What our customers say about their holidays
Pamela - Verified booking
The moorings is a superb holiday home in a beautiful setting in Lovely Lostwithiel.
We received a welcome text from Vivienne which was a lovely way to begin our holiday. The Moorings is welcoming and well laid out with everything, and more, that we needed. The attention to detail shows a host committed to her guests happiness. The welcome gift was a lovely surprise. There was a cream tea. Local jam a small cookery book and a bottle of Prosecco. The little duck will be a treasured memory of our stay at Moorings. Thank you so much, It would be remiss of me not to mention the cookery books. There is a collection of cookery books on the shelves in th kitchen. I love cooking and so enjoyed browsing those books. We were so comfortable at Moorings and loved sitting on the patio overlooking the river with a bottle of wine. Moorings is well situated for exploring and has restaurants in walking distance. We enjoyed an excellent curry at Sunny Spice and dinner at The Restormel Kitchen on our last evening. An evening there is a must. If you wish to leave the car then the train station is very close. We loved the trains and they were fun to watch when in the kitchen. Just in case someone thinks thats too close for trains itâs not a problem. No noise hassle Moorings is triple glazed but even with the window open itâs not a problem. We actually miss them. Vivienne has thought of everything to make sure guests have a wonderful stay at Moorings. Parking is easy. Itâs outside the front door. A short walk over the bridge and there is an excellent Coop store. The town butchers is superb and there is a delicatessen. The Mess Hall coffee shop and courtyard is fantastic. The Globe Inn does great food and lovely for a drink. The ice cream shop which can be seen from Moorings serves heavenly ice cream. The fact is there is NOTHING not to love about Moorings and we look forward to returning very much. Thank you Vivienne. Best wishes, Pamela and Michael.

Outstanding property, the pictures don't do it justice.
Everything of top quality, fixtures, fittings, appliances. The flat has everything you'll need, from hairdryers to iron and hoover etc. Good quality linens and towels. In fact it all felt absoltuely new. And every room has a view of the beach. The views are wonderful and the sound insulation in the flat is excellent. We never heard the neighbours. The flat is a short walk from the beach. Out of the main door, turn left and walk down the stairs to the beach. There's an outside shower to get the sand off. The car parking is great, it's behind an electric gate at the back of the property and the spaces are a good size. Plenty of space. We spent 2 weeks at the flat. If you're planning to go I'd also book the best reviewed restauarants before you go as places like The Fish House were fully booked for the whole time we were there. We didn't know Fistral Beach before we went but it is beautiful. The flat is at the quiet end of the beach. People cluster at the north end near the car park and larger restaurants. So you can find a space to sit even at busy times. The lifeguards there are excellent and our kids loved the waves. They learnt to surf while there and were in the sea jumping around every day. There are great rockpools at that end of the beach too. We caught fish and shrimps, crabs and prawns. We put them back of course. The beach is soft sand, great for sandcastles and the water was lovely when we were there. There was no junk on the beach and the sea was warm enough for the kids not to need wetsuits. Overall a great stay. Lovely property, very well maintained. The welcome pack of high end food and local produce was very much appreciated. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Firstly, I want to make clear we are very fond of this property and have stayed here numerous times.
It makes it all the more disappointing that we have had such a negative experience this time. We stayed here last year and reported that the bread knife was missing from the knife block - it still hasn't been replaced! it's very frustrating to return from the excellent local bakers with a freshly baked loaf and have to hack it apart with an unsuitable knife. Our main problem was with the downstairs, the armchairs are looking very grubby and worn out. Apart from that, one of them is a potential health hazard, so much so we didn't use it at all, the front legs are 'wonky' and one of them looks on the point of collapse. There is a general air of neglect otherwise, the door handle to the main bedroom comes off and did so twice, two of the loo roll holders likewise, all for the sake of a small retaining screw. The grill tray in the oven was caked in the charred remains of previous meals. I had to scrub it with a scourer myself, surely this should be clean for each new customer? We won't be returning until we are sure these issues have been addressed, the attention to detail is sadly lacking.

We stay in Mawgan Porth each year and chose the apartment for it's great location.
We arrived to find it just as advertised, a lovely apartment with everything you need and spotlessly clean. Our only gripe was the ensuite was unusable due to a broken toilet seat which couldn't be sat on and a basin that had the plug fast stuck shut. Surely the cleaners would have noticed this and should have asked maintenance to fix. Also the door from the lounge to the hallway doesn't close properly so it rattles unless you leave it wide open. It would be handier if the terrace had some sort of fence or barrier so that you could sit out with your dogs on the terrace. The rule of no dogs on the grass means you can't really sit on the terrace if you have dogs with you for concern of them stepping out. The entrance to the car park could do with better thought as there's minimal room to sit your car in the road whilst fiddling with a chain to open it. We had a lovely holiday and would certainly come back. Thank you

The building itself is well homely and comfortable.
Each bedroom is individually styled. Bathrooms feature modern fittings and showers in each of the en suites are great. The location is great to explore the Village and 2 of the main pubs serve excellent, freshly cooked food. The Globe is a little overpriced but good food and the Royal Oak is priced at a more reasonable level but both have excellent home cooked food. Beware the train station. These are trains that travel through the South West and are full on express trains so can be regular and quite loud when passing through the adjacent station. The Village is very well served with an excellent deli, Butchers and a well stocked Co-Op, all within very easy walking distance over the famous bridge. The river is the perfect backdrop for a drink on the patio on an evening and garden furniture is comfortable and serves a family party well.
