around the pool area would be able to see into this apartment, Iâm not sure how comfortable I would have been with that. On the whole we had a wonderful stay, a much needed break away.

We absolutely loved staying here!
It was wonderful to be so central to Dartmouth and yet feel quite private amongst the rooftops. And of course the views were amazing. Everything in the property was well thought out and the kitchen was equipped appropriately and everything worked well. It is bijou, but perfectly furnished. Though there are steps up to the property, we did not find them troublesome and enjoyed the fact that the property was tucked away. The parking permit was a godsend allowing us to park in the central car park. Parking in Dartmouth is difficult at best and the roads are quite tiny. In peak months you can park for two hours directly outside the property (at the bottom of the steps) which was helpful when dropping off luggage and on the morning of departure. It was a beautifully hot week and the bedrooms were cool with the windows open and upstairs too which created a lovely breeze. I did see another comment about the visibility through the small window in the front door which I initially didnât think much about, but can now agree that a small curtain there would be ideal. If, as we did, you sleep with the crew bedroom door open to allow the room to stay cool on a hot night, you are in fact potentially on view to those coming down the steps outside. We managed to rig up a towel to create privacy, but a small curtain would be an easy solution. This did not detract from our overall delight in staying here and would fully recommend the property and we definitely hope to return.

The flat was absolutely delightful.
An upside-down place with the most gorgeous views of Dartmouth, both out to the castle and the sea and up the river. The views at sunrise and sunset were particularly lovely - I was very lucky with the weather. (Had I not been, the flat would have still been cosy with a wood-burning stove.) The cooking facilities were excellent, the combined oven/microwave was very handy, although being just a short walk away from the town-centre I ate out most lunchtimes at the river-front restaurants or took a picnic down to Bayards quay. I also had a divine brunch one day at the aptly named; Al Fresco's. Handy shopping at Co-op and M&S was also very nearby. The steps up to Spyglass (which the ad for the property mentioned) were a little challenging for some-one like myself with mobility difficulties, but taken slowly were perfectly do-able. I particularly enjoyed the serene Captain's bed-room, all white wood paneling and soft pillows and the big open shower. My only, tiny, criticism was that a small curtain across the porthole window in the front door might be an idea as someone passing up the steps (a public footpath) could see in as one went from bathroom to bedroom. All in all a wonderful place for a spring getaway (a birthday present to myself)!

We have just stayed at 7 Oceanâs Edge three times now and would happily go again.
However, we did have initial problems as the duvets in the bedrooms are duck feathers, and one of us has an allergy to feathers. We rang Sykes and after some resistance we were sent, admittedly after their hours, a synthetic duvet. Unfortunately it was for a double bed, not a king size, so we had to ask Sykes again. We were given a flat refusal for a king size synthetic duvet and only after complaining were we sent a large flat sheet. This, combined with the smaller duvet and a throw cover enabled us to sleep relatively comfortably. During our stay we were a bit concerned with the cleanliness in one or two places. One bed cover had dirty marks on it and a toilet brush was badly soiled with excrement. We did our best to keep the apartment clean, but had been left virtually nothing in the way of cleaning fluids. It is also mentionable that the staircase up to the first floor had large amounts of sandy soil on it throughout our stay. We can forward photos if needed. This all sounds as though we did not enjoy our stay, which is not the case. The apartment is beautifully situated and well equipped. We just think that you should be aware of these things.

We had such a lovely holiday.
It was our first time back in Torquay since 2020 (when I was pregnant with my daughter). We returned this year with both our little girl & baby boy. The apartment was a lot bigger than we expected but it was so nice, spacious & clean. It was very local to the town & as we donât drive it was so easy to walk down through town to the Marina & get to the beach. There was also a regular bus service along the road if we needed it, which took you all the way to Paignton too. The beds were super comfy and the travel cot was comfy for our baby too. Weâve had problems before where they are rock solid and luckily this wasnât the case: The area is quite noisy with buses & cars (that cannot be helped). The people downstairs also decided to move in / move furniture at 10pm the first night we stayed which disrupted us. However we had no problems other than that. Our daughter is already asking when we are going back to our âholiday houseâ as she called it. We hope to return again! We also recommended the property to a few of our friends. :)
